The Best Exercises for Quadriceps


731882_maraton_bcn_20071Your quadriceps are the large muscles on the front of your thighs. You use them every day and may feel them after running up a flight of stairs or going for a bike ride. These large muscles can make your legs look great and balance the overall look of your leg. The best exercises for quadriceps are quite simple and many of them require no equipment.

 

The number one best exercise for quadriceps is squats. A fitness staple, squats work several muscles in your lower body, but they hit your quads and your buns the most. Try varying your squats. Do 15 with feet close together, 15 at shoulder width apart, and 15 with a wider stance. Form is very important with squats to prevent injury. Take care that as you lower your body, you don’t allow your knees to hide your toes when you look down; sit back into the squat to help this.

 

Step-ups are another set of great exercises for quadriceps. You can use a barbell with this move if you want the added resistance. Pick a tool to step up on. A chair may work well for some while a step is a good beginner height. Step up with one foot and raise your body. Step back down and repeat with the other leg. A total of 30 steps is 15 good reps on each side.

 

Lastly, lunges are a good way to tone both your quads and your butt. There are many different varieties of lunges, so try several and do what works best for you. Whether you step forward into a lunge, or use the other leg to lunge back, you will immediately see that the resistance level is different. Do whichever lunge offers you good resistance without risking injury.

 

The best exercises for quadriceps often do double work, toning other muscle groups as well. By consistently working your quads every week you will soon see muscle tone and develop some sexy stems.
