In Todays post we are addressing the importance of the P90X Protein Bars for all of you who have asked.

The P90X Nutrition Guide breaks down your daily caloric intake into 5 meals:

Breakfast

Snack

Lunch

Snack

Dinner

Notice how you have 2 “snack” slots in there. Well the reason you’re eating 5 meals a day instead of the traditional 3, is that eating several sensibly portioned meals throughout the entire day has actually been proven to increase your body’s metabolism. If you’re introducing food into the body, the digestive system is stimulated and although you’re adding calories you engaging the metabolic process which helps burn calories and keep the body “running” at a higher level of activity. So the next time you think about skipping a meal or starving yourself to lose weight…THINK AGAIN! It’s actually counter productive for this and other reasons.

The P90X Workouts are intense and in order to perform effectively your body needs fuel and that fuel comes from what you eat. The nutritionists who developed the P90X Nutrition Guide understand that protein is a key component as it’s involved in transporting oxygen, contracting muscles, transporting electrons, and is the primary component of muscle tissue itself! That’s where the P90X Protein Bars step in. In fact if you take a look in your nutrition guide you’re going to see it specifically called for in your daily meal plans in the snack categories.

2 of our 3 flavors of P90X Protein Bars have 20 grams of protein! Cafe Mocha trails right behind with 18 grams, still not too shabby! Check out the full list of ingredients by visiting the following links to our P90X Protein Bars:

(By the way our #1 customer favorite is Chocolate Peanut Butter)

Getting on the path to fitness can mean a big life change for most people. It means dedicating yourself to some hard work. It means not only making physical fitness a real part of your life but also taking a serious look at your diet as well. For a lot of us, knowing what to eat and when is tough. If you have considered taking the plunge with P90X you can breath a little easier knowing that the P90X Meal Plan Approach will have you coved in this department.

The P90X Meal Plan makes planning and preparing your meals a breeze. What you’ll find is an easy to follow meal schedule that will give you exact recipes of what to eat throughout the 13 week program. If you’re like me this is a godsend. Not only do the meals taste good, but it takes all the guess workout out of what to make for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It even has your snack recommendations laid out for you too—it couldn’t be easier.

The P90X Meal Plan Approach is just one of 3 approaches that the P90X nutrition guide offers. You can choose one approach or combine the approaches to add a little variety Here are the options:

1.) P90X Portion Approach

2.) P90X Meal Plan Approach

3.) P90X Quick Options Approach

The P90X Portion Approach

It’s pretty simple. On page 5 of the P90X Nutrition Guide you first determine your “nutrition level” by filling in your current body weight and crunching a few numbers in the formula it provides. Once you figure out what level you are you are you turn to the “P90X Portion Approach” table which lays out how much proteins, dairy, fruits, vegetables, fats, carbs etc. you should be eating in a given day. So lets say you are a Level 1, as the guide indicates you should be shooting for 5 “servings” of proteins per day. So, if you flip to the next page after the table food recommendations for each category. Now simply locate the proteins section and choice from the many suggestions. For example:

3 oz boneless, skinless chicken or turkey breast

This would qualify as one serving of protein. The portion approach makes it easy to put together interesting, healthy meals while keeping you on course with how much you should be eating.

P90X Meal Plan Approach

If you aren’t interested or don’t know how to be creative in the meal department the P90X Meal Plan Approach will be your best friend. You get a weekly meal planner complete with the actual recipes to make each meal of the day. For example, lets take a look at a dinner:

6 oz Turkey

2 tbs Gravey

1/2 cup of Green Beans

1 cup Butternut Squash Soup

Now flip to the recipe page and it will give you the exact ingrediets and spices you need to make each course of the meal. It’s really hard to mess up. You know exactly what to eat, when and how to make it!

P90X Quick Options

These are really convenience foods and this option cannot be used as the primary focus of your nutrition. What’s great about it though, is if you are pressed for time you can grab these in the frozen food section of the grocery store and whip it up in a flash. No muss no fuss. Look for these brands:

-Amy’s Kitchen

- Weight Watchers Smart Ones

- Lean Cuisine

- and more!

Keep in mind you should NOT exceed more than one of these meals in a day, and be sure to follow the calorie, fat and sodium guidelines that this section outlines.

Whether it’s the P90X Meal Plan Approach, The Portion Approach or the Quick Option Approach, the P90X Nutrition guide offers really simple ways to eat healthy and give your body the fuel it needs to keep up with the workouts. If you aren’t a five star chef don’t worry P90X still has you covered. While that outlines the 3 Approaches if you want to learn a little about the 3 Phases of the P90X Nutrition Guide checkout this article:

The P90X workout plan has more than 2 million followers to date. Why are so many people into the program? Well the short answer is, it works! But lets get into the details here to see why the P90X workout plan is so popular.

The P90X workout plan has more than 2 million followers to date. Why are so many people into the program? Well the short answer is, it works! But lets get into the details here to see why the P90X workout plan is so popular.

1.) The P90X workout plan can be done in the comfort of your own home. This is a huge plus. There are a lot of us out there including myself who simply do not want to make the commute to the gym. I personally hate the inconvenience, not to mention I don’t want to pay the monthly fees and on top of that I save a lot of time in my schedule not having to even get in the car to do my workout. People like working out at home it just makes life easier.

2.) The P90X workout plan is actually fun. One of the main reasons P90X is so effective is that it focuses on the concept of “Muscle Confusion” in a nutshell it throws in a ton of different exercises from many different schools of physical fitness. Not only does it push the body to keep getting results but hey variety is the spice of life. The simple fact that I don’t have to do the same old routine over the course of the 90 day program makes the P90X workout plan a lot more interesting. A lot of people fail to continue working out because it becomes monotonous. This isn’t the case with P90X and it makes a HUGE difference for people like me.

3.) The P90X Workout Plan has a strong focus on your diet as well as your physical fitness. What makes the program so popular is that it has you covered on the workouts as well as what you eat. I don’t mind cooking but to be honest, like a lot of people I really don’t know how to make 100% healthy meals. The P90X Nutrition Guide holds your hand through the whole process. You get full meals mapped out for you from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snacks. It makes eating healthy practically a no brainer.

I know everyone has heard this one before, how it is so important to warm up before starting any fitness training program. You don’t want to pull a muscle or strain yourself. But did you know that if you don’t warm up before hand you’re just wasting some of your valuable workout, wasting time warming up during your actual workout. Your body is going to take the time to warm up wether you do it or not. We all live in a society where everything is just rush rush rush. It seems like we have less and less time to do our workouts, so why not make it count. Take the time before hand to get your heart pumping and get the most out of your fitness training program.

If you want to warm up properly for your workout, simple stretching won’t do. The whole point is to get heart rate up and to warm up your body. If your fitness training program is a real intense one, like the P90X, then you will want to do a much longer warm up session, although the P90X program does a great job of warming you up on its own. But for other programs doing a little jogging in place for about 10 minutes or for lower intensity programs a quick walk around the block, in addition to stretching, will do the trick.

People often ask me “does p90x work?” and I always give them the same answer… absolutely. If you give a 100% during your workouts and you follow the nutrition guide you should feel some positive changes in as little as a week. You might not see a huge change in the mirror but don’t fret because if you stick with it you’ll notice (and so will others) some radical improvements in as little as 3 – 4 weeks.

While looking around on Google for the term does p90x work, I came across Shelly’s Journal. She posted about this very topic, does p90x work, back in July when she was at her half way point. She gave a very thorough review that I suggest you check out. According to her she says that for p90x to work really depends on your level of commitment. If you’re willing to change your diet and work through the hard workouts then you’ll be glad you did and the answer to your question – does p90x work? – will be yes.

Shelley finished the p90x in August, I recommend reading her day 90 review as well.

Does p90x work? If you’ve completed or are currently doing the P90X please tell me what you think.

Man boobs or “moobs” as some like to call them are usually associated with those guys who are either overweight or deconditioned according to Jay Dawes, education director at the National Strength and Conditioning Association. As some might think, the best way to combat man boobs is to work out the chest.

However, while this will strengthen and build the pectoral muscles it is not going to be the end all solution. If there is a lot of fat covering these muscles all the bench-presses and push-ups in the world won’t get rid of those man boobs.

Home workouts like P90X have a strong focus on working out the pecs. One of the primary routines is “Chest & Back” but the important element to keep in mind is that your workout routine needs to incorporate cardio, and P90X does this flawlessly. While strength training is important, if you want to rid yourself of the dreaded man boob phenomenon you have to burn off the fat covering up that well defined chest. P90X integrates ”Plyometrics”, into the mix a fast paced, sports cardio training routine as well as “Cardio X” and “Core synergistics” to get the heart pumping and the body sweating so you burn calories and fat.

Most men care about how they look man boobs don’t have to be part of your physique just make sure your daily exercise routine includes both strength training and cardio similar to the P90X workout system. Once you have your workout regimen in check and your diet in check you’ll be able to say good bye to those “moobs” for good.

But what’s all the fuss about? P90X Plyometrics is an incredible workout routine that’s approximately 50 minutes long that borrows heavily from sports conditioning exercises. If you’ve ever played basketball or football and remember those wicked practices you’ll find quite a few of these moves very familiar.

P90X Plyometrics is a cardio centric workout. It aims to get you moving and keep you moving. The main goals of Plyometrics is to improve agility, increase stamina, and burn a boat load of calories! Like all P90X workouts you can expect to burn at least 600 calories from Plyo. The fact is P90X Plyometrics is considered the “mother” of all P90X workouts for a reason. Chances are you’re probably going to burn closer to 800 calories because the workout is down right intense!

You’ll find yourself in the air most of the 50 minutes as it will have you jumping a lot and often. From Airborne Heisman’s, to Jump Squats, to Monster Truck Tires it gets crazy! I remember the first day I did Plyometrics. I couldn’t get through the last 20 minutes of the workout I was whipped big time. But as Tony Horton says “Do your best and forget the rest”. Little by little you increase your performance and if you’re just starting out beware P90X Plyometrics will kick your butt. Just stick with it you won’t regret it!

I read an article the other day that discussed ways of exercising smarter while in the gym. In the article they mentioned a few things that don’t apply to working out at home, such as what to do when exercise equipment is in use but overall they had some good tips I’d like to share with you. These tips are great for (and utilized) in the P90X system.

1) Target multiple muscle groups for maximum results. Push-ups work the chest, triceps, abs and buttocks while pull ups work the back, shoulders and biceps.

2) Low reps for strength building. High reps for larger toned muscles. No more than 6 reps if you are looking to strengthen your muscles. 8 – 12 reps if you are looking to tone and bulk up your muscles.

3) Variation. Don’t do the same workout every day. By changing the exercises daily your body won’t have the chance to plateau. P90X calls this muscle confusion.

Following these 3 tips will definitely help your workouts. Give them a try and tell me what you think or if you have any others let me know.

The University of Texas did a study with over a 100 students where some were the judges and others the photographed. The photographed individual (as well as people close to them) filled out surveys about their personalities. Pictures were taken of the students in two poses. The first was in a natural or spontaneous manner, the other was a non-emotional manner (blank stare, arms down by the side, etc.). The judges then evaluated the pictures and were asked to write down what they thought the personality traits were of the individual in the picture. Surprisingly the judges nailed it on the head. In shots where an extroverted person was in a blank stare the judge identified them as being outgoing while timid individuals in a candid shot were identified as being shy.

I thought this was interesting because on the days that I do P90X (or workout in general) I have more energy, feel better about myself, roll my shoulders back and hold my head higher. My confidence levels are much higher on these days. People have commented about my attitude and appearance on the days that I’ve worked out more then the days I have not, even if on those days where I did work out I haven’t showered or I’m still in yesterdays clothes. Is it possible that working out is changing my personality for the day and thus shining through my normal appearance? Are you somebody who works out on a daily basis and believes your personality is a result of doing so? Let me know what you think.

The idea is that they are all created for women and none are challenging enough for men seeking a real, hard core workout. Nevermind the fact that women can workout just as hard as men, men want to feel seriously challenged in an at home workout. For that reason, we are here to discuss some of the at home workouts for men we sell here at Extreme Body Workout.

One of our original at home workouts for men is the first Power 90. This workout is a great start up for men who eventually would like to work through P90X and even P90X Plus. Power 90 promises 90 days to a new body. It does this with the help of celebrity trainer Tony Horton and 7 targeted workouts. Sectional progression is used to sculpt and define each muscle group in this basic but very challenging program.

For Power 90 graduates or for men who are already pretty fit, we carry the bestselling in at home workouts for men: P90X. P90X is the ultimate in at home workouts for men. If you ever thought that at home workouts weren’t challenging, this program will prove you wrong. Using the science of muscle confusion, Horton moves men through a series of cardio and strength training workouts designed to get your body into the best shape ever.

Finally, for the man who has limited time, there’s Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer. When shopping for at home workouts for men, this one is the most appealing for men who want to stay in good shape but whose life requires a customizable workout. 10 Minute Trainer allows men to create a workout that they have time for, whether it is 20, 30, or 40 minutes long.

At home workouts for men do exist and we carry some of the best here. Don’t let the misconceptions about at home workouts blur your vision. These workouts can change the way you view an at home workout and change your body for good.

Okay, we here at ExtremeBody Workout like resistance band exercises. No, it’s not only because we sell resistance bands but because we truly believe they are a great way to get fit. Their unassuming appearance often gets them overlooked by people serious about getting fit, and this is unfortunate.

Resistance band exercises can be as effective as dumbbell workouts. They offer an alternate way of getting fit in an inexpensive and convenient small package. Resistance bands like those that we have here, come in several “weights” or resistance levels. This allows you to get proper resistance for your workouts, similar to choosing the right dumbbells or plate settings at the gym.

Several of our workout systems use resistance band exercises. They don’t do this to sell resistance bands, they do this because resistance bands work! Whether you are looking at Ten Minute Trainer, ChaLEAN Extreme, or P90X, you will find people making radical body transformations with the use of resistance band exercises.

Aside from them being effective, resistance bands are far more portable than dumbbells. When’s the last time you tried carrying your weights on a plane or packing your home gym in your trunk? Resistance bands are easily stored and easily transported. Depending on your workplace, you could even fit a few resistance bands into your desk drawer for use throughout the day.

Resistance band exercises work on many levels, furthering your fitness goals and making it easy to step your workouts up to another level. Using resistance bands in your workout plan will get you serious results and do so at a minimal cost when compared with the alternatives.

The best resistance band exercises are those that you can adjust to meet your fitness needs. There really is a never ending number of options when working out with resistance bands. Check out any of our fitness programs for new resistance band moves and highly effective fitness training.

Workout sheets provide a way to track progress and chart your workouts. They are a great tool and one whose usefulness shouldn’t be underestimated. Tracking tools are a necessity when trying to get fit and challenging your body to become stronger. Workout sheets like those that come with the P90X program are a crucial component to tracking and maintaining consistency in your workouts.

The P90X workout sheets or logs allow you to track reps and sets as well as how much weight you use. All three of these components are important when using or designing a workout sheet for your fitness routine. Knowing what you did last week and the week before can seriously assist you when determining which weight to pick up this week.

Workout sheets can make your transition from set to set a lot easier. If you have ever tried a weight training regimen without workout sheets you know how it can take a while to find the right weight. Picking up one too light you will quickly realize you won’t get the benefits you want. If you pick up one too heavy you will max out way to early.

One of the greatest sense of accomplishment can come from looking through past workout sheets and logs. As you fill a sheet or recreate another one, save the old workout sheets somewhere. As your fitness level becomes more advanced you will be able to look back and be amazed at your progress.

Use the workout sheets to also document how the workout felt. Did you eat before hand and how did that affect your workout? Late night the night before? Mention that on your workout sheet so you can see how that may have affected today’s workout.

Workout sheets have the potential to change the quality of your workout and your level of satisfaction as well. Using the workout sheets that came with the high quality p90x program or designing your own, if you give them a few weeks you will see their benefits and you will never go back to working out without them.

One of the most sought after and crucial tools is the simple P90X calendar. Tracking your workouts and progress is an important part of sticking with a fitness program and the P90X calendar helps you do this. It’s a simple tool but one that can prove to be invaluable in your journey to fitness and a better looking body!

Keeping track of your progress and workouts is a great way to stay motivated. Whether you are doing P90X or not, tools like the P90X calendar are great to utilize when you have any fitness goals in mind. Something about having your fitness goals and workouts right in front of you brings about a sense of achievement that really propels your forward.

You can keep your P90X calendar anywhere really. But, if at all possible, consider hanging it somewhere you will see it throughout the day. Perhaps the back of your bathroom or bedroom door is a good option. This allows you to constantly be reminded of your goals and your progress with the P90X system.

The P90X calendar will help you through the next 90 days. And when you have completed the system it will be a great reminder of your achievement. When you begin the program you may doubt your ability to pull off 90 days of these intense workouts. Once you get going, however, your abilities will grow and your progress will show.

Looking back from week 4 to week 1 you will see amazing differences in your workouts and your body shape. Your muscles will begin to take shape as you burn off the fat that was covering them. You will find that you can continue to push yourself to get even more dramatic results using the P90X calendar to help motivate you and keep you on target with your goals.
