A lot of people have questions concerning the accessories that go with Tony Horton’s P90X. Especially when deciding between using the chin up bar or getting the resistance bands with the upgrade kit so you can do the modified versions of chin ups and pull ups. How do you decide whats going to work best for you chin up bar or resistance bands with the upgrade kit?
Well, here are some things to think about when making your decisions. First, you want to make sure that you have a door frame for either of these options somewhere close to where you are planning on doing your workouts. Now the chin up bar fits doorways 24″ – 32″ wide, and a doorway with trim is required. Whereas with the resistance bands and upgrade kit you also need a doorway but you need the metal hinges that hook the door to the frame, not the trim. By hooking the door attachment included with the upgrade kit, around the metal hinge, it allows you to do all the modifed versions of what you would do with the chin up bar with the resistance bands.
Now those are the technical differences to help you make your decision. Along with that take into account whether you want to get out of your workouts physically. They are both going to give you a challenge and work your muscle tissue, but you have more control over how much resistance you have if you use the resistance bands unlike the chin up bar where you are picking up your entire weight or modifying things by standing on a chair. They are both great products it really just depends on what you are looking for. If you have any questions regarding the P90X accessories check out www.ExtremeBodyWorkout.com.

One way to ensure you are able to get a workout just about anywhere is either to workout without equipment or have equipment that is highly portable. While chin ups are one of the best basic workout moves you can do, there are not a lot of easy options when it comes to doing them on the road. There are portable chin up bars, but many of them border on unsafe and there is another option that provides nearly the same quality workout with major portability.
Resistance bands are highly effective and highly underrated. They can be used in a wide range or exercise moves and are the ultimate in portable fitness equipment. In a pinch they can take the place of hand weights, numerous gym machines, and even portable chin up bars.
When used with a cardio belt, they can even give you a great source of resistance for indoor cardio training. When paired with a door attachment, resistance bands become a variety of workout tools including a perfect replacement for a portable chin up bar. They can be shoved in a desk drawer, suitcase, or briefcase and be used in a hotel room or even your office on a break.
The vast majority of people looking to purchase a portable chin up bar will consider a tension mounted bar. While these can serve their purpose, a quick look at consumer reviews online will show that they also pose more than their share of issues. Some tension mounted pull up bars are known to crack door frames when tightened too much and fall, potentially causing injury, when not tightened enough.
When you spend time on the road or away from your home chin up bar, you want an alternative that is safe, effective, and easy to pack away. Resistance bands are the best option when it comes to offering the same benefits of a portable chin up bar and more.

In the pursuit of health and a fit body we seek out high quality but affordable workout equipment. Knowing which pieces of equipment are mandatory and which are optional is important. However, knowing which models are built to last and deliver big results is sometime even more crucial. For home workouts involving pull ups, a tension mounted chin up bar is one piece of equipment that many people consider.
A tension mounted chin up bar typically works by using springs or a screw mechanism of some sort. It is designed to fit inside the door frame of an interior door of your home. These pull up bars are available from many retailers under several brand names. One only needs to do a little further research, however, to see that consumers aren’t often giving these bars the highest reviews.
One of the issues with a tension mounted chin up bar is the stress it puts on the door frame. Some consumer reviews indicate that adjusting your bar too tightly will damage and crack wood door frames. In addition, some have reported the tension chin up bar is not reliably safe. These people have either fallen or determined a tension mounted chin up bar simply isn’t stable enough.
So what are the other options?

Remember the physical fitness tests in school when you were young? There were always a few kids who could just knock out rep after rep of pull ups on the pull up bar. Or do the bar-hang until their arms shook and their knees slowly came up to meet their chest. Now that we are adults, however, getting a good workout on the pull up bar isn’t just about getting as many in as possible, it’s about quality.
Pull up bars offer a great workout. If you have P90X you have likely seen all of the [pull up methods that can provide amazing arms, shoulder, back, and chest workouts. Having a pull up bar as part of your home fitness equipment can really expand your potential with the P90X program and beyond.
No, you don’t have to use a pull up bar in the P90X program. Bit, it is recommended. There is nothing quite as effective as lifting your own body weight. One of the most effective exercises of all time, the push up, is evidence of this.
Pull up bars come in many varieties. Probably the most commonly seen in the gym are the tower stands. These bars are quite tall and often allow for dips and knee raises as well. They are versatile. However, they are an extremely inconvenient option for in the home. They simply take up too much room and are far from portable.
A better option is a pull up bar that can be mounted in a doorway and easily removed. The P90X chin up bar is a good example of this. Rather than the tension pull up bars that you often see advertised, this bar uses hardware to mount. This makes the equipment far sturdier and able to withstand your weight.
Tension pull up bars can be okay to use but a quick search on the Internet shows they have regular problems with stability and can even lead to cracking on the door frame in which they are mounted.
Pull up bars offer a great workout tool. Whether you are looking for one to use with P90X or your own system, the P90X chin up bar is an excellent choice.

Pull ups are great for so many reasons. They combine some of the most visible muscles to lift your own body weight, the ultimate in resistance training. Prior to now, chin ups had to be done at the gym or anywhere there was a sturdy bar. More than likely (unless you live in a warehouse), you don’t have chin-up worthy pipes or bars in your home. Now, however, that can change.
The P90X chin up bar is the ultimate in home chin up bars. It is easily installed and easily taken down as well. It is far sturdier than many of the spring loaded home chin up bars and made with top of the line materials.

When you decide to take your fitness home with you, forgoing the costly dues and inconveniences of the gym for the comfort of your own home gym, you start collecting items. A mounted pull up bar is an affordable and logical addition to any home gym, however, and especially useful with the P90X program.
With a program like P90X you don’t need a hulking gym in your home. You don’t need to spend thousands of dollars for a piece of equipment that takes up an entire room. If you’ve already started the P90X series, you know what I mean when I talk about “bringing it”. If you haven’t, Tony Horton encourages participators to “bring it” in each P90X workout. This just means he wants you to put your all into every move, and every rep. Do your workout with enthusiasm and determination. If you can increase how challenging the workout is with a P90X chin up bar, then you are definitely “bringing it”.
P90X chin up bars are an excellent way to increase the resistance on several of the P90X DVDs. Although the P90X chin up bar isn’t required, it’s a superb way to multiply your results while doing the P90X program. As you lift your own body weight off the ground, you are challenging your arms, shoulders, back, and core.
Our P90X chin up bar is a simple install and easily removable when not in use. It mounts into nearly any door frame (24-32″). Once mounted, you can hang and remove in seconds, making it an extremely convenient addition to your workout. Unlike some similar products on the market, the P90X chin up bar extends past the door frame, allowing for wide grips as well.
It’s constructed of heavy gauge steel and is extremely durable. This rugged piece of equipment is made to withstand up to 300 pounds and allows for up to 6 different grip positions. It has professional grade foam grips to prevent slippage and help you get your burn on!
Sure you can use resistance bands for the chest and back workouts and still see results. But, if you are looking to maximize your results and truly bring it, the P90X chin up bar is for you. Like sit ups and crunches for abs, nothing quite compares to the workout you get from a classic pull up. The P90X chin up bar is a great way to take your workout and your results to the next level. If you are going to go extreme and do the P90X series, you should do it to the max and do it with the P90X chin up bar.
