Have you ever had a workout buddy or had a friend who liked getting fit? The camaraderie is strong among people with similar goals. When you talk about something you are excited about with other people, it gets you more motivated and focused. Online communities are able to deliver the same sort of support. A P90X forum unites people with similar goals to share their experiences with the P90X workout system.
Although there is no P90X forum here at ExtremeBody Workout we do offer a highly informative blog where staff and users can contribute. We know what that kind of support can do for your resolve. Comparing notes and experiences encourages excitement and motivation. Sharing your personal struggles with the system also invites words on encouragement from other community members.
Most online communities, including a P90X forum are created when someone wants to bring together people of common interests. All the people in a P90X forum have joined because they are currently doing the program, have completed the program, or want more information about the program. These community members are interested in communicating with other P90Xers.
When using a P90X forum, however, remember that most of the people are regular people like you. They may have completed the P90X program and have great information about what worked and didn’t work for them. But, the majority of them aren’t trainers or fitness experts. Use the community as a place to share ideas but don’t seek out professional advice there.
A good P90X forum should offer a before and after thread letting people post photos and stats of their progress. These threads are extremely motivating, even if you aren’t doing the P90X program. The P90X system is extreme and will deliver extreme results to those who follow it correctly.

has anyone stuck with the diet from the guide p90x came with?
Sep 08, 2009 @ 18:00:46
hi, I am about to start the P90X as soon as I get my dvds, and I am very excited; I have been looking over the nutrition tips online, and I do not see any type of butter on the list.
I am wondering, is there a particular substitute or type of butter I should purchase when I do my shopping trip?? I cannot imagine a piece of wheat toast without even a little bit of butter! Please let me know! thank you.
Hi Ashley,
you want to limit fats as much as possible, but I know sometimes when cooking, they can’t be avoided. If you notice on the lists of fats, olive oil is acceptable and you can get a butter type spread made of olive oil at your local grocery store. It’s not 100% olive oil, I don’t think, but if you needed to us any “butter” go for the olive oil spread.

I just started the program 2 days ago….I’m dying. I started fairly out of shape and am so extremely sore! I don’t want to quit, I need encouragement!!!!! This workout is definitely a love/hate relationship! Any motivating tips would be fabulous!
Hi Emily,
a good way to stay motivated is to take weekly photos of yourself and hang them where you work out. This way you can see the progress you are making and you will want to do better so you can hang a better picture of yourself. Ask a friend to work out with you. Having someone else along for the journey can be very motivating. They want you to keep pushing yourself, you want them to do well. You can feed off each other.
Keep stopping by this blog. Let us know how you are doing. Ask others who visit this blog how their workouts are going. There might be someone who reads this blog that is on the same day as you.
Don’t give up!!!

I started the program 11 days ago.. It was hard at first but now im finding i can do more reps in my second week. Don’t give up!!! It is a hard core workout. i switch my yoga workout to cardio.. i found the Yoga hard on my back.. but the x stretch still allows you to gain the core strenght that you would get from the yoga workout..
The diet plan is great. It allows alot of variety…
In order to get motivated, i usually come home from work and go right into my workout… put on your favorite song that will get you going and leave the rest behind… try to clear your mind about the busy day.. and focus on YOU!!!! Good luck everyone… I will keep u posted!!!
Sep 13, 2009 @ 17:36:32
Thanks, Annette for the words of wisdom! I may take in consideration your yoga to cardio idea. I have stuck with it and I do love it! Again, I continue to call it a love/hate relationship! haha! I, unfortunately, sprained some ligaments around my sternum/clavicle and can’t do some of the arms/back video anymore…but it’s slowly recovering.
I feel like I am looking different already, however, that may be in my head!
Good luck! Keep going, this forum definitely helps! And especially since I’m not far behind you! Keep me posted!

I am starting the program for the new year (( I played with the workouts for a few weeks prior, and wow! I saw results then and wasn’t even doing the program))
I have carefully looked over the diet and made a few small exchanges, because im trying to be realistic, so I can stick to it. Butter was one of the very few changes I made, and I exchanged it in equal portion with the other fats and oils, I chose to use smart option, because it is made with flax, olive and canola oils, all on the diet list. hope this helps!

I just ordered the P90x. Have heard great things about this home workout program. Watched the infomercial religiously. I would like some encouraging words to get started. How does it all work? Is it easy to follow: workouts and diet? Is there any special equipment needed to get started? Thank you for the support. Have a wonderful day and an inspiring new year
Jan 06, 2010 @ 13:54:26
Hi Shanna,
good choice. I use smart option too. Sometimes you do need to be realistic and think about how you can make this diet work for you.

Hello Dustin,
I would carefully read the fitness and nutrition guides first. Then make a plan for your diet. Which approach will you choose? If you go with the portions approach, you might need to do some more planning for your meals. Once you have your diet figured out and you have the equipment you need, the next step would be to take your measurements and record them. At the end of 90 days, you will take these measurements again and see how well you have done.
Next all you have to do is put in that first DVD. There is a schedule in the fitness guide that will tell you what workout to do on what days. They don’t come in the order they are to be done in the DVD jacket.

Ive been doing p90x for 4 weeks now and im startin to see my abs deveoping but my love handles still look the same as when i started, i know that targeting them is hard to do and that they take forever to get rid of but when should they begin to shed off
Jan 28, 2010 @ 16:49:41
Hello Dakota,
getting rid of bulge around the midsection can be tough. You just have to be sure you are following the diet, and sticking to the workouts. Fat burning cardio is important if you want to get rid of love handles. Doing ab exercises will definitely build up your muscles in that area, but it’s the cardio that will help to get rid of the layer of fat.
Stick with it, you will start to see more results around week 8. Don’t give up!

I’m starting my fourth week on P90X, I am struggling with the Fat Shredder diet because I just don’t seem to have the energy to do the exercises. I struggle with the diet on weekends because I have easy access to food.
Additionally, I play basketball at lunch for an 1 1/2 hours during Monday through Thursday and then do my X workouts in the evening. There are days when I bring it and there are days when I just go through the motions. Although, I am more intense with X workouts if I don’t play basketball because I have more energy. I am not a big fan of supplements but I need to find a way to get motivated without supplements. Any advice?
Feb 03, 2010 @ 14:24:15
Hello Miguel,
I think it’s time for you to move on to phase 2. You might also need to recalculate your nutritional level. Remember that if you follow the calculation in the book exactly, the calories will only provide you with energy for the P90X. If you are doing other activities on a regular basis, you might need to make an adjustment to your daily activity burn.

5’10″ 176 male when i started 3 weeks ago. I felt like all the weight was in my stomach. I have lost 18 pounds in just under 3 weeks, but it does not look like a pound has come out of my stomach. Ther rest of my body HAS changed. I feel like i have no more weight to lose anywhere else. What gives? I keep losing weight, but it is not coming out of my stomach. Is there something else i could be doing? I “bring it” during the workout, my diet is awesome, i have even thrown in extra cardio everyday by running. Is there more i should be doing? I am beginning to get frustrated.
Mar 23, 2010 @ 13:41:31
Hi Louis,
the stomach is a problem area for many. If you’re doing the workouts to the best of your ability and sticking to the diet, the only thing you can do is to just be patient! If you have been losing fat everywhere else, as you continue this workout, the next place to lose fat will be your stomach. I did this program and my stomach was the last place to lose fat too. Three weeks in is just the beginning. Some people don’t start to see results until around week 8.
Stick with it and don’t be discouraged!

My fiance and I decided we are going to buy the P90X workout so we can both be in shape by the time we get married. I have almost never been able to stick closely to a workout, but I want to finish this one. The results I have seen from other people are super encouraging. I want to know what we should expect. He is much more in shape then I am (me- 5’8″ at 175 lbs. him- 6’3″ at 180 lbs) I know we will be sore, but maybe is there something we could do while we wait for it to ship to us to get a kick start into the program?
Hello Suz,
I would try and do a little running and stretching. You might also want to start cutting out any junk food in your diet such as soda, sweets, and other snacks.

I am starting p90x this week and had a question about the pull-up bar. Is it necessary? I had heard different things from different people.
Thanks!
Hello Jackie,
it’s not necessary if you have the resistance bands and the upgrade kit for the bands. This way you can do the same moves, but modified, without the chin-up bar.

Okay so I just started the p90x deit and work out, the work put I am fine with but the diet concerns me. So I jut wanted to put up my daily diet and see if there were and changes that anyone think I can or should make. So first thing I wake up an start with a whey protien shake using two spoonfulls and 8 oz of skim milk. For a snack I usally have a string cheese low fat of course. For lunch I have a can of tuna 160 cal and 4.5 grams of fat and a medium salad with some carrots in it. The next snack is an apple, med. From there I go do my p90x thing about 2 hours afther eating my apple. Dinner I have withing 30 min and consists of a eight oz mixed frozen vegies(corn potato green bean and what not) wig that I have a6 oz peice of chicken and a price of wheat toast and a 8 oz glass of skin milk. I just want to knownif this an okay diet to loose some belly and chest fat, my cal intake is around 1400 59 protein 32 carbs and 9 fat and I am a 6’1 178 pound male. Any advice please email me or just post
Hi Will,

Hey all,
I’ve been doing the workout for only a few days and have done the AbRipper twice. The first time I did the AbRipper, I had little trouble with some of the routines. However, today when I did the AbRipper, I noticed that I was having lower back pain when I was doing some of the routines. (the ones where you have to balance yourself while sitting , i.e. bicycle kicks, frog-something-or-other) Am I doing something wrong?
No Josh,
you just need to strengthen your core! It will get better over time. You are probably using your back a little more than your abs on those exercises. That happens when your abs aren’t that strong yet. This can happen with your neck too, so be careful and try and use your ab muscles to hold those poses!

Hey so I have been on the diet forn about two and half weeks but I just figured out that I was not getting as much protein in my diet For the fat burner as needed. I have not lost the amount of weight hat I was hoping to loose in rhe first month maybe I have lost like 3 pounds. So I have fixes the problem and was wondering how long it I can stay in the fat burning stage of the diet. With out messing with the program cause I would really like to loose another 7 to10 pounds from my current weight of 172, by the way like I said I am around 6’1. I also would like any advice on how to loose any extra chest fat, it seems to me that there are not enough chest workouts and that where I feel I née the most work. Is there any other work outs that I can do in the spare time that will shed some fat from my chest, my stomach is almost flat with notches showing but the chest fat will not seem to fade away. Any help would be awesome cause that’s what I really wanna fix on myself.
Hello Will,
you can stay in the fat shredder phase for the entire program if you wish. You just have to be careful and make sure you have enough energy to get through the workouts. If you are eating the correct amount of protein as described in the nutrition and you feel you need more, just add a whey protein shake or protein bar in as another snack. As far as chest exercises, go for more push-up reps and heavier weights when it’s called for.

I am on my second week of P90X and just finished chest and back for the second time. All last week, up until sunday really, my chest and triceps were extremely sore. So much so it hurt to bring my toothbrush all the way to my mouth and had to bend over to meet it. The soreness was 95 percent gone when I started today but I found I could do less reps than last week, on my first day. Is there anything I can do to alleviate the soreness and stiff muscles after a workout? I do the stretches before and after and am following the diet. Any help would be apprieciated
Hello Charlie,
if you aren’t drinking any recovery drink after a workout, you might just have to stick it out for a week! There is really no way to avoid being sore if you are new to working out or haven’t done any exercise this intense in a while. You can stretch before and after, drink plenty of water and you will still be at least a little sore for the first couple of days. It stinks, but most people are sore beyond movement their first week of P90X!! This program is no walk in the park! It’s just a given. If you aren’t used to working out at a P90X level, you will be hurting!!! This is why the P90X Recovery Formula comes so highly recommended. It really does help alleviate muscle soreness all while re-stocking your muscles with some good proteins.
Try it!

Started P90X Yesterday, and I must say that I have never felt this sore in my life! I’ve been a semiprofessional athlete for over five years, and feel like death. Can’t bend my arms from all of the pushups! I was hoping there would be a support group, because I can definitely see how staying motivated will be tough.
Nov 09, 2010 @ 15:53:59
will the exercises be good for persons 40 or 50 yrs old with hypertension?
Hello Ross,
1. See your doctor
Check with your doctor before beginning an exercise program. If you make any significant changes in your level of physical activity particularly if those changes could make large and sudden demands on your circulatory system check with your doctors again.
2. Take it slow
Start at a low, comfortable level of exertion and progress gradually. The program is designed in two stages to allow for a progressive increase in activity.
3. Know your limit
Determine your safety limit for exertion. Use some clues such as sleep problems or fatigue the day after a workout to check on whether you are overdoing it. Once identified, stay within it. Over-exercising is both dangerous and unnecessary.
4. Exercise at a rate within your capacity

I just started the P90X two days ago. I started the diet then too. I am a little sore which i expected. I used to be in pretty good shape but in the past few years i havent been eating the helthiest. I work in a office so i am constantly drinking pop and sitting at a desk. I cut out all the pop and junk food but since i have i find myself hungry all the time. Any ideas on what i can do to satisfy my hunger to get me through the first few weeks until my body gets used to it?
Hello Jay,
try bringing healthy snacks like string cheese, yogurt, a protein bar (which should fill you up for a while), or some fruits and vegetables. Keep bottled water near by. You might have to take a few more trips to the men’s room, but drinking a lot of water can help curb hunger too. It’s good to eat every few hours to avoid crashing and burning. Crashing as in hunger and burning as in lighting fire to your diet because you just ate 3 cookies and a bag of chips!

I am on Week 2 Day 6. I have rigorously stuck to the workouts and my diet is nearly flawless. I started a strict diet about two maybe three weeks before starting p90x. I weighed myself after the first week of p90x and I weighed 7 piunds heavier! the heaviest ive weighed ever but i feel great. Is this the whole “muscle weighs more than fat thing”? Im also curious when people start seeing results. I’ve heard by the 3rd week or so.
My MAJOR question is, I’m doing the workouts in the PM. I simply do not have time in the morning and I THINK that’s the time i am supposed to do them to jump start my metabolism. But I already wake up at 4:30 in the morning for work. I’m home by 5, eat dinner right away, then do my workouts by 6 latest and im alseep by 9/10pm. On the weekends i do the workouts in the morning though. Is this BAD for me?
Hello Jena W,
it’s not bad to work out night, it’s just a little better to workout in the morning. We all have different schedules and can’t all workout at the ideal time. So get in your workout whenever you can as long as you are doing it.
If you are sticking to the diet and doing your workouts everyday and are gaining weight, you are most likely adding muscle at a greater rate then you are burning fat. Or it could be that you didn’t have much fat to begin with. Try using a body fat tester. This will give you more reassurance when yo see that your body fat percentage is going down. If you feel good and look good, you are on the right track!

The days that we’re mainly working our upper body is it okay to do some cardio on an illiptical or something?
Also, is it bad to do more Ab excercises on the days where there is no AB Ripper?
Hello Jena,
extra cardio wont hurt! Sure. Like in the doubles approach, many people supplement their resistance days with a little cardio workout.
Since Ab Ripper is working on muscles, you should have a day of rest in between. Treat Ab ripper like any other resistance workout. You muscles need time to repair and grow.

I’m borrowing p90x from a friend and don’t have the diet regimine. I’m doing my own thing but I’m wondering if you have any alterations i should do or if what I am doing is fine.
breakfast: Low sugar High Fiber cereal with unsweetened soy milk and a few blueberries OR egg whites and small bowl of oatmeal.
Lunch: Lean Cuisine 230 Cals 280 Sodium 6g Protein and 8oz cup of Green Tea with 1pkt of Splenda
Dinner: 1/2 cup eggies and either 1 peice of lean white meat or tilapia fish
In between these meals i have ONE snack so that I am fueling every 2 hrs. Snack is either: Activia Light Yogurt, Apples, Carrots, Celery, Non fat Cottage Cheese, Orange, or Cucumber
after dinner I do my p90x bc i cant do it before work. after my workout i have 8ox of water and put 2 TEAspoons full of protein powder
On top of p90x i play tennis 3 times weekly for roughly 2 hours FYI and I am a 21 yr old female that weighs about 140
Is this diet plan good for me?
Hello Annalyn,
it looks like you are on the right track. Here is a an example of what you should be eating for a person on your weight on the first phase of the nutrition plan:
5 servings of protein – lean
2 servings of vegetables
1 serving of fruit
2 servings of dairy – low fat
1 serving of carbs – whole grain or complex, no white or simple carbs
1 serving of fat – good fat like olive oil or avocado
2 snacks
1 protein drink
I think you might need a little more protein to you current diet, maybe add a protein bar, but you are on the right track. You want to try and avoid extra sugar at all costs and of course, no junk food or soda. Drink plenty of water!

You do need some kind of equipment for your upper-body workouts. Either a chin-p bar or you can opt to us resistance bands and the special door attachment.
