High intensity interval training is hard work. It’s effective because it pushes you to maximize your body’s output for short bursts. Typically. MAX Interval Training, however, like what you see in the Insanity Workout program requires you to maximize your output for extended periods with short “rest” periods. It’s still a method of interval training. But, it’s interval training to the MAX!
Anytime there’s a intense workout system, people wonder if its appropriate for beginners. The answer to this question is yes. High intensity interval training for beginners is a great way to boost your results in a fitness program. Whether you are looking at the Insanity Workout or another workout system—interval training is a great way to get fit.
One of the great things about high intensity interval training for beginners is that, in most circumstances, it can grow with you. Obviously when you begin the Insanity Workout program it will be difficult. No workout program worth its weight is easy. The old adage “no pain, no gain” holds true. The harder you are willing to work, the better your results will be. With Insanity Workout, just as you are adjusting to doing the MAX Interval Training, it’s time to step it up to more challenging workouts.
If you’re still not sure if high intensity interval training for beginners is right for you—try it. There’s no sense in being scared of something you’ve never tried. If the HIIT program of your choice is Insanity Workout, rest assured it’s covered with our satisfaction guarantee. (Check out our returns policy for more information). My best guess is that if you try Insanity Workout for a few weeks, you will wonder why you even doubted it in the first place.
As with any workout program, if you have doubts, consult your doctor. If you have medical conditions, you may want to get clearance before beginning any high intensity interval training for beginners, let alone something as intense as the Insanity Workout system.
High intensity interval training is actually a great way for fitness novices to really break onto the fitness scene. Because HIIT training produces such great results in a relatively short amount of time, you can expect to be shocked with what your body is capable of doing. Remember though, a workout isn’t nearly as effective without a good diet. Fuel your body for your fitness goals and you won’t regret it.

I am a 54 year old female. I am not overweight, but out of shape, and would like to build muscle and increase my metabolism. I belong to the local fitness club, but do not work out on a regular basis since my degenerative joint disease, and arthritis in my neck/back flare up and I stop and wait until it calms down as to not injure myself. However, I know that strong muscles to support my spine can actually help with these disorders. My question to you is if this intense workout is advisable for people like me? I need an answer besides your the “ask your doctor”. The doctors say if it hurts, don’t do it. Right. Do you have any feedback from customers who have these types of problems? Are they successful?
Hello Diane,
I would not recommend Insanity for someone with your conditions. You really need to be able participate fully in this program consistently for 60 days. If your joint pain is causing you to stop working out for some period of time, this is not the workout for you.
I would recommend something shorter and less impactive for you. Also, In my opinion, you have to be a little bit in shape to take this program on. It’s tough! You need a program where you can have more control so that you can take it easy if you have to without quitting the program all together. Perhaps a program like Slim in 6 would be great for you. You start out at a beginner level and don’t move on to the more difficult levels until you are comfortable.
