Using Meal Replacements for Weight Loss
Shakes aren’t the only meal replacements available these days for dieting, though they remain the most popular. There are many varieties of shakes, bars, and other products made specifically to assist dieters in decreasing their daily caloric intake in pursuit of fitness goals. We actually sell a few of those varieties here. Meal replacements, however, have gotten a bad rap. People equate them with starvation diets, and that simply isn’t always the case. You can use meal replacements in a healthy and responsible way to achieve your weight loss goals.
Why Use Meal Replacements?
Well, there are several reasons. The first: they are convenient. Meal replacements require no cooking, no weighing, and very little, if any, prep time. They are great for on the go eating when fast food simply isn’t an option. In addition, meal replacements are typically very economical. They give you a cheap, easy way to get fit.
A good meal replacement diet never has you substituting for more than two meals a day on a typical 3 meal per day eating plan. For instance, a normal day using meal replacements could go something like this. Breakfast at 7:30 consisting of a P90X protein bar and cup of coffee. A small snack of crunchy fruit around 10 am. Lunch at 12 made up of a Meal Replacement Shake and veggie salad. A healthy snack around 3pm and a complete meal at dinner time. This consistent fueling throughout the day ensures your metabolism stays on “high” and you don’t get too hungry.
The whole science of weight loss boils down to calories in must be less than calories expended for the day. So, on any given day you are trying to create a caloric deficit. This can be achieved through changes in diet or exercise, though it is most beneficial when it includes both.
Using meal replacements to obtain this caloric deficit is simply one healthy option. Meal replacements don’t have to cause you serious hunger and aren’t about cutting your calories to dangerous levels. Instead, they are simply one tool at your disposal in the journey towards a healthier and happier you.

Using meal replacement shakes for weight loss is nothing new. In the 80s there was a boom in shake diet popularity as everyone was drinking their calories rather than chewing. Meal replacement diets have changed and so have the way they are being used. No longer are meal replacement dieters having to struggle between “meals” and spending their entire weight loss journey in a state of extreme hunger.
