Is P90X For Women?

Written by: Elizabeth Renter

j0422190Gone are the days of Jane Fonda and leotards. Women today know they can take on bigger fitness challenges and reap the rewards of a truly tough workout. Despite this, we still see some people wondering if P90X is appropriate for women. To them we say: Without a Doubt! P90X for women provides a great way to burn fat and gain muscle tone. Regardless of your gender, P90X can create the body you’ve always wanted.

Using P90X for women is often more about losing fat than it is building muscle. Sure, keeping nice muscle tone is important for a great physique, but many women enter a fitness program because they want to reduce their body fat. Whether fat loss or muscle toning is your primary goal, P90X is a great choice.

While any of the approaches are appropriate for females, the most popular P90X for women is the Lean Approach. The P90X Lean approach is cardio-heavy. It appeals to women who like cardio work more than resistance training and want to focus on burning calories more than building muscle. Although all of the P90X methods will drop fat, this one will not put on as much muscle, potentially leading to a greater number of pounds lost.

Using P90X for women shouldn’t be about whether it is right for your gender, but whether it is right for your fitness goals and your lifestyle. If you are prepared to put everything you’ve got into getting the body of your dreams, P90X may be the right system for you.

Take a look around at P90X blogs online and you will find that many women have achieved great success with the program. One of our favorites of the P90X bloggers is Erin. You can check out here weekly progress here on her blog where she is now documenting her second 90 day session of P90X.

The bottom-line is: ladies, don’t sell yourselves short! P90X is just as much for you as it is any man. Give it a shot and you won’t be disappointed.

Who Are P90X Women?

j0430799Hopefully we all know that P90X is designed for both men and women. It is an intense workout system for anyone willing to put forth serious efforts in order to receive dramatic results. However, many women think the system is above them or somehow intended for “other” women. I’ve got news: P90X women are just like any other women except for one difference—their commitment to achieving the healthiest body possible. This small difference can be easily overcome and all it takes is a single decision. So you tell me—are you ready to make that commitment?

P90X women aren’t all fitness models and high performing athletes, at least not in the beginning. P90X women are just like you and me. They are mothers, daughters, professionals, teachers, nurses, and stay at home moms. The variety of women who complete the P90X program is a testament to how doable this program really is.

When we begin considering a new fitness program our mind often tries to unconsciously come up with reasons why now isn’t the right time, or why this program isn’t the right one. This is because the brain has gotten comfortable with the body’s sedentary lifestyle. The idea of taking on a fitness program is often much more stressful than the actual program itself.

The fact is: deciding to commit to at least 90 days of P90X begins with a simple decision. P90X women from all over the globe have made this simple decision and subsequently seen their body completely transform right before their eyes. Overcoming your excuses and fear of this type of program shouldn’t be made worse by worrying and anxiety. Take your emotion out of it and ask yourself: is this a decision you are ready to make?

P90X women are everywhere. You just don’t know it because they don’t have a P90X on their forehead. They are women just like you. However, they have jumped in to this life changing program—will you?

The Best Workout Routines for Women and Men

Written by: Elizabeth Renter

j0422188Women are often concerned that if they strength train they will get bulky or look too masculine. The fact is that they won’t. Female hormones and biology won’t allow us to look like men. We gain muscle differently and shouldn’t be worried about getting too big. The fact is, many of the best workout routines for women are also the best workout routines for men.

Testosterone is a big reason why men gain the type of muscle they do. Their bulk and their ability to gain muscle mass quickly (when compared with women) is directly related to the amount of testosterone in their body. Though we women have testosterone, it is not nearly as much as men which means our muscle building capabilities will be quite different. Even workouts that are 100% strength training can be excellent workout routines for women.

Whether you are a male or female you need strength training in your fitness regime. Cardio increases the health of your heart and lungs but strength training can provide long lasting benefits that simply cannot be duplicated. The best workout routines for women and men are those that combine strength training with cardio.

While I know one single workout may not be effective at combining these two elements optimally, there are several workout systems that do. Take P90X for example, which has you doing several strength training workouts and cardio workouts every week. This means you are using your heart and lungs, you are burning calories, but you are also building muscle which can increase your metabolism and make your body look even fitter.

Workouts for women should not shy away from weights or resistance training. Muscle tone gives the body a healthy shape, improves posture, and makes you feel better about yourself. The best workout routines for women and men should be well rounded for complete fitness benefits.
