The Basics of Home Workout Equipment

resistance-bands-complete-i5Undertaking a home workout system has many benefits. See yesterdays post for some of my own personal reasons for working out at home. From the money saving aspect to not having to worry about how you look, working out at home is a great way to get fit without all the hassle of a gym. Home workout equipment doesn’t have to be expensive or extravagant to get the job done.

The very best in home workout equipment should be affordable, effective, and durable as well. Having equipment that fits these criteria will help you reach your fitness goals in no time and allow you to continue your quest for fitness long after you have achieved the look you want.

Your home workout equipment should consist of a few very necessary staples. A complete set of high quality resistance bands are crucial unless you want to invest in a set of hand weights. Resistance bands allow you to get a full range of strength training moves without the bulk and expense of weights.

A pull up bar is another excellent piece of home workout equipment that will allow you to tone your arms, shoulders, chest, and back in any doorway within your home. Pull up workouts are an excellent way to get fit and our pull up bar is a great way to get that workout easily.

A yoga or manduka mat is a key piece of home workout equipment, especially when doing yoga or plyometrics. These mats ensure you won’t slip and provide extra cushioning for but jumps and powerful moves.

In addition to the above preferred home workout equipment, consider push up stands and a heart rate monitor to ensure you are prepared for any superior quality home workout system. This equipment doesn’t take a whole room. Think about reserving a closet in your home for this equipment. It is all easily stored and compact. No lugging heavy equipment or worrying about your home resembling a gym. A few key pieces of home workout equipment will make your abode a welcome workout spot.

I actually enjoy working out at the gym. I am trying to find more information on the P90X workouts. Do you workout with the DVD? Is there a written workout program? Can the workouts be done at the gym? I can see the benefit in the flexibility of being able to workout at home, but does this benefit “gym rats” too?

    Hi Ernest,

This program is great for “gym rats” as well. If you love being in the gym, chances are you’ll want to put your own spin on some of these exercises after you go through the DVDs once. The workouts are intended to be done with the DVDs, that way Tony can show you the exact techniques that you need to get those desired results. After you know the techniques, it would be rather easy to incorporate those into your gym workouts.

There is a fitness guide that comes with the P90X kit that has a complete list of all the exercises done in the DVDs. So you can take your workouts with you on the road or to the gym with the fitness guide.

Hope this information helps you. Keep us updated.
