When you start a workout program, a large part of your motivation is the results. I mean who would put forth the effort that a workout system knowing they would experience no benefits? Knowing what to expect with your new workout program can help elevate your motivation and improve your dedication. One of the hottest new programs out there can credit its success to its potential results. Insanity workout results have the potential to be dramatic and life changing—when you are ready to put in the work.
This workout plan is created for big results. In order to achieve maximum Insanity workout results you will have to put forth maximum effort. Using MAX Interval Training, Insanity workouts blast fat with extreme cardio and sculpt muscles with high intensity strength training. The Insanity workout results of this combination are a lean, strong body with low body fat and truly insane definition.
Are Insanity workout results the same for everyone? No. Quite simply, everyone is made differently so your results will vary. However, if you make a commitment to the program and stick with it, you will see dramatic changes. My “dramatic changes” may be different from yours just because of slight differences in our genetics and even how we execute the workouts. But the fact remains: Insanity workout results are made to be extreme.
There’s a reason why the Insanity workout promises insane results: it’s because that’s what the program has the ability to deliver. There are very few workout systems on the market that can deliver the same results as this program and none achieve them in quite this manner. The system requires no equipment—just you and your body—ready and willing to lay it all on the line.

What is the difference between P90X and the insanity workout?
Hello Billy,
Insanity and P90X are two completely different approaches to fitness.
P90X uses resistance to work all areas of the body, along with a couple of intense cardio sessions. P90X basically alternates between resistance, cardio, and yoga or stretching. So one day you will be working your chest and back, the next day you will be doing a plyometric cardio routine. The next day you might work shoulders and arms, then Yoga. With P90X, you will use bands or dumbbells for resistance and a chin-up bar.
With Insanity, you are constantly moving. It’s like supercharged cardio with resistance training using your body only. There isn’t any equipment necessary for Insanity. Just your body. Your lungs need to be in good shape to tackle this one!!! They are both great programs that will kick your butt into shape, just different approaches to doing that.
If you like cardio and fast paced exercise, go with Insanity. If you like concentrating on certain muscle groups and using bands or dumbbells to build muscle, go with P90X.

I am 5’4 and 105 Ibs. I work out 5-6 days a week doing cardio. I would like to tone up and really work and tone my legs, butt, thighs, and arms mostly. Would the Insanity or the P90x workout be the best for me?
My biggest concern is that I don’t want to get bulky…just toned and defined.
Hi Meghan,
since you already do cardio 5-6 times per week, I would go with Insanity. You will tone and firm you entire body while doing some really intense cardio work.

Hello there!
I am female, 5 feet tall and in overall lean shape. I employ good nutrition habits, but do miss meals some times. My current weight ranges between 109-111 Ibs., but most of the 10 pounds out of the 100 pounds *appears* in my belly area–size 29 waist! I work out 4-5 days a week which consists of a 90 min kick-boxing/yoga classes every Monday evening and utilize Billy Blanks boot camp dvds Tues-Friday evening for an hour. ( I’ve also had great success with out-door military style boot-camps, but my schedule & the costs now make the outdoor military style BC prohibitive). My upper body & esp. arms are always the first to get toned & actually nicely ripped, but my waist and Abs take MUCH longer. I’ve recently purchased P90X and plan to get started this month, but I’m now wondering if Insanity is the best workout to slim the waist and flatten these Abs? BTW, with intense cardio (like the out-door boot camps) I tend to lose weight FAST, as my metabolism is quite insane. In the past, I’ve lost 13 pounds in 3 weeks ( eating 5-6 meals a day) doing the outdoor boot camps, so I have to be careful not to get to thin. Yet, even when I was exercising (for about 24 weeks total) with the out door Boot camp –my waist only got down to 27 inches while my body weight became 98 pounds of muscle every where else. Right now, I desire a slimmer waistline ( 24-25 inches) and 6 pack Abs
, so do you recommend P90x or Insanity?

It is time for me to blast the baby fat! I am 23 years old and just had my first baby, a beautiful baby girl, but I had a very rough pregnancy and an insane amount of weight gain. I gained nearly 60lbs and was on bed rest for the last 2 months of my pregnancy. I need to lose this weight and get back in to my top physical shape I was in prior to having my little girl.
I would work out 3-5 times a week as a member of the United States Navy and prior to the Navy I swam for over 8 years competitivly. Needless to say, I hate feeling like I am living in this fat suit and am ready to make a seroius change in my life to be back to me.
I have joined Nutrisystem to make sure I don’t over indulge myself and now I need a workout plan to jump start my body.
Would you recommend Insanity for my needs?
Mar 12, 2011 @ 22:54:37
hey there!!
i am currently deciding if i should try the insanity workout. i am about 5’8″ and 154 pounds. i really want to burn off but still keep my weight. i workout 5-6 days a week and run every other day. would insanity be a good option?
Mar 23, 2011 @ 21:40:45
I’m 5’10 157lbs and I’m wondering if I should do p90x or Insanity workout. I’m pretty fit considering I hit the gym 6 days a week but I would like to be cut and built and no matter what I do in the gym I don’t see much of a difference. So I wanted to give one of these work out programs a try. I mean I have nothing to loose.

Hello Dusty,
it sounds like you hit a plateau and are in need of some change. Both Insanity and P90X are great programs that deliver results even to people who are already fit. The question is, do want a program that is cardio driven or a program with a a good mix of cardio and strength training?
Insanity is crazy. If you stink at cardio, this is not the program for you. If you love to lift and tend to skip the treadmill, this is not the program for you! Don’t get me wrong, Insanity does have a great deal of strength training, but you are using your body only. At the same time, your heart rate will be higher because of the cardio element. It’s like cardio and strength training at the same time.
P90X has some great cardio elements and some weight training that you can really take off with, just not at the same time! Like a typical weekly workout schedule, you will do resistance training M, W & F, cardio on T & S, rest on Sunday and a Yoga routine on Thursday. There is a little more variety here, but some people don’t want to do the Yoga or have to have dumbbells or resistance bands.
Two different workouts, two ways to approach fitness, both pretty effective.

i just started the insanity program and just want to know is it better to do the workouts in the morning or after work?
Hello Sarah,
in general, it is better to workout in the morning before you eat breakfast. Of course we all can’t live by the same schedule, so it’s best to do your workout when you can fit it in. Otherwise, if you are struggling to workout in the morning, that could lead to giving up.

I am on week 4 of the program. I’ve gone from 184 to about 180
Is that the normal weight loss? I guess my question is should I be expecting better results or just need to be more patient?
Jun 29, 2011 @ 11:21:47
Hello Micheal,
it could be that you are gaining muscle. Do you have a body fat tester? You can’t really see how much fat you are burning when you are also gaining muscle by stepping on the scale. Some people don’t see any results until week 8, so I think you are on the right track.

I am on day 23.. I am losing my motivation because I am actually up 5 lbs and I started measurements but I haven’t lost. I literally push myself to the limit and I’ve cut back on a lot of junk I used to eat. I know everyone is different, but when can I expect to really notice a difference? I definately have a difference in stamina but I want to see the pounds drop. I’m 5’6 i went from 140 to 145 and as a girl, that’s not what I want
. . Do I need to add something else? I’m at a loss because I truly have not missed one day and I finish the workouts and drip sweat everyday. Hellpppp!!
Hello Tanya,
it could be that your are gaining muscle, so I would concentrate on your body fat percentage. If you are following the Nutrition Plan and finishing your workouts every day, chances are that you are gaining results, but the scale might be deceiving due to muscle gain. The Nutrition Plan is important to follow if you want to lose weight.

Hello,
I am 5’7 and I weigh approx 143lbs, I wanted to gain lower body weight in my legs, and butt. Which would be the best for me. I dont want to lose weight but i know it may happen but i want to gain as much muscle weight as possible.
Hello Anouska,
the best way to add good size to your legs and butt is with muscle. In the process of gaining muscle, you will be burning fat so you will probably go down in size first, which isn’t a such bad thing, but you will start to see an increase in size if you are doing the right exercises and using a good amount of resistance. Insanity is great for burning off fat and toning muscle. If you want to add size, you might have to use some weights a couple times per week. Heavier weights build mass while lighter weights mostly tone. If you are going to use heavier weights, be sure to only do 8-10 reps each set.

Hello,
I am 5’2 and about 115 lbs. I’ve been working on toning my lowerbody and loosing fat around my waist but other then that not necessarily loosing weight. I just got Insanity and was wondering if this was the right program for me seeing as I’m not really looking to lose much weight and just tone.
Oct 31, 2011 @ 22:50:57
hey guys i have a quiestion wath´s better for me if i am 6,2ft tall and my weight 165.3 pounds
son im very skinny
what do you guys think?
Oct 31, 2011 @ 22:52:51
insanity or P90X
Nov 18, 2011 @ 13:41:25
Hello Jorge,
I would go for the P90X which will give you the opportunity to add muscle weight. Using heavier weights and doing fewer reps will help to build bulk rather than lean muscle.

Hello there
i am about 5’9″ and at 270 lbs, I dont want to build any mass whatsoever in fact i want to lose A LOT
if i ONLY do Insanity and nothing else but stay on it religiously what are some reasonable results to expect, also i assume i can redo this workout again and again and see continued results as long as I stick to it, is this true?
Hello Anthony,
with Insanity you will build muscle, but it will be lean muscle since you wont be using any weights. You will be using your body weight in some instances, but not enough to build bulky muscles. Plus you will be doing so much cardio, you wont have to worry about that.
You can do multiple rounds of Insanity,or you can move on to the Asylum if you feel you are up to a new challenge!

So I am 5’3 140lbs and I do not work out regularly. Is insanity even safe for me to begin doing?
Feb 28, 2012 @ 23:05:45
I am 5′ 3″ and weigh 112, it seems like since I have been doing insanity that my jeans are tighter on me through the hips and legs. I have been eating healthy, definitely not adding too many calories. Why is this happening? I don’t want bulky thighs.
Hello Chrissy,
you are most likely gaining muscle! There is no way that you could be adding fat if you are doing Insanity and eating well. I have done Insanity and even being a P90X grad, I was having trouble with that one! With Insanity your leg muscles will be used a lot! At 5’3″, 112 pounds you are probably petite, right? Your BMI is most likely normal to lean, so you are probably just experiencing a little muscle growth! I wouldn’t worry too much about bulk because the amount of cardio that you have to do with Insanity will keep your muscles pretty lean.
Keep up the good work!
-Mike

Im 31 5/11 260 . I want to loose weight. I would like to get down to 220 but a good 220 if you know what I mean. Will this program help me loose weight or just gain muscle. Im getting older and I need to stop the problem before it gets out of control. The weight I mean. Thank you in advance.
Hello Shiloh,
Insanity is a very intense cardio driven program. You will burn a ton of calories, but you will also be working on creating lean, not bulky muscles. You also have to keep a close eye on what you are eating. Because this program is mostly cardio, the amount of calories you take in can really effect your weight loss. If you take in too many calories, and from bad sources, you workouts will just burn of the excess and you wont make any progress. The Nutrition Guide gives you a calorie range to say in if you want to lose weight while working out with Insanity. I think you can reach your goals using Insanity, but you have to be sure and keep within the guidelines of the nutrition guide.

OK I’m 34 5’8″ and 200 lbs. Larger in the stomach, hips and butt area. I would also like to tone muscle on my arms. Would insanity be a program for me? I have never been much of a person to exercise but I know i need and want to do something to lose the weight?
Hello Tabatha,
if you have never been into working out, you may want to start with a different program. Insanity is really tough. Even Shaun T takes breaks during his own workout! I wouldn’t want you to start and quit. If you like Shaun T, I would start out with one of the Hip Hop Abs or Rocken’ Body programs. You could also try Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer. The 10 Minute Trainer is a great program for those who are just starting out. It allows you to progress from working out for only 10 minutes per day to 30 minutes per day. This will help you to get your body ready for a workout like Insanity. If you don’t feel like buying a program just to get you ready to buy Insanity, that is totally understandable! So I would at least start doing basic exercises to get warmed up to working out. Insanity is highly cardio driven, so I would start there. Start running, swimming or some other cardiovascular exercises because if you aren’t comfortable doing cardio, starting with Insanity will leave your legs and your lungs burning!

I’m 5’4 and about 140 lbs. I wanna be 115 with toned legs, butt and abs. Is this workout right for me? And should I stop at a point so I don’t gain a lot of muscle?
Jun 18, 2012 @ 12:58:45
I’m 21, 5’11, and 270. I would like to be in the range of 205 and 210 lbs. Is it possible to lose that much weight with one round of insanity, or do you think it will take a few rounds?
