Using Meal Replacement Shakes for Weight Loss: Is It Right For You?

j04222583Using meal replacement shakes for weight loss is nothing new. In the 80s there was a boom in shake diet popularity as everyone was drinking their calories rather than chewing. Meal replacement diets have changed and so have the way they are being used. No longer are meal replacement dieters having to struggle between “meals” and spending their entire weight loss journey in a state of extreme hunger.

Now, using meal replacement shakes is quite simple and convenient. They make a dependable weight loss option for people with busy schedules or people who simply don’t care to cook.

Meal replacement shakes can be used flexibly. If breakfast is hard for you to eat in the morning, drink a shake instead. Have a snack in the mid morning and follow that with a lunch of fruit and a shake. Don’t be afraid to eat if you are hungry between shakes as starving yourself will certainly backfire. Using meal replacement shakes for weight loss doesn’t have to involve starvation.

Using meal replacement shakes for weight loss is the optimal solution for busy people. A shake on the morning commute provides a start to your day, getting your metabolism up and running. After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day and no one said you have to chew to make it work.

Don’t make the mistake of eating too little when using meal replacement shakes for weight loss. Healthy snacks and additions to your shakes will make the diet sustainable. Adding a piece of fruit or a half of a sandwich will ensure that your lunch lasts you until a mid-afternoon snack is in order.

The P90X meal replacement shakes offer a great way to lose weight whether you are using the P90X system or not. They provide a good source of nutrition in two great tasting varieties. Gone are the days of shake-starvation diets. Now you can successfully lose weight with meal replacement shakes and feel good doing it.

Hi, I am in week 6 of P90X and feel as if i am still carrying a couple of pounds of fat on my belly which is not letting my abs show through, im impatient to lose this although i have lost fat and my abs are starting to show, i feel if i continue to eat as instructed and work out as instructed that at the end of the 12 weeks i will not have the ab results i want, i have considered fasting on 1 aerobic workout day a week to help shift it or cutting the calories but im afraid that i will then not get the muscle growth or even reverse the muscle gains i have made, any suggestions, anyone ?

    Hello Alex,

Abs are tough. Well, getting rid of the belly fat on top of them is the tough part. You are probably starting to build you abs, but you have to get the body fat percentage down. But, we have to try and keep things balanced here. You don’t want to cut calories too much, you might end up cutting out some good things that you need for the workouts. As you progress through the program, you will need a few extra carbs and certainly more protein for energy and muscle build. If you are following the Nutrition Plan, I know you are already eating healthy, but check over some of the foods you are eating. If you are looking to refine your diet even more, perhaps you can choose some foods that are also low in sugar and salt. These things can contribute to fluid retention that can translate into water weight and extra pounds. As in P90X Doubles, you can add some extra cardio to burn more calories. Check out that approach to see if that is something you can do. It’s a little more time and a lot more effort, but it may be what you are looking for.

Otherwise, if your not into making a change to your workouts and diet at this point in the game, stick with what you are doing. We all have different transformations with the P90X. Some may need to work harder at it than others. You may need to work a little after the 90 days to get exactly what you want. Most people who finish the P90X want to do it again, or they move on to the P90X Plus. They don’t want to stop working out and want to keep their new healthy lifestyles in tact.
