Many people begin workout programs like P90X. But fewer people actually finish them. While this could be due to a variety of reasons, usually, there is no legitimate excuse. Sure, people will say they didn’t have the time. But the truth is, they simply didn’t make the time. They might also say they simply could find the motivation. While I stand by my opinion that motivation is overrated, it can really help people along in reaching their fitness goals. Even with a system like P90X, motivation can mean the difference between a skipped workout and a productive workout.

Staying motivated with P90X isn’t really that difficult. One of the great things about this program is that your daily workouts are constantly changing. Gone are the days of doing a workout program and recycling the same video day after day after day. Not only are you not using the same DVD every day, you aren’t even using the same workout approach. The level of diversity in the P90X program ensures you don’t get bored.

Motivation is a level of excitement or anticipation you feel before and during a workout. It’s often the thing that means the difference between a good workout and a great workout. It’s definitely related to your energy level and the dedication you have towards your fitness goals. But motivation isn’t always there and sometimes we have to move forward without it.

Though motivation is not a requirement, it can certainly make your workouts more fun and possibly even more productive. Goal setting is one way to stay motivated. Both short and long term goals can keep you working towards something throughout the week and throughout all 90 days of the P90X workout program.

Another motivation booster involves visualization. Spend a few moments each day visualizing the results you want. See yourself in your favorite outfit or a brand new outfit. Imagine how it feels to reach your goals, being slimmer and more toned. Think about how this will affect your day to day life, your confidence level, and your mood. Visualization like this is very powerful in keeping you focused on the end results and keeping you motivated for every P90X workout.

There’s really no limit to what might motivate you on P90X. The infomercial is a great motivational tool, as are message boards and blogs that discuss the P90X system. When you find yourself feeling particularly motivated, ask yourself what it is that helped get you to that point. Recreating your motivation on a daily basis doesn’t have to be difficult.
