I have more of a question then a comment. I am a woman in my late 40's and have had two children now grown but my body has taken a beating. My question is my stomach has what I call a smile I feel that it will never ever be flat and the only way to get rid of the extra skin would be surgery. Can P90X help me and I really want the truth. Thank you.

Hi

I am brand new to P90x and have recently gotten a lend of the plyometrics dvd from a friend. I am currently in good shape and at a good fitness level. I want to use the plyometrics training to help me get that extra push to allow me to drop into optimum body fat range (12% and below). I was wondering how many times a week would it be recommended to perform this workout?

Hi! Ive been doing P90X for the past 5 weeks and right now I am doing doubles in week 5....Ive been keeping up with the daily workouts and my eating habits have changed drastically! No more fast food! I havent lost much weight but I've gained alot of muscle. I can see the six pack when i flex but there's still a layer of fat that wont allow my abs to come out! Should I do more cardio? Also, I work on the 7th floor of my building and when I first started P90X, I could barely make it to the 7th floor! My endurance hasnt improved though. I'm a little concerned about that. I m still way out of breath when i finish. Is there something I shoudl be doing? Please help!

Hello Sean,

Most of the fat burn does come during the first phase of the Nutrition Plan. Just because of the way the diet is balanced and because your body is experiencing something totally new with the P90X workouts. If you are pushing yourself and increasing your push-ups, chin-ups, etc. along the way, you will find that you need more energy. At that point, you should move on to the next phase of the nutrition plan. Your muscle gain should start to increase quite a bit in the next phase of the workouts as well. This could effect your weight. As you probably know, muscle weighs more than fat. You may have lost 21 lbs in the first phase only, but what about your body fat percentage? You are probably still loosing fat while gaining muscle which is very hard to determine with a scale. You really need a body fat tester.

I am 6' and was 198 lbs. I am on my recovery week from the second stage of P90X. I currently weigh in at 196. I have toned and lost inches but am still carrying a pretty good gut on me. My goal was to get to 180-185 range by completion of the program. The calculations in the nutrition guide put me at an energy level of 2940. That fit to level II almost level III. I ate at level II 2400 cals daily using receipes from the guide calculated to the percentages in accordance with the fat shredder phase for the first 30 days. I remained in the fat shredder phase for the next 30 days and reduced my cals to 2200 cal (275 pro, 165 carb, 48 fat.) Should I stay in the fat shredder for for the final 30 days, reduce cals again, bump up the carbs for the energy phase????? I hold a BS in Exercise and Nutrition and I am stumped by this. My 2lb weight loss came during the first 30 days and I've held since. My wife is also on the program and also holding her weight.

Hi Adam,

If you start the P90X, you can at least start to break that plateau down and kick start your fitness. The P90X is all about muscle confusion and keeps your body guessing and wanting more. Take the P90X with you or at least the fitness guide. You can do the workouts without the DVD's if you are familiar with them and you have the guide. You might be surprised that quite a few people from the Military are using this program.
