Creating Your Own Healthy Recipes


j0428647You don’t have to be a chef to come up with good meal ideas. If healthy eating is something new to you, start simple and build on what you like. Healthy recipes don’t have to be complicated though you can make them as complex as you want. The key to eating healthy home cooked meals is fresh ingredients; the rest is just fun in the kitchen.

 

The best healthy recipes all have one thing in common: fresh produce. Your grocers produce department needs to become your second home when you embark on a new healthy eating plan. Long gone are the days of shopping the inner aisles. Fresh produce and lean proteins should be tops on your shopping lists.

 

Another key aspect to building tasty healthy recipes are fresh herbs and spices. You may be lucky and have a good enough produce department that things like fresh parsley and rosemary are in abundance. However, if that’s not the case, check the spice aisle and try a few new flavors a week. Some brands feature suggestions on the spice labels, telling you what foods they are best paired with.

 

Healthy recipes can be as simple as a grilled meat with a new spice rub and a side of fresh vegetables. Chicken and seafood can be easily and immediately transformed with a new rub. Vegetables are also easy to change up with a new preparation method and spices.
