How does Insanity work?

Using his college track and field training, combined with his experience as a professional trainer, Shaun T has created a unique approach to getting fit—fast.

The technique is called MAX interval training. Unlike traditional interval training, Shaun T takes you through long bursts of maximum-intensity exercises with very short bursts of resting. During each workout, you'll be switching between aerobic and anaerobic intervals working at your maximum energy level. You can burn up to 1,000 calories per hour with the Insanity Workout program. I'm a 33 year old woman who's was already in pretty good shape (work out 5 days a week.) However, this past year my metabolism stalled and I gained about 15 pounds, even with a very clean, low cal diet and exercise. So, I decided to try Insanity, and OMG, so glad I did! This set is so much better than ANYTHING and gym can offer, SERIOUSLY. And it's such a timesaver by doing it in your own home. I'm a busy mother of 4 so getting rid of gym time was a huge relief. I have trouble spots that most women my age have, hips and thighs that NO amount of squats or cardio at the gym was getting rid of. But Insanity has targeted those areas and I'm watching them shrink...FINALLY. Not only will you see physical results but you'll FEEL so much stronger, and accomplished, as the workouts are rediculously hard. I am literally a sweaty lump on the floor when the workouts are done but it's a proud feeling. I learned from this series that there is a lot to be said about the old school athletic drills and plyo workouts...no wonder athletes are in such good shape!

In my first review I stated that I would reccomend a longer cardio session and addition arm work outs. That is definately not the case anymore. Month 2 was in fact a lot better. I realized after day 1 of month 2 that the first month was less of a work out and more preparing your body for real insanity. I still have not lost anymore weight. It almost appears that I am slightly gaining. However, I KNOW this is due to muscle growth. I have noticed vast improvments to my tone and strength. The down: Shawn T's motivation tactics wore out at about day 3. The "jump to lunge" event put a lot of stress on my knees, so I don't do that excerise. Bottom lie: Insanity is worth the money if you do in fact stick to the program.

I'm the person who hate diets and exercise but you continue grow up so I said, okay i need to do something with my life, so I met Insane and is incredible. I combine Insane workouts with Hip Hop Abs and i love it!!!!! Shaun T you're the best!!!!

You will hate it but you will love it!!!!!

I'm a Soldier in the Army and in good shape. When I first started the Insanity workout it kicked my butt for it's entirety but I recovered after about 3 hours and felt as though I hadn't worked out at all. I have been following the nutrition guide closely and have lost maybe 2 pounds (depends on the day). I have noticed a bit more definition in my abs and my legs are more solid than ever. The workout is still a butt kicker but I recover even quicker now. I'm hoping that month two is more productive (finishing up the last two days of month one). Overall I would reccomend this program to other Soldiers and anyone else already in good shape. I would however strongly encourage using this program with a longer cario session and a more intense upper body routine.

This program is intense, and gets great results. A word of warning? Take the nutrition guide seriously and eat enough or you will seriously tank and your fat loss will stall.it can be tough to get enough calories eating clean and if you don't track your intake you can easily screw up. Also, pace yourself a little bit or you can hit overtraining syndrome pretty hard if you're a little green

Ok, can we say insane? I can honestly say that this is the most insane workout program that ever exists. Shaun T is crazy, but he is also a genius. I completed the P90X a couple of months ago. I loved it but wanted to try a different style. So Insanity came out and it looked pretty exciting. So I bought it and when I started I was totally floored. The warm up was difficult for me to finish! I wasn’t gasping for air, but I did get what seemed to be full blown workout just in the warm-up! So I was able to get through the workout, but I was shocked at how tired I was. I though I was in good shape. Well I am, but this workout really helped me get in even better shape. I got great abs from the P90X, but this program totally chiseled out that area. All the benefits I gained from my previous program were amplified a great deal. I wouldn’t recommend this program for someone that isn’t in good shape already. This is like a workout for professional personal trainers or something. Not a novice program!

Well, my husband decided to try the Insanity program and of course he wanted me to do it with him. We do everything together :) Plus he needed another person to help motivate him and get started in the morning. So we dove right in and OMG! This program is totally insane, no joke! The "warm-ups" alone are tough. No matter how good of shape you're in to begin with, it will still be tough because you are always trying to push your limits, do more and go faster. It's pretty crazy. You can even tell that Shaun T and the others are really tired and want to give up during some of the workouts.

I actually stopped doing the program because we are trying to have baby and it's really too intense of a cardio program, with lots of jumping around, that shouldn't be done by women who are pregnant.

But, if it weren't for that I would be definitely sticking to it. My husband loves it and is on his 4th week! Except we both hate the music.... it's all the same (that's why only 4 stars). But you can easily click the "music off" button and put your own on.

This is a tough workout. I've gone through the first 30 days and it I thought that was tough (35 min intense workouts) now during month 2 the workouts are almost twice as long (45-50) and you just DONT STOP MOVING!!!!!!

I've lost about 10 lbs of fat so far, and I'm seeing a nice definition in my arms, chest and back! I've actually done P90X a while a go, also a great program, but the insanity workout is a whole different beast. Last thing I'll say is the nutrition guide as a lot of meals to choose from, it is very easy to find stuff you like and can easily make each week A++ on that.

Insanity IS INSANE! i'm on week 5 right now and this program is amazing! Just like the last guy said you will be surprised at how intense this thing is right out the gate. But let me tell you i feel better than i have EVER FELT!

#1 I wasn't in horrible shape but I've already lost 6 lbs and have almost completely lost my love handles.

#2 My abs and chest are looking good too. You can actually see my abs now and my chest is starting to really get definition!

#3 My whole mood and energy level is different and i think it has to do with eating a lot better from the nutrition guide. THIS MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE!

I don't think there is a better workout system out there that will bet your body looking so much better in less time. If you find one go for it, but in the meantime the Insanity workout is GREAT! I can't give it a full 5 stars because I still have 30 more days before I finish.

If you havent seen the insanity workout being advertised on tv yet, you got to be living under a rock. My girlfriends uncle started it, and my friend at work is doing it. I got this for me and my girlfriend and we are both kicking ass!! We BOTH saw results in literally the first 2 weeks! I can't wait to see how we look by the end of the 60 days. Highly recommend this to anyone who want to see big time results really really fast!!!! But beware it's gunna be brutal!
