While childhood obesity is at all time highs, there are some teens getting into fitness earlier than ever. Whether this is a result of the obesity epidemic or something else, we cannot be certain. What we do know, however, is that when younger people get involved in fitness they must be fully informed on just how a fitness program can affect their body, their confidence, and their growth. On one hand, fitness tips for teens need to take the fact that their bodies are still growing into consideration. On the other, however, teens are young adults that can benefit from many of the same tips we give to our adult clients and readers.
When discussing fitness tips for teens it would be remiss of us not to address some safety concerns. During the teen years, the human body goes through drastic changes. This can be characterized by fluctuations in metabolism and weight gain, or loss, in different areas of the body. Often we see teen girls in particular developing poor self image around these years. A venture into fitness, for these girls, can be self destructive if not approached with a healthy mindset.
Learning how to exercise and how to fuel your body for a fitness lifestyle is key when addressing fitness tips for teens. The more you work out, the more you need to pay attention to your diet. Too much of the wrong foods and you may not see much progress no matter how often you are working out. On the opposite end of the spectrum, however, if you eat too little or restrict your calories too much, your body won’t have the fuel necessary to maintain your workouts. Balance is key here and a little trial and error may be necessary.
In general, fitness tips for teens aren’t all that different from fitness tips for adults. When a teen wants to get involved in a fitness program a quick chat with a doctor would be beneficial to lay some groundwork. Aside from that eating well, working out safely, and maintaining a healthy body image will set them on the path to lifelong fitness.
If you are a teen or know a teen who wants to start a new workout program, consider some of the dance workout DVD programs we have. Hip Hop Abs and Turbo Jam are especially popular with teen girls and are a great way to get started.

Starting a new habit can be difficult. It requires will power, determination, and persistence. In addition to these hurdles, you may have real tangible obstacles like time maintenance or a minimal workout budget. Regardless of the things that stand in your way, a real lifestyle change must take place in order to make a habit out of daily exercise.
In order to make daily exercise work, you need to make it a priority. All of those excuses involving lack of time and lack of energy are simply a lack of prioritizing. If exercise is a top priority, time isn’t as much of an issue. For example, if you are willing to make exercise more important than your nightly viewing of missed daytime shows on your DVR or if you are willing to make it more important than that ninth hour of sleep, the “not enough time” excuse loses validity very fast.
Finding a good time of day to workout, a workout program you like, and support from outside sources are all great helpers in making a habit of daily exercise. However, none of these “helpers” can make you exercise. If you have struggled with an exercise plan in the past, making this a habit requires a complete shift in your thinking.
Fitness must not be considered an option. It must become a reality, a priority, and a mainstay in your daily life for this new “habit” to take hold.
So, take the small steps of finding a good workout program, carving out time, and gaining support and motivation. But realize that on some days the support may not be there and time may be limited. On those days only a truly fitness centered lifestyle will survive the excuses of daily life.
A complete workout system that includes a nutritional plan and diverse workout routines can be another great “helper” when it comes to daily exercise. Have a rebuttal for every lack of time excuse with Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer. Also, check out tools like our resistance bands to make even the most budget minded workout, highly effective.

Once you have finally made the tough decision to get in to shape, another one awaits you. How should you do it? What home workout program would be best suited for you? There are so many different programs to choose from these days and a lot of confusing information to sort through.
Below are a few tips to help you pick the right program:
Tip 1: Consult with your doctor. Find out if there are any types of workouts you should avoid based on your physical health. Have your doctor give you a physical to make sure nothing has changed since your last visit.
Tip 2: Take a really good look at your weekly schedule. Figure out a realistic amount of time that could be set aside to dedicate to your workout. Don’t forget to include some relaxing time in the equation, it is just as important to your health to be able to unwind and relax or to do something fun. Can you dedicate 1 hour a day, 3-4 days a week? Be specific and realistic, pick the exact days and times.
Tip 3: Research a bunch of home workout programs that you think you may enjoy doing. You should really know the basic concepts behind them. Are they geared toward muscle building, losing weight fast or toning? Are the programs structured like a traditional workout or is it something else, like a workout based around dancing. Figure out what you would enjoy the most. It makes it much easier to motivate yourself to do the workouts if you can enjoy them!
Tip 4: Set some personal goals. Do you want to lose 5lbs or just tone up your butt. Knowing what you want to get out of it before hand will help in making the right choice.
Here are a few different types of programs you may want to consider:
P90x : 6 Days a Week, 1hr -1 1/2 hrs a Day, Cross Training Program, using Cardio & Strength Training Techniques
10 Minute Trainer : Flexible days, 10 Minutes or More a Day, Super Stacking Program, using Cardio & Strength Training Techniques
Slim in 6: 6 Days a Week, 30 Minutes to 1 Hour a Day , Slim Training Program, using Cardio & Light Resistance Training Techniques
Hip Hop Abs: 6 Days a Week, 30 Minutes to 1 Hour a Day, Absolute Engagement Program, using Cardio & Targeted Ab Sculpting Techniques

So you want fitness tips that will keep your motivation on high? Fitness advice is a great way to stay motivated and keep your eyes on the prize. Getting fit isn’t always easy, especially if you’ve got a long way to go. Little things make all the difference in propelling you towards your goals. There are several ways to get fitness tips to work for you.
Subscribe to fitness magazines. If you like to read magazines, this is a great way to learn about your fitness journey and keep your mind on getting fit. A monthly magazine that you enjoy packed with fitness tips and good health news can be a great way to stay in the zone. Plus, it makes it hard to fall off the fitness wagon when you have the literature of a fitness buff in your living room.
Use sticky notes. Short fitness tips posted around the house are another excellent motivator. “Are you really hungry?” is a great one for the frig. Try putting a “Talk a walk” note on your closet door or a “Can you walk there” where you hang your car keys. These little notes only take a second but can be that little voice in your head when the real little voice isn’t paying attention.
Use technology. Some of us are in front of the computer all day long. Use the first 10 minutes when you get to the officer or right before your lunch break to catch up on your favorite fitness blogs and website. Again, these provide a great source of information and can simply remind you what you are working toward. Also, use a motivating screen saver.
Peruse the literature you already have around the house for great fitness tips and use them! Workout systems like P90X come with a fitness guide chocked full of information. Hip Hop Abs has a great resource “Results on the Run”. This booklet of fitness tips is a great piece of information to keep in your car or pocketbook.
Keep fitness tips around you at all times. By immersing yourself in a healthy lifestyle, you are more likely to adjust to that lifestyle and continue living it.

Whether you are someone who likes to stay fit or someone who struggles with it, fitness tips can serve a legitimate purpose for you. A little coaching and motivation goes a long way for anyone who is a fitness fanatic or just getting started with a program. Fitness tips are about more than education and learning something new; they work to keep your eyes on the prize and your actions lined up with your goals.
There are hundreds of sources for good fitness tips on the web. When deciding who to trust with your fitness tips, consider the source. If you like a certain blog on a site selling popular workout programs (ah-hem), chances are the website will provide quality tips relating to their products but also to general health subjects as well.
Personal blogs can also be a great source of tips too, however. Some of the most motivational pieces on the web are from people who struggle with their own weight and work on a daily basis to keep it off and stay healthy. These people know your situation and it is easy to identify with them. Their fitness tips can come in the form of how they overcome cravings or lack of motivation.
Simply reading about fitness advances and new articles can also be a great motivation. Chances are your favorite fitness magazine has an official website. And more than likely, that website contains articles, discussion boards, and even recipes. Fitness tips are everywhere you turn on sites like this.
Use fitness tips to your advantage. Find one or several sources that you like and bookmark them. Check them out in the morning while you drink your coffee or over your lunch break. Allowing your personal time to become an opportunity for motivation will help you stick with the program and continue to see great results.
