P90X and Overtraining—a Real Concern?

P90X is a tough workout program; there’s no question about it. There will be days where you don’t want to finish a workout, where you’ll feel tired before you even begin. There’s a difference between lack of motivation and overtraining, however, and knowing the difference is pretty important. So, is P90X and overtraining syndrome a real concern or should you not even worry about this commonly used term?

Let’s talk about overtraining. Overtraining syndrome is when you work your body too hard and don’t give it time to recover. You have to balance your workload with your body’s ability to recover. Without this balance you will see a decrease in your performance and even your fitness results. So, how do you know when you’ve been struck with overtraining? There are several symptoms:

  • Lack of energy
  • Drop in performance
  • Moodiness
  • Decreased immunity
  • Muscle and joint pain
  • Increased injuries

It’s easy to feel tired sometimes and when you’re doing P90X, muscle soreness becomes the new normal. But this isn’t always a result of overtraining. Paying attention to your body is essential and you will be able to recognize the difference between overtraining and normal side effects of being an adult and living a busy lifestyle.

Fortunately, P90X and overtraining rarely go together. This is because the program has built in rest days. Also, you aren’t using high intensity interval training or strenuous cardio every single day. You are varying your workouts when you’re on P90X specifically to increase your results and avoid overtraining.

Is P90X and overtraining possible? Sure. But it’s just not likely. When you take care of yourself like the P90X program recommends, your injuries and setbacks should be few if any. Everything from the P90X diet to the workouts and the recommended supplements are designed with your complete health in mind. Although the P90X program is tough—it won’t kill you and is made to make you healthier not the other way around.

If you are really concerned that you may have overtraining syndrome, take a day off. Use the stretching workout and relax. Be certain that you are getting enough of the right foods in your daily diet and take care of your body.

How Much Weight Should You Give to P90X Reviews?

I’ve said again and again that product reviews are an excellent way to learn more about something, especially if you are on the fence about making a purchase. I use reviews myself for everything from books to appliances. But not all reviews are created equally and if you spend as much time online as I do, this is pretty apparent. Learning how to sift through these reviews and only give credit to the most worthy of them is a good skill to have, whether you’re looking at P90X reviews or cosmetic reviews.

The absolute best product reviews come from other consumers. Of course that’s a personal opinion, but reading a half-dozen consumer reviews is more likely to give you an accurate picture of product quality than a half-dozen professionally written reviews. I say this because consumers review products they’ve actually used. And they are only going to take the time to write a review when the product has struck them in some way—either as being particularly good or particularly bad. Consumers are (for the most part) honest.

P90X reviews come from both consumers and professional review sites. And under the guise of both, there are some unscrupulous reviews out there. When looking for P90X reviews, be wary of those that subtly promote other products. Some companies use reviews to promote their own products, not necessarily bashing the competition but suggesting theirs is slightly better.

Aside from those reviews used purely for marketing purposes, reviews can give great insight into a product. I can talk about how great P90X is until I’m blue in the face. But the fact that this site sells P90X will likely have you questioning my motives, no matter how noble they are. However, I can, without a doubt, tell you that the P90X reviews written by our customers here on the product page are not changed at all by us. These are real reviews submitted by real people who have something to share.

So, how much weight should you give to P90X reviews? They should be used in your purchasing decision but you should read them carefully. Don’t read one and stop—read several. Collectively, consumer reviews are extremely useful in the shopping experience.

Where Can I Find P90X Information?

It may seem silly to be online asking where to find information. After all, you are in the midst of the greatest repository of information ever. But the sheer volume of information makes it quite difficult to find precisely what you are looking for at times. You might want a recipe for chicken breasts but a search for “chicken breasts” could really return all sorts of options that are completely off the mark. So, when you’re looking for P90X information and guidance, we have one simple suggestion—come here!

We get questions all the time from customers and potential customers about all facets of P90X. They want to know if it’s appropriate for their age or lifestyle. Some may ask whether or not they have to purchase extra equipment or if the P90X diet is truly required. Others have questions about certain workouts and the ability to swap them out on the calendar. When you’re looking for P90X information you need a source that you can trust and one that isn’t going anywhere—that’s us.

If you simply search for your P90X question on the Internet you will get numerous sources. And while some of them may be very good, you’ll likely have to click through a few not-so-good options first. Recognizing Legitimate P90X Customer Reviews

There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of P90X customer reviews available online today. But they aren’t all created equally. When you want a review that will help you gain insight into the P90X workout program, you want one that you can trust truly comes from a consumer like you, not a company with ulterior motives.

What I mean is there are companies out there that have somewhat unscrupulous business practices. Gasp! I know you’re shocked. Although there are some very good reviews out there, you must learn to read for quality not only content.

When you look at P90X customer reviews you will find that some of the best are in the comment sections of retailer websites. You will also find high quality reviews in personal blogs. While there are some sites solely dedicated to product reviews, many of these sites are money-makers, designed to subtly sway you towards other products at the benefit of another company.

These reviews may offer some information on the P90X program but will give you hints that another program (namely theirs) is slightly better. These reviews may even appear to have been written by a customer. But how do you know when you’re being “had”? It’s not always that easy to tell.

It’s not quite as simple as saying all the positive reviews are legitimate and those that don’t recommend P90X are marketing ploys. But, in general, we find people who do the complete P90X program are happy with it and the results they gain in the end.

What you need to look for when seeking out legitimate P90X customer reviews is a legitimate source. Where are you finding this review? If it’s a personal blog there’s a good chance it’s legit. Likewise, if it is a comment in the feedback section of a retailer, it’s probably good. Reviews on review-only sites should be taken with a grain of salt. While there are some review sites with worthwhile intentions of informing the public, this isn’t always the case.

Use common sense. If the review seems a little bit like an ad or it feels like you are being talked out of P90X and into another, there may be marketing motivations behind it.

What Is Your P90X Workout Plan?

Some people just aren’t planners. They prefer to go with the flow, fly by the seat of their pants. But, when it comes to reaching goals, plans are pretty crucial. Particularly in regards to fitness goals, a plan increases the likelihood of success. So, if you’re getting ready to start any sort of fitness regimen I would highly recommend a plan.

P90X comes with a calendar so what do I mean by a P90X workout plan? Your P90X workout plan is the plan you have made to steer you directly towards your goals. This could mean what time you are going to get your workout in; it could include how you will ensure you stick with the program; and it most certainly includes your goals themselves.

A P90X workout plan gives you focus. It gives you a clear path towards success and it also increases motivation!

You can use the P90X Guidebook for your plan or scribble it on a piece of notebook paper. As long as you are putting the plan into words, you will get the benefits of it. Every step you take to ensure success on the P90X program should be included. Your “before” measurements and photos, your (very specific) goals, your workout schedule, eating plan, and even your grocery list can be included. If you have tricks for staying motivated, write those down too. Your P90X workout plan should be your arsenal of tools for success.

A plan is nothing more than a road map. Don’t be intimidated if you’re not a planner. This plan doesn’t have to include an outline or a flow chart. It doesn’t even have to include complete sentences. Maybe a list is all you need or keywords. The goal here is to make a plan that you understand and that will help you achieve your goals.

After creating your P90X workout plan, keep it in a safe place and revisit it every so often. Maybe take it out when you do your weekly measurements or weigh-ins. Keeping your goals and your plan in mind will help ensure you stay on that path towards success!

Analyzing P90X Complaints

The old adage is true: You can’t please everybody. Whether you are talking about food or a fitness product, there will always be someone less than satisfied. When it comes to fitness products like P90X, however, it’s important to make a distinction between complaints about the actual program and complaints that are a matter of preference. Before writing this I took some time to look for P90X complaints and found relatively few. This is important because most fitness programs and products are featured on many complaint and review sites.

Unlike P90X complaints, most fitness complaints are that a product makes promises it can’t live up to. This is especially true with exercise machines that claim to deliver miraculous results with little to no effort. While these promises are appealing to consumers, the products can rarely deliver those great results they claim. If someone is going to complain about the P90X program, it won’t be because the system made a promise it couldn’t keep. There are no claims of effortless fitness or weight loss here, P90X makes it abundantly clear you will have to work for your results.

The only P90X complaints that I was able to find were directly related to preference. This simply means that someone didn’t like the Yoga workout because they don’t like Yoga, not because there’s something specifically wrong with the workout. Perhaps they didn’t like the workout requirements. These kinds of complaints largely come from people who don’t do the research before they purchase the program. In order to avoid this kind of dissatisfaction, you have to be sure you are choosing the right workout program for you.

One way around having your own P90X complaints is by doing some research. All of the programs we offer are top quality, you just have to choose the one that best fits your lifestyle and fitness goals. Read our customer reviews featured on each product page and take some time when making your choice.

Whether you end up with P90X, Insanity Workout, or Slim In 6—if you choose the right system you will have no complaints!
