Hello Yajaira,

if you are following the portions approach, you can eat a lot of the same foods you eat now, they just might be healthier versions. It's less about portion sizes and more about eating the right kinds of foods that will help you to lose weight while giving you energy for your workouts. I would look over the portions approach. This way is much better for a picky eater!

Hi David,

if you are buying separated egg whites in a carton, there should be a chart on the back to tell you how much liquid is equal to 6 egg whites. 1/2 of a cup is about 4-5 egg whites, but check the label to be sure.

I am just now starting and I'm trying to build a menu before I begin. How much is 6 egg whites? Is it equivalent to 1/2 cup?

Thanks,
D.T.

Hi Nancy,

I'm not sure how long ago this post was, but if you're looking to have chocolate milk- get muscle milk, its a little sweeter and tangy... but still very good, and can be used as a recovery drink, its a little expensive to buy by the jugs of powder- but they sell it at almost every gas station in little nesquik sized bottles. I LOVE it and drink after almost every work out- hope that helps!

Hi Nancy,

The reason the guide suggests egg whites as opposed to whole eggs is due to the increased values for fat, saturated fat and cholesterol in egg yolks. However there is still some debate on the topic of egg whites vs egg yolks and in the end you have to make your own decision.

Will you be consuming additional fat? Yes, but some say that the extra vitamins out weighs this. This is of course not the case for the P90X Nutrition Guide which has a goal of helping the user lose weight so it's egg whites on the menu if you want to follow it to a "T" :)

Unfortunately chocolate milk does not contain the same ingredients as the P90X Recovery Formula and will subsequently not deliver the same benefits. However, again, if you feel that the Recovery Formula is simply not for you, that is up to you.

I can't stand egg whites alone. Can i substitute 2 whole eggs for 6 egg whites and get the same protein and nutritional value for Phase 1. Also is it OK to substitute my recovery drink supplement with a glass of chocolate milk.
I have just started the program, (My 15 yr old son has it). I need to loose 40-50 lbs and I am obviously doing modified versions of the program, I am feeling stronger everyday.

Hi there. I need some help! I am 30 years old, 5′1″, size 4-6, and 126 lbs. I want to be a size 2-4 and 115 lbs. I am in week 2, day 3 of P90x. I am using the portion approach, but also using the meal plan approach for recipe ideas. Here’s my question: Do I have to follow the nutrition guide EXACTLY to get the results that I want? I know a lot of research and time has been spent putting that together. So, if the food item is NOT on the list, I may not have it?? For example, can I have tea? Can I have Crystal Light? Can I have another fruit during the day at snack time even if I have had my full fruit serving at breakfast? That seems reasonable, but also know that you all put 1 fruit on there for a reason. I am really trying hard not to justify my wants no matter how reasonalbe they seem. I know the only person I am cheating is myself, but is there room for common sense in the plan? For example, too, in my mushroom omelet, I put spinach leaves in although it did not call for it. That’s OK, right? I am eating WAY less than I am used to and I am feeling hungry at times during the day. I am not giving into it…yet! One more thing…Is there another place for P90x level 1, phase 1 recipes? So looking forward to hearing from you soon. Take it easy and thanks.
