As a generalized answer, any excess sugar will be converted and stored as fat. Excess meaning any glucose that your body does not use as energy or that has been converted and stored in you liver or muscles as glycogen for later use.
Fructose and sucrose (table sugar) have identical chemical formulas: C6H12O6. The difference is in the structure of the molecule, which is why fructose is sweeter than sucrose. Without going into a chemistry lesson, fructose can be broken down then rebuilt into glucose for energy production through a few extra steps. So essentially, fructose can eventually be converted to energy as glucose, and any excess will be converted into glycogen for storage. Your liver and muscles can only hold a certain amount of glycogen, so anything over that amount will be converted and stored as fat. Of course, there is no limit to the amount of fat our bodies can store. Wouldn’t it be great if there was a limit?
Your overall carbohydrate/sugar intake needs to be taken into consideration, wether it’s fructose or sucrose.
