You know by now that P90X2 isn’t some walk-in-the-park workout program. This is a tough system and there is a basic fitness level requirement. You can’t go from a completely sedentary lifestyle to P90X2, or you would risk injury. If you are really honest with yourself, you probably know whether or not you are ready for a program like this. But, to be sure, Beachbody has included a way to find out. It’s called the P90X2 Fit Test and it’s on page 32 of your P90X2 Fitness Guide.
The P90X and P90X2 Fit Tests Are the Same!
Yep, exactly the same. This isn’t because the people at Beachbody didn’t feel like coming up with a new one; it’s because these programs are pretty similar in styles of fitness. If you are a P90X graduate, you already know that you’ll pass the fit test, because you’ve done it before. However, if not, the P90X2 Fit Test will give you an accurate picture of your current physical condition and let you know if you’re ready to really Bring It!
What’s included in the P90X2 Fit Test?
The P90X2 Fit Test begins will take you about 40 minutes, so it’s important to plan ahead. You’ll want to take it at least a few days before you plan on starting the system. It requires you to take your resting heart rate, go through a 10 minute warm up, followed by a series of exercises designed to measure your fitness level. These exercises include:
- Push-Ups
- Pull-Ups
- Vertical Leap
- Wall Squats
- Toe Touch
- Bicep Curls
- Ins and Outs
- Heart Rate Maximizer
For each exercise, there is a minimum level that will qualify you for P90X2. Your goal is to meet this level. If you aren’t extremely active and fit, this will be a challenge, so don’t be surprised. But keep good form and do your best, taking notes whenever possible.
What if I don’t pass?
If you don’t pass the P90X2 fit test, don’t worry. You can work your way up to this program. Start with something like Power 90 or Ten Minute Trainer. These systems aren’t super easy, but they will give you that fitness base that’s needed to succeed in a strenuous program like P90X2. All hope is not lost if you don’t pass the first time. This program is not out of your reach. Give another system a month and come back to try again. Every little bit of effort you put towards this program will pay off in the long run!
