While I know some of you are thinking “Wow, must be rough!”, it actually is rough. Imagine being the “bean pole” or the “skinny kid” throughout your life. Having an extremely thin frame presents its own difficulties for sure.</p>

When you’ve reached the 90 day mark and are basking in the many rewards, how will you celebrate? Sure, new workout clothes or a night on the town is a good start. Sharing your experience can motivate others and keep you on track as well.</p>

High intensity interval training moves, also known as HIIT, traditionally involve short bursts of intense work followed by short periods of rest. You’ll see it on your P90X calendar and breathe a sigh of relief because it signifies a day of rest, a day to take it easy, and a day to stretch away the aches and soreness of the previous P90X week. While it’s included as a “suggestion” for rest days in the P90X Classic approach, it’s a suggestion that we really urge you to take.</p>
<h4>Flexibility is often overlooked in workout programs despite its known benefits. It doesn’t only feel good to stretch, it can improve your fitness results and quite simply make life easier!</h4>
<p> </p>
<p>Stretch X P90X is designed to increase your flexibility and give you a “time out” from the really strenuous P90X workouts. It includes some gentle yoga stretches and really basic stretches that you can do whenever you have the chance. Use it as a learning tool and you will likely find some favorite stretches that you can do again and again.</p>
<p>So why is Stretch X P90X included with the program if it’s an “easy” workout and completely “optional”? Because Tony Horton and the people over at Beachbody know just how important stretching is to a fitness plan. Stretching can actually prevent injury and makes it far easier to go about your daily life. Reaching, bending, and twisting aren’t accompanied with a groan of discomfort when you regularly stretch.</p>
<p>While in some of the approaches Stretch X P90X is completely optional, we encourage people to do it frequently. Do it on your rest day and if you’re up to it—add it to a few other days a week. Stretching won’t hinder your progress and you may find it gives you a nice way to cool down after the daily P90X workout!</p>

When a doctor tells you to “take it easy” for several weeks and even months, it can sideline any fitness goals you may have been working on. When you can’t workout, it’s easy to slip back into lazy ways, forgetting that what you eat will also affect your health and fitness. Being banned from exercise is a death sentence for some, leading to stress and serious stir-craziness. But, when do you know it’s okay to start working out again and how do you go about it?</p>
<h4>After an injury you should never go back to working out without discussing it with your physician. If you go against a doctors recommendations you could hinder the natural healing process and actually make the injury worse.</h4>

<p>Once you have talked to your doctor about your desire to get back in the fitness saddle, you need to choose a workout program. It’s not a bad idea to talk to your doctor about this as well. For obvious reasons, you don’t want to jump into the P90X Plyometrics DVD immediately after breaking a foot but maybe your foot can handle the Yoga X DVD or the less cardio-intensive ChaLEAN Extreme program. Think about where the injury is and lean towards workouts that will take it easy on this area of the body.</p>
<p>As you begin working out again, you will notice tightness. After not working out for an extended period, your injury will be stiff and the rest of your body will be out of training condition as well. <h3>Learning to recognize the different between discomfort and actual pain is crucial when coming back from an injury. If it hurts intensely—STOP.</h3>

<p>Baby your injury after working out as well. If you are slightly sore or if you experience any swelling, apply ice for about 15 minutes and elevate the ankle or injured part in question. You will need to take more days off than before and really listen to your body.</p>
<p>Coming back from an injury is a slow process and one that should only be taken with extreme patience. While it’s not as frustrating as being sequestered to the sidelines, it can be tough to slow yourself down when you’re given the clear to workout. Just remember to take it easy and talk with your doctor about any concerns.</p>
