I bet every woman out there would love to tone their legs and butt with one easy step. Just change your sneakers! Is it really possible? Reebok’s new EasyTone Sneakers claim to do just that. Apparently this new and innovative fitness gear for your feet will tone your hamstrings up to 11% harder and tone your butt 28% more just by walking in them.

Check it out

Ok, so do they really work? And how?

The Reebok EasyTone sneakers simulates the act of walking in your bare feet. When you walk barefooted you step into your stride with more of a flexed knee and push off with a straight leg. This motion activates your muscles in your hamstrings and butt. Thus, toning your legs and butt as you walk. Of course nothing is perfect, there may be some side effect to using this new fitness gear.

According to Ethan J. Ciment, a surgical podiatrist, people who wear these sneakers may unknowingly adapt the way they normally walk. Making it painful and uncomfortable to wear normal shoes. He recommends consulting with a podiatrist before trying the Reebok EasyTone sneaker. (Original Source: That’s Fit, Ronnie Koenig)

If you are a little uneasy about trying this new fitness gear, try something more traditional, like a 10 minute workout with Tony Horton. It only takes 10 minutes a day and it will to work your hamstrings and butt, with out the risk!

For more information on this workout check out this article: 10 Minute Trainer

I would venture to guess that the vast majority of people who start a fitness program do it in order to lose weight. I admit, not everyone has that as a goal. But, given the number of obese adults in this country and the booming weight loss industry, I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume most people exercise to get trim. Those people won’t be impressed with programs that promise gradual weight loss. Instead they are lured by exercises to lose weight quickly.

The rate at which you lose weight depends on many factors. You can’t just Google “exercises to lose weight quickly” and expect to find the holy grail of fitness moves. There are simply too many variations to weight loss for this to be possible.

Rather than being overly concerned with finding the groups of exercises to lose weight quickly, those people with weight loss goals should be looking for fitness programs that promise healthy and long lasting weight loss. Quick weight loss simply isn’t as rewarding when you gain it all back.

Depending on your current fitness level, a dramatic change in your diet and exercise program will bring about an initial fast weight loss. As your body gets accustomed to eating right and working out on a regular basis, your progress will slow. It is important during these times that you pay attention to more than just the number on the scale. As you build muscle your weight may remain the same even though your body composition is changing and improving. Body fat measurements and tape measures become crucial tools at this stage.

The fact is there is no magic pill or simple group of exercises to lose weight quickly. Hard work and a healthy lifestyle will lead to weight loss and confidence gains. When you are ready to get the body you have dreamed of, you must also be ready to take the changes as they come, whether dramatically fast as some points or painstakingly slow at others.

Finding a program that uses both cardio workouts for the health of your heart and lungs as well as strength training for muscle development is crucial. Pairing this with a nutritious diet will give you the results you want in a manner that is far more maintainable than any lose weight fast scheme.

Health related fitness is more than just working out to look good. It’s definitely about more than fitting into your bikini by the 4th of July. Health related fitness involves keeping fit to ensure better overall health. This applies to your cardiovascular health, your weight, and the prevention of many diseases and afflictions linked to a sedentary lifestyle.

Health related fitness is crucial. People often only think of getting fit as an aesthetic goal. They forget that fitness is important for a range of health benefits, not just for looking good. People wanting to get fit may find their fitness regimen easier to stick with if they recognize all of the important benefits of health related fitness.

Studies show that people who exercise or diet only to lose weight are less likely to keep the weight off than people who do it for additional general health benefits and to live a healthier lifestyle. This is because once you reach a weight loss goal it is easy to celebrate and relax. When you realize that the benefits of a healthy weight far outlast a smaller belt size you are more likely to think of your diet and exercise changes as a lifestyle rather than a temporary situation.

The importance of health related fitness isn’t just for adults either. Children and the elderly also have to pay attention to what they eat and their activity levels. The elderly can ward off pain and afflictions like osteoporosis with regular strength training. Workout programs like Tony & the Folks are created specifically for this age group, allowing older people to get a regular workout in the comfort of their own home.

Children are also suffering from the obesity epidemic. Kids aren’t as active as they once were. They depend on their parents to teach them the importance of health related fitness, and too often we fail to follow through on this. Take a look at Shaun T’s Fit Kids Club to give kids a fun way to get fit.

The importance of health related fitness is way beyond helping adults get sexy. It’s about living a healthy lifestyle and preparing to live a long life. Making fitness and a healthy diet regular aspects of your life will give you long lasting positive effects.

There are many angles and goals of physical fitness. However, there are five components of fitness that create a well rounded and truly “fit” person. If you concentrate on these five aspects you will find that your overall health and wellness improves. While focusing on one and not the others can provide benefits, your fitness potential isn’t truly realized until you are addressing all five.

The first of the five components of fitness is one that has often received the most attention, cardiovascular endurance. Exercise, particularly for women, has centered around cardio health for a long time. This refers to how well your heart and lungs work together to provide oxygen to the body, particularly during workouts.

The second in the five components of fitness is muscular endurance. This refers to how long your muscles can do a repeated action before tiring. Things that require repetitive movement like cycling and running are both cardio and muscular endurance activities.

Muscular strength is next in the five components of fitness. It’s obvious that this refers to the ability of the muscles to lift, pull, or maintain control over weight. Things like strength training provide good gains in muscular strength.

Often overlooked is the fourth in the five components of fitness, stretching or flexibility. Flexibility keeps the muscles loose and can prevent injury. Things like regular stretching, yoga, an pilates are good tools to use when trying to improve flexibility.

Last in the five components of fitness is body composition or the ratio of fat within the body. This is a good indicator of overall physical health and can also determine the risk of other diseases. By keeping your body fat within an acceptable range, you can ensure optimum health.

The five components of fitness are each unique and each provide you with health benefits beyond measure. By addressing all five aspects of fitness you ensure you are taking care of your body in a well rounded manner.

We’ve been over this before here at the ExtremeBody Workout blog, but you really can’t overdo it when it comes to tips for making your home workout routine last. It’s pretty easy to start a fitness regimen. You have some motivation in the beginning and you may even be excited as you think about what this fitness endeavor could mean for your body, your health, your attitude, and your appearance. As time goes by, however, it is easy to let that excitement go. A day off can easily turn into a week which is very likely to turn into a month with no workouts. Many of you, I’m sure, can back me up on this one, keeping with a home workout routine requires more sheer dedication than it does motivation.

In the beginning there is motivation. You have your eyes on a pair of jeans in your closet or a bikini you bought last year. Whatever the motivation is, it’s much more likely to be present when you start your home workout routine. The problem with motivation is: it isn’t constant. Motivation will come and go and basing your workouts on motivation is a certain recipe for disaster.

Instead, committing to your home workout routine and working out because of dedication to that commitment can help ensure your success on the program. When you really commit to something, it is harder to allow it to fade away. Commitment requires much more dedication than a fleeting affair with motivation.

You can often find motivation in dedication. When you truly make up your mind to see something through, it can be motivating. However, on days when the motivation isn’t there, dedication needs to be present to carry you through. Don’t give yourself an option to workout, make it a necessity, a daily requirement. More than likely you will find that you will never regret a workout after the fact. However, if you give into temptation and skip a home workout routine, there is no doubt that you will likely regret your inaction.

Whether you are someone who likes to stay fit or someone who struggles with it, fitness tips can serve a legitimate purpose for you. A little coaching and motivation goes a long way for anyone who is a fitness fanatic or just getting started with a program. Fitness tips are about more than education and learning something new; they work to keep your eyes on the prize and your actions lined up with your goals.

There are hundreds of sources for good fitness tips on the web. When deciding who to trust with your fitness tips, consider the source. If you like a certain blog on a site selling popular workout programs (ah-hem), chances are the website will provide quality tips relating to their products but also to general health subjects as well.

Personal blogs can also be a great source of tips too, however. Some of the most motivational pieces on the web are from people who struggle with their own weight and work on a daily basis to keep it off and stay healthy. These people know your situation and it is easy to identify with them. Their fitness tips can come in the form of how they overcome cravings or lack of motivation.

Simply reading about fitness advances and new articles can also be a great motivation. Chances are your favorite fitness magazine has an official website. And more than likely, that website contains articles, discussion boards, and even recipes. Fitness tips are everywhere you turn on sites like this.

Use fitness tips to your advantage. Find one or several sources that you like and bookmark them. Check them out in the morning while you drink your coffee or over your lunch break. Allowing your personal time to become an opportunity for motivation will help you stick with the program and continue to see great results.

A high quality personal workout plan is something that anyone who wants to be fit needs. You can’t always find someone whose physique you admire and do what they do. First of all, we are all made differently and their workouts might not be right for you. Also, your time constraints, level of dedication, and fitness goals could be totally different from the next person. What makes a good personal workout plan is you! The “personal” in a personal workout plan is what makes it work. Face it, if you apply a workout plan that just doesn’t fit your lifestyle, it won’t be effective. Finding a system that works specifically for you is half the battle in finding one that works period.

A superior personal workout plan is one that you develop or find that takes what you need into consideration. In order to know what to look for, you have to know what you want from a fitness program.

As yourself questions like, how long are you willing to dedicate to this workout system on a daily basis? What kind of results do you want? Are there any programs or exercise types that simply won’t work for you? What kind of exercise do you enjoy?

Too often we see great results on someone else and try their program, knowing deep down it isn’t the right system for us. You have to find or create a personal workout plan that is personal in order for it to be effective in the long term. We put more effort into the things we enjoy and those things that fit our lifestyle. Likewise, you will see better results if you find the perfect fit in a workout for yourself.

Don’t choose a workout based solely on before and after photos. There are many programs out there and more than likely, they is one that is perfect for you. So, evaluate your priorities and then evaluate your options.

The best personal workout plan is one that you will enjoy, because the more you enjoy it, the greater potential it has to change your life.

Many people still use planners to organize their days. Those small black leather-bound notebooks that you see people whip out when it’s time to schedule something are still around. Even for those of us who have move forward and now use PDA’s to manage our hectic lives, organization is key when you are busy. A home workout planner is essential for those people who have to schedule everything.

Whether you enter your daily workouts in your leather notebook or put them in your phone, you need to make time for daily fitness and for some people, this is the only way. Making your fitness a priority by using a home workout planner can mean the difference between working out and slacking off.

For those of us who are seriously organized, if it isn’t in the planner, it didn’t happen. Writing down your planned workouts in a home workout planner ensures you intend to do them and gives you a place to cross them off once they are finished, providing a sense of accomplishment.

When your days are bombarded with meetings, work, travel, and family life, scheduling a workout should be a no brainer. For many, however, making the time can be very difficult. By writing it down in a home workout planner, in your PDA, or on your calendar, you can make sure you have the time everyday.

If fitting a workout in seems impossible, consider a workout program specifically made for people with little time on their hands. 10 Minute Trainer from celebrity trainer Tony Horton allows you to choose the length of your workout. On busy days, schedule a 20 minute session in your home workout planner. On the weekends you can customize a 40 minute workout.

The point is: don’t let your schedule keep you from working out, make working out a part of your schedule.

As you maintain a daily fitness regimen, things can get dull and motivation will come and go. Having a variety of fitness tips and information available can keep things fresh and interesting.

When you find a reliable source for fitness tips (like this blog!), be certain to bookmark it. How many times have you stumbled across a great website only to forget it and never run across it again. Having motivational sites like this available in a folder on your favorites, makes getting daily exercise information a cinch.

Fitness tips can help you stay injury free as well. Knowing how to exercise correctly and how to recognize injuries when they happen will assist you in your workouts by keeping you strong and injury free. Great fitness tips include those that educate you about proper form and safe exercising.

Sharing with other fitness buffs can be a great method of getting fitness tips as well. Finding discussion boards with likeminded people is a great way to keep interest high and gain some valuable insight into the fitness regimes of other people like you. Sometimes the best tips come from regular people.

Fitness tips serve many purposes. They motivate you, educate you, and keep you working out in the most effective ways. Find a few reliable sources and stick with them. As you absorb the fitness tips you will become a knowledgeable source for someone else.

Nearly everyone has something they would like to see improvement on when it comes to their body. There are very few people who are completely satisfied with the way they look. These people do a huge variety of things to get their shape fine tuned everyday. Some workout at the gym, some run, do home workout programs, or restrict their eating habits. There is such a wide variety of options because there are so many different types of people. The key to making big changes in your body is finding a personal workout program that is perfect for you.

A personal workout program is just that, personal. Finding out what you like and what works for you is crucial to getting a program perfect for your needs. Simply purchasing something because it works for someone else isn’t always the best solution.

When deciding how to craft your personal workout program there are several things to take into consideration. Make a mental list of what is important to you in a workout system. Perhaps your schedule makes finding time difficult so flexibility would be important. Maybe, however you want something really intense and you have extra time for it. Everyone has different fitness needs and you need to take those into consideration when beginning a program.

Don’t sign up for a gym membership if you don’t like working out in a gym. Sounds pretty basic huh? Many of us do this though, lie to ourselves and attempt to start something we know is not compatible with our lifestyle. When choosing a personal workout program, above all, be realistic!

If you are looking for a personal workout program to do at home, (which let’s face it, is the most convenient place to work out) be sure to see what we have to offer. We have something perfect for nearly anyone, young, old, hardcore, pressed for time, we certainly have a multitude of high quality personal workout programs.

There are many ways a home workout routine can benefit you and propel you toward your fitness goals. Whether you hate the gym or just want something that’s ultra convenient, working out in the comfort of your own home has several benefits and perks that you simply can’t get elsewhere. Wondering if a system like this is right for you? Check out the top 5 benefits to working out at home and feel free to add your own in the comment section.

1. No one to see you sweat (or hear you grunt). A home workout system allows you to make all the noise you want. It allows you to sweat like a pig without being concerned about who is watching. If you are self-conscious at all, working out at home is perfect for you.
2. It’s cheaper than the gym! Your home has no monthly membership due, no contracts to sign and no registration fees. At the very most you will have a onetime cost of a high quality home workout routine system and possibly some resistance bands.
3. With a home workout routine, there’s no drive time. Has the weather ever kept you from the gym? What about the extra time it takes to get there? With a home workout routine, none of this is a concern.
4. Your personal refreshment bar. When you are in the midst of a home workout routine, you don’t have to go far for a drink of water or a recovery drink. With your kitchen only steps away you also don’t have to worry about spending more for these things at the gym.
5. No bar scene. Some gyms seem to be a singles hangout. There are more people there to check out members of the opposite sex than there are people serious about getting healthy. At home you don’t have to feel like you are on display and comfort allows you to focus more on your home workout routine.

When deciding on a home workout routine, take into consideration the reasons for your workout. Working out at home carries a list of benefits far more extensive than the ones here. Do you prefer workout at home? What are your reasons for it?

Childhood obesity is a very real problem in our day. One only need to look around a playground to see that the number of overweight children is rising. We are allowing our own poor health choices to become our children’s poor health choices and this is quite sad. Finding a way to start a fitness program for kids is a productive first step in fighting the childhood obesity epidemic.

Kids spend a lot less time outdoors these days. With technology like it is, they would rather be indoors watching DVD’s, playing on the computer, or using one of their many video games. We have allowed the active play to disappear from our children’s lives and in return have encouraged poor health. If you are looking for a way to start a fitness program for kids, you are taking the initiative to make a difference in a child’s life.

Trying to get a child to “exercise” is like trying to get them to eat their “vegetables”. They become resistant to the word. If you learn to think about exercise differently, you will have better luck encouraging it. First and foremost, be wary of telling your child you are going to start a fitness program for kids. This will typically cause them to resist you and dislike the whole thing.

Encouraging a child to play sometimes isn’t enough, you have to get out there and do it too. If you plan to start a fitness program for kids, it is very likely you yourself will see the benefits as well. Suggest a game of catch or Frisbee in the backyard. Take the dog for a walk together or go hiking. All of these are quality family activities that will encourage exercise.

If you child enjoys exercising already or if they adapt and want to begin a more concentrated effort to get more fit, introduce them to a program like Tony and the Kids. This is a fun way for kids to get fit and is great for rainy days when outdoor activity is out of the question.

Finding a practical way to start a fitness program for kids doesn’t have to be difficult but may take some trial and error. We have allowed our children to become like this and we must, as parents, do the work to guide them out of it.

Physical fitness is a very broad term. It includes everything from how you use your body to what you put in it. Keeping your body fit involves a few approaches. While diet is sometimes included, we are going to stick to the exercise aspect. The main components of physical fitness include cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and flexibility. These three things combine to make a complete physical fitness maintenance program.

The main components of physical fitness, cardio, strength training, and flexibility, can be used separately. There are many people who work out by doing cardio only and likewise some that prefer to only lift weights and get stronger. The really fit folks, however, understand that a balance is required in the quest for total body fitness.

The cardio aspect is a crucial main component of physical fitness because it is responsible for keeping your heart and lungs healthy. Yes, every time you hop on that treadmill or pop in the P90X Kenpo or Plyo DVD you are working your cardiovascular system. The health of your heart and lungs plays a major role in your overall health. In addition to this, cardio fitness burns major calories, a plus in the battle of the bulge.

Strength training has been shown to have far reaching benefits, doing much more than just building muscles. This main component of physical fitness includes lifting weights, using resistance bands, and using your own body weight to tone and define your muscles. Strength training can increase metabolism (through muscle growth), decrease stress, improve posture, and help combat chronic pain like arthritis.

Flexibility is the final main component of physical fitness. With flexibility, daily tasks are much easier. Like strength training, flexibility does wonders for posture. it also improves balance and coordination, allowing you to move your body through full ranges of motion.

All three of these components play a vital role in your overall physical fitness. One is not as effective without the others and all should be included in your weekly fitness regimen.

Working out at a gym takes a certain type of person. Most of us are not that person. We don’t like the driving there, the waiting for machines, and the feeling self conscious if we aren’t already fit when we get there. It’s a shame really that we shouldn’t feel comfortable getting fit in a place made for us to get fit, but it’s true for many people. No gym workout is as comfortable as working out at home and many of us would rather be getting our exercise where we can be comfortable.

As you don your spandex or holey t-shirt and sweats you probably feel comfortable knowing that no one will see you working out in your home. It is easy to see why people would rather get their fitness at home. You can sweat all you need to, wear what you want, and not have to worry about people seeing you make those faces or hearing your pant and grunt when the workout gets too hard. No gym workout allows you that kind of privacy.

No gym workout is as sanitary as working out in your own home either. Gross is wiping someone else’s sweat off of a machine when they don’t have the courtesy to do it for you. Sitting in other people’s funk to get your workout in doesn’t seem like a fair trade-off to me. Working out at home, you are the only sweaty beast and you can rest assured you won’t have to wait your turn for one of the showers.

Working out at home is great on a budget. No gym workout is free. Working out at home costs very little if anything at all. You may for a high quality workout system like P90X or ChaLEAN Extreme, but aside from that the only monthly charge you will have is buying the new clothes you will need as your body starts to change.

No gym workout can give everyone the same level of satisfaction. While some people consider the gym their second home, most prefer to work out where they feel comfortable and for many that is home.

So, you’re pressed for time. Fitting an hour workout into your already busy schedule seems like impossibility. However, if you have 30, 20, or even 10 extra minutes you have time for a workout. A flexible workout program created to fit your busy needs is exactly what Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer is all about. The program consists of ten minute workouts designed to be “stacked” however you like, depending on your available time.

We are all busy these days. You are not the only one who feels like they couldn’t possibly fit another activity into your day. We are overworked and most of us don’t take the time we need to take care of ourselves and our bodies. Some of us don’t rest until we are sick and don’t have a choice. A simple solution is a group of ten minute workouts that allow you to fit in what you can when you can.

Ten Minute Trainer consists of 4 ten minute workouts. These workouts are designed to really work your body in a limited amount of time. You get a Total Body, Lower Body, Cardio, and Yoga Flex workout with the 10 Minute Trainer system.

10 Minute Trainer works because it works with you rather than making you completely change your day around. If you can make 30 extra minutes in the morning, stack three workouts. If 20 minutes after work is more feasible, then pick two ten minute workouts. Do what you can and give every workout your all; you will see results.
