Is the protein bars just a 30 day supply? (provided you eat one a day)
Hello Andrew,
There are only 12 bars box so if you’re looking for a months worth, you may need to get a couple more boxes.

I have a questions, I’ve read all my matterals and I didn’t see anything about diet sodas or crystal light drink mixes. It’s day one for my so I’m a little confused.
Thanks,
Linda
Hello Linda,
The quick and short way to say this is Crystal Light drink mixes OK, diet sodas not OK. And also, you should only be drinking the Crystal Light mixes in moderation. Enjoy your workouts.

Little confused on protein bar. At Level 1 and it suggests 1 protein bar and a recovery drink for snack in the meal plan. First question is do you eat the whole protein bar or only a 1/2…as in the portions section it says 1/2 bar is a snack. Second question…don’t have recovery drink yet so can I use an item from the snack portion to replace it?
Hello Denise,
If you are following the meal plan, eat the whole bar. That whole bar was calculated into the daily values for the meal plan. For the portions approach, for a single snack, it’s half the bar. Try following one of the approaches. Looking at two can get confusing.
I apologize, but I am not sure what your second question is. You should have a recovery drink after your workouts no matter what. If you want to have one for a snack, it is listed in both approaches. I am not sure if that answered your second question, but hopefully it helped!

I have a question. I have been eating a protein bar as my morning snack almost daily….I generally don’t have an afternoon snack as I don’t find I’m hungry….I’m a level 1 in phase 1, the guide says I can have a protein bar and recovery drink in addition to my 1 snack and 5 proteins, 1 fruit, 2 veggies, 2 dairy, 1 carb, 1 condiment, and 1 fat, so the protein bar doesn’t count towards my 5 other protein allotments does it? Thank you!
Hello Shelley,
No, the protein bars are counted as snacks in the portions approach. You should still get your 5 servings of protein from other foods in as well.

I just ordered your fitness program today and had a question about protein bars and shakes. Are your products offered anywhere besides your web site? I’m sure that question will be answered when I receive my order, but I was wondering if I would be able to find what I need locally.
Hello Brian,
As far as I know, Beachbody products are generally not sold in stores. You can probably find other products in stores that are similar, but not the Beachbody brand.

I just started the program and am following the portion plan. It calls for 1 snack, 1 bar and 1 recovery drink per day. I have been alternating almonds, soy nuts and string cheese for my snack. Should I eat 1/2 the bar or the entire thing? What about the recovery drink? Thank you!
Hello Brandy,
you are supposed to have one snack as well as a bar. So you should have a whole bar for one snack and if you decide to have a bar for your second snack as well, that’s when you should eat half of one. You should have a recovery drink within an hour after you finish your workout, no matter what meal or snack it falls closest to.

I’m on my second month of the program and I can’t help but notice that the meal plan doesn’t always match up with the portions it says we should be eating. I don’t have my book on hand, but I remember that one dinner calls for 3 oz of parmesan cheese which according to the portion approach qualifies as 3 dairy and the 2nd phase of the plan only calls for 2 dairy. Is it a misprint, or is the meal plan that different from the portion approach?
Hello Mary,
the meal plan should be kept separate from the portions approach. I think because you are left to your own devices with the portions plan, the creators of this plan were extra careful with the portions and servings. Also, you aren’t expected to eat the whole entire recipe for all meals. Most of them make multiple servings, which is great for a single person to store in the freezer for the next week!

I am just beginning the program. What is Turkey Jerky? Also, if I am working out in the evening, should I be eating dinner after my workout?
Hello Salim,
Turkey jerky is basically dried turkey. I’m sure they add stuff to it, but it’s kinda like dried fruit, but just meat! I wouldn’t eat dinner after 7. So if eating after your workout will be too late, try and eat an hour or more BEFORE you workout. You need time to digest.

Hi, I was wondering if the EAS myoplex Lite french vanilla drinks (11 fl oz) each would be the correct “recovery drink” i could take? Please advise. I just started p90x yesterday. Thanks, Gene
Jan 06, 2010 @ 15:57:58
Hello Eugene,
I would compare labels. It’s not a law that you have to use the P90X recovery drink, but you do need something for muscle recovery and relief of soreness.
You can find the label to the recovery formula here:

I just started p90x and i am doing the portion approach. I understand the main part but when I comes to the snacks I am confused. So I get 1 bar, 1 shake, and 1 single other snack. For the other snack lets say I have a string cheese. Can i count the cheese also in the dairy section or are all the snacks separate and addition to the other portions? Sorry but I can’t find it in the box.
Jan 28, 2010 @ 14:41:16
Hello Jessica,
you do not have to count your snacks in any other category besides the snack category. You keep the separate.

first I must say I am very excited about getting started. my question is would using a 7 day internal clean good to do before starting the P90X program or just go right into the program? I am feeling very good and looking forward to getting started. without the internal cleanse I plan to start Feb.1. With the internal cleanse, I will start the cleanse on Feb. 1 and then start the P90X workout on the 8th of Feb. I will appreciate the answers with one of those good explanations why or why not.
thanks in advance.
Jan 29, 2010 @ 14:50:19
Hello Jerry W.
if you are up to it, an internal cleanse sounds good! There is nothing wrong with getting rid of all the junk stored in your body before starting a workout plan and diet. Other Beachbody workouts suggest you do a two day fast before starting the workout and diet to kick start your weight loss. Doing a 7 day cleanse would along the same lines as that idea, just a little more extreme. I think it’s a great idea to start with a clean slate! Then starting a clean diet and exercise. You might actually want to do your cleanse, the the following week start your P90X diet. Then the following week start the workouts. Just so it’s not such a shock in the beginning.

I work night shift and am not sure how to follow the program in order to meet it’s demands of eating……do you have any suggestions.
Mar 01, 2010 @ 12:55:40
Hi Bonnie,
try and eat every two or three hours. That just means have a meal, then a snack three hours later, then another meal three hours later, and so on. I would try the portions approach. This way you can choose the foods you eat and you can easily pack them up to take with you to work. Protein bars and shakes are great for people who don’t have a lot of time to cook. Try and wait at least three hours after your last meal before you go to bed, and wait at least one hour after eating before you start your workout.

Hi,
I’ve been making Myoplex (from powder) shakes with plain almond milk, a scoop of greens, 1/2 of a banana, and a handful of sliced almonds, blended
Im wondering… can I keep this as a morning or even a lunch meal? They really fill me up and have 27G of protein and 2G of sugar. They are easy when Im in a hurry, or just dont want to cook. Im just starting P90x- going to do Phase 1 and I eat alot of these food anyways, just have never eaten it the way its shown in the nutrition guide. Im a bit overwhelmed. Please let me know… thanks in advance

Hi Kim,
your shake seems like it would fit right in to the P90X Nutrition plan, so you can probably continue to have this shake for a meal or a snack.

How many servings are in one container of the recovery drink? How many is needed for a 3 month supply if taking one drink a day after workout?
Mar 18, 2010 @ 14:33:54
Hello Justin,
there is about 30 servings, so if you have a drink every day, you will need 3 tubs.

i’m confused do you have to eat veagtables because i hate veggies… i’m real picky i only like meat and chicken….. is that a problem if so how can you overcome that and just eat the veggies
Hi Aaron,
you need your veggies! Even if you don’t work out! Try V8 splash. It doesn’t taste like vegetables, but there is a full serving per glass. There’s fruit in it too. Spaghetti sauce is an option too. Or you can grind up some cooked carrots or tomatoes and mix it in to some ground beef.

Hi, I just started. I am following the diet plan. Question: Could I have grits for breakfast? I am always on the run in the morning, and the grits fill me up by snack time.
Hello Birgith,
you might want to try a whole grain oatmeal instead. Grits can be high in carbohydrates and this diet is carb sensitive!

I am currently on Phase I Level 1. I am confused about the number of snacks to have. There is a snack box, a shake box, and a bar box. Does that mean I have one snack, one shake, and one bar? Or three snacks, one shake, and one bar?
Hey Nicole,
you should have a snack, a shake, and a bar.

Hi,
I am on Phase 1 (level 1) and am doing the portion approach. I had a question regarding the recommended portion sizes. For example, I am supposed to eat 2 50-calorie servings of veggies per day. Can I split these servings? Like if I have a salad and the veggie content only comes out to 25 calories, can I have another 25-calorie serving of veggies for another meal and it still count towards 1 serving (provided I stay within the calorie limit of 50)? Or would this be considered my 2 servings of veggies?

I’ve been trying to find a good protein bar that is low in sugar. I can’t find the nutrion label or ingredients of the P90x bars on the website. Is there anyway to try just one of the P90x protein bars without buying the whole box? and can you return the protein bars if you don’t like it?
Jan 13, 2011 @ 14:09:19
I was reading the other comments and noticed you mentioned that the recipes often make more than one serving. I can’t find where it states how many portions a specific recipe makes. Obviously the soups are measured so that is easy, but what about the salads and main meals like stir-frys etc? I thought all the recipes were a single serving.

I am completely addicted to soda and don’t think I can quit. How much of an impact will this have on my results? (I am average height/weight, and only want to get bigger, more defined muscles and be healthier).

If you eat something like cottage cheese that is a snack but also dairy would you mark off both boxes?

Can I purchase these bars anywhere else except on line?
No, not this particular brand of protein bar. Sorry Zindi.

Hi,
I’m in the 4th week of the program and have been really committed to the exercise program- but not really following the diet. I have to say I’m not seeing any results yet, esp. in my middle. I eat well regularly so thought just the exercise would have made some kind of impact by now. Any thoughts or reasons why not?
Mar 24, 2011 @ 14:22:56
Hello Angela,
it could be your diet. The nutrition plan was designed to work with the workouts to give you the best possible results. Also, it’s still early. It’s normal to not see any results until week 8.

I’m doing lean route on p90x.
I heard it is more focused on losing weight. Do I still need to eat a protein bar or drink a pretein powder after I’m worked out?
Hello Tim,
protein will help you to build muscle, even lean muscle, which helps your body to burn fat better. I would keep the protein bars and powder in your diet if you can. The bars and powders also help to fill you up with good stuff so you aren’t so hungry in between meals.

Is coffee a NO NO I enjoy one in the AM part of my day but i am willing to give it up
Hi Stan,
it’s the cream and sugar that are the problem. Black coffee is ok in moderation, I would say 1 or 2 cups per day. If you have to have creamer, use a plain creamer instead of any flavors with sugar. I would be more concerned with sugar and carbs rather than the fat content. Fat is easy to burn off. Sugar is carbs and carbs are harder to burn off.

I am doing the Lean program and on week 1….level 1 for diet.
It says you can have one snack, one bar and one shake.
Can I just do three snacks instead?
Hello CJ,
if you are omitting the bar and the shake, it would be ok to have 3 snacks instead.

Do I count the protein bar as a carb? 26 grams of carbs plus a serving of carb (on phase 1 fat shredder) seems like a lot of carbs to me. I am on week 3 and have been counting it simply as my “bar” and then having one carb serving in addtion. Just not wanted to eat too many carbs and am trying to follow the diet very closey so I can loose weight.
Hello Heidi,
the bar should not be counted as a serving of carbs.

Hi. I’m starting P90X, and using the Portion system. While I look forward to using the recovery drink (protein powder + water or milk, if I apportion Dairy servings to it), I cannot wrap my mind around eating processed Protein Bars, regardless of how healthy they may be. I’d much rather eat the equivalent in egg whites (protein) and oats (carbs) and vitamins, or whatever to equal those nutrient-packed 240 calories – I’m just not feeling a protein bar. I work at home, I can manage the food prep – what combos would you suggest? Or – which Portion equivalents does one Bar equal? I’m tentatively thinking of it as 3 egg whites (6g protein x 3 = 18 grams/50 calories) + one half-cup serving of oatmeal (27 g of carbohydrates/150 calories), + 1/2 cup frozen blueberries (7g carbs/40 calories). The difference in vitamins I’d make up in my daily vitamin popping.
Any thoughts/suggestions? I’d like to do this right, but the protein bar just isn’t going to work for me at all.
