Hi Jake,
What’s great about the P90X is that you can use it to gain or loose. If you are trying to gain muscle mass, use heavier weights and do fewer slow and controlled reps. Also, you can make adjustment to the Nutrition Plan if you don’t want to loose weight or if you don’t have much fat to burn.
As far as the equipment goes, you would need either resistance bands or dumbbells, and the chin-up bar (you can also use the resistance bands with an upgrade kit to do the chin-up exercises if you can’t us the bar in your home). If you are working on a hard floor, it would be a good idea to get a yoga or plyometrics mat.

Hi there,
I started p90x last week and this past sunday I finished my first full week. I love the workout, but I am exhausted. I sleep, on average, about 7 – 8 hours/night. Is this normal? I am not sure if I need more sleep or if my body is just getting used to this intense workout.

Hi Melissa,
7-8 hours is pretty standard. Are you feeling like that isn’t enough? If you are feeling drained, even with 8 hours of sleep, you may need to eat a little more. Your energy levels may be low. Check your nutritional level in the guide (page 5, nutrition plan). You might need to up your calories a little. This is an intense workout and you do need to eat the right foods for more energy while using the P90X.

Hello Andrea,
Yes. Do both workouts. Shoulders and Arms first, and then do Ab Ripper X. Do both of the workout in full. This will take about 75 minutes.

I am considering purchasing this product, but I live in an apt and I’m concerned about how much jumping is involved. My neighbors below are really noise sensative. I would do the workouts early in the morning before work and I don’t want them to be annoyed. Thanks.

What is your recommendation regarding timing of KenpoX or Plyometrics routines after eating breakfast? Wait 1,2, 3 hours or perform on an empty stomach before breakfast?
The plan seems to indicate that you need fuel to perform these routines and eating within 1 hour of arising is crucial; other advice has suggested to get the most out of aerobic exercise it should be performed in the morning before eating breakfast.

Hello Mike,
That is a great question! The morning is the best time to burn extra fat off of the body. So a good idea would be to just eat a protein bar before the work out. That should give you enough energy to get you through the work out.
