You’ve just finished P90X and you’ve never been so fit! You made the P90X a goal and now you’ve reached it. You completed an intense 90 day workout. You’re feeling great and you’re looking great. You don’t want any of this to end. But now you’re starting to wonder, what do I do next? Where can I go from here?
First of all, if you want to keep the level you have reached at the end of the P90X training, you will need to continue to make exercise and eating healthy a part of your daily life. If you don’t, you will start to lose the level of fitness you worked so hard to gain. That’s the thing about fitness—once you have reached a certain level you’re not just going to stay there forever. To stay where you are you have to keep up the same level of intensity. You have to keep burning off those calories and working those muscles.
If you liked some of the P90X routines better than others or if you just know that your body will continue to have some of the same problem areas, you can modify any of the workouts and continue to use them. If you’re creative, you may even be able to take some of the workouts and add some new moves and exercises of your own. If you continue to eat right as well, this should keep you pretty much at the pinnacle you’ve reached.
But now you can also do one better. The same fitness experts who created the P90X have done it again! We’re offering a brand new set of workouts based on the same theory of muscle confusion—P90X Plus the next level! You get five all new video workouts in P90X Plus (P90X+): Interval X Plus, Kenpo Cardio Plus, Upper Plus, Abs/Core Plus, and Total Body Plus. All of them work together to enhance the work you have already done. If you achieved great results with P90X, then you are ready to go on to an altogether different plane with the P90X Plus workout.
The music really rocks. All the brand new moves and never-before-seen workouts are set to hot music specially created by Jason Scheff, lead singer of the band, Chicago. Jason really knows what he’s doing and how you feel because he wrote this new music while he was completing his first round of P90X. He knows exactly what you have already gone through and he created a sound track that will really take you to the next level.
At first, you wondered what to expect from P90X—were you going to be able to get through it? Would it have the intensity you imagined? Now you know. The P90X didn’t let you down so if they say the P90X Plus is even more intense, it’s must be. Check it out!
But whatever you choose to do next, seriously—find something that will continue to keep you healthy and active, and keep doing it and building on it for the rest of your life.

Hello RMb,
yes. If you main concern is weight loss, do the lean approach. The P90X program comes with a fitness guide with three different ways to do these workouts. If all you want to do it to tone up and loose weight, the lean approach is the one for you.

Hello Todd,
now that you have completed the 90 days, you can certainly come up with your own schedule. There is a page for maintenance in the fitness guide if you want to check that out for comparison. You actually have a pretty good idea of what you need to do.

Hi, so I’m almost 31 and am progressively feeling worse and worse about how my body is changing. I have never really been a fan of working out. I’ve never been really overweight. I’ve had a steady weight for the last 15 years probably. Here and there I’ve been more cut, but lately I’ve really seen a difference in my body. I had a baby almost two years ago and have obviously seen a difference in how my body feels and looks. Is this something I can just start cold turkey without having worked out in a while?
Feb 08, 2010 @ 15:45:29
Hello Erin,
I would take the fitness test first. Some people can just jump right in, but I would be sure before you spend the money on this program.

Hello Marie,
1) there is a calculation in the book that will dererming your nutritional level. You are supposed to follow the plan for your level only.
2) The P90X Plus has different workouts that will give you a greater challenge. They similar to the P90X workouts, but harder and with less instruction.
-Mike
Hello Lee,
P90X will definitely help you lose weight if you can manage to stick to the diet and workout schedule for 90 days. When those 90 days are over, you will have a better approach to eating and you will know what to do to keep your body in shape. P90X gives you a new way of thinking when it comes to health and fitness. Maintaining your results doesn’t take a full hour for 6 days a week, but you will need to exercise for about 20-30 minutes per day alternating resistance with cardio. The fitness guide will explain in detail what you need to do for maintenance.

HI,
I finished P90x two weeks ago, and I have two questions?
1. if I did a second round of p90x , where do I start? Do I start literally from beginning (week 1) or do I start from week 5 , or do I just do phase III over and over again, since it is a mix of phase I and Phase II?
2. If I wanted to make sure to maintan what I have , but if in additon anything improves I will not complain, Can I just do the last phase of P90X over and over again for the rest of my life?
The reason I am asking is because week 1 is like Phase I and Week 2 like Phase II, and so on. it is a cofusion I guess in it self, and i don’t need to try to come up with anything new.
3. This is kind of continuation to previos question and it is for maintenance,- for the excercise where you do a seocnd repetition, can I just doe 1 repetition, and for the exercises of 1 repetition but 24 excerciese, can I split it in half and do it in two different days?
Thank you very much for your help.
Ban
Feb 10, 2010 @ 13:39:58
Hello Ban,
1. Start from phase 1 if you want to do a full round, or start where ever you like if you want a more custom workout.
2. For maintenance, the guide recommends that you do Yoga X at least once a week, a cardio workout (core, kenop, or plyo) once or twice a week. To maintain muscle mass, do the first round of the resistance programs. You know you usually do every exercise twice? One round would be doing each exercise once.
Doing phase 3 over and over also makes sense to me. You might have to switch it up and add some P90X Plus workouts to the mix to avoid hitting a plateau after a while of doing this.
OR you can come up with your own schedule! By the end of 90 days, you will have a better understanding of what you need to do to stay in shape or to improve further.
3. Yes…….I kinda answered this for #2!

Feb 17, 2010 @ 16:44:13
Hi Jacob,
you can use P90X to add muscle mass, yes. You just have to choose heavier weights and do 8-10 reps at the most. The last two reps should be really hard, so if you can do 11, you need something heavier. Keep in mind, you aren’t going to get body builder big, but in 90 days if you really push it, you can get some great size and definition.
Classic, Doubles, and Lean:
These are different approaches to doing the P90X all included in the same package. Classic is the normal schedule of resistance and cardio. This approach is for those who would like to improve their overall fitness, build muscle, lose fat, and improve atletic abilities. Doubles is that same classic schedule with one cardio workout added to each resistance day to give you two workouts for those days. So you will do cardio twice as much as classic for that extra calorie burn. Lean is one workout per day as classic, but some of the resistance workouts are replaced with a cardio workout. Lean is for people who aren’t really interested in building muscle. This approach is cardio based and for those who’s main concern is weight loss.
You would need the fitness guide or calendar to know what workout to do on what day, whatever approach you choose.

Hi, I am 14 years old I was working hard on the gym but it doesn’t work out for me I’m going way too slow. So I was thinking about buying p90x because i don’t how my body looks, but I am worried about if p90x have some sort of side affects??

I am a P90X grad at the age of 15. I loved the original but I’ve heard mixed reviews about P90X plus and I don’t know who to believe but I agree with the people who ave taken the plus dvds and used them in place of some of the original P90X dvds can I do the same thing????
Feb 22, 2010 @ 16:29:18
Hi Richard,
you won’t get any side effects from exercising and eating right. You are still young, but there are no age limitations for this program. Of course you have to be old enough to know what you are doing, but you will be fine!

Mar 01, 2010 @ 12:51:38
Hi Derek,
taking the P90X plus workout and replacing some of the P90X workouts is the best way to go in my opinion. You keep the P90X schedule and way of doing things, but you are adding intensity and difficulty to take your results to another level.

Hey im thinking of buying p90x but first i was just wondering, im 16 and 140, 6’1, im very skinny should i drink whey protein drink insted of using the diet couse i dont want to loose weight i want to gain wheight in muscle or is this just for bigger people to get skinny.
Mar 03, 2010 @ 11:40:49
HI Jake.
Gaining weight can be just as tricky as losing weight. The nutrition plan really helps you lose weight, so you could omit that part, but I would still try and eat healthy foods. Whey protein can help to build muscle mass.

Hello-
I was wondering if you could tell me what weights I will need for this video so I can prepare my home. I have 8 and 10 pound dumbbells. I am looking to get lean muscle so less weight and more reps. Do you think I need lighter ones as well? Thank!
Trina
Mar 10, 2010 @ 14:23:06
Hello Trina,
you might want to pick up some 5 pound weights definitely, and maybe some a little heavier. For some of the leg exercises, you can use heavier weights. Maybe a 15 pound should be your heaviest.

Seriously thinking of purchasing P90X. I currently work out 3-4 days a week at Curves. i am 52 years old and have some arthritis in my knees. Would like to build muscle and lose fat. Am not really satisfied with my current workout. It has become really easy for me. Am i too old to try P90X?
Mar 16, 2010 @ 13:38:00
No, Cindy. You are not too old, but your arthritis might give you a problem. Depending on how severe it is of course, this workout can be tough on your knees. Plyometrics, for example, is high impact. Building muscle and burning fat is what this program is all about, but can be difficult with a knee issue.

I am a P90X grad – it works!!! I have two children and spent my entire summer getting up at 4:30 am to workout (I am a teacher so I have about two months free)- I hated doing it by myself, but after I felt great. I am looking better than I did before my first child! Anyway I am having a hard time fitting in the workouts due to time – I have to be at work at 6:45 so its tough getting in a morning workout and having to pack up the kids & myself for school. I tired to do some in the evenings but once again it is time interval that kills me. SO is P90X plus the right thing for me? I am looking for a maintance workout that will get the job done in the least amount of time. Any ideas on this would be great! Thanks
Mar 18, 2010 @ 14:36:40
Hi Gabrielle,
if it’s maintenacne you are looking for, stick with P90X. Check out page 34 of the fitness guide to see what you need to do to keep your results. The maintenance will take up less time per day, so you should definitely take a look.

I am a 60 year old working musician ( rock n roll drummer) whose lifestyle (in the past) caught up to me when I suffered a heart attack at age 52. In time, I got healthy again with meds , diet and exercise but slacked off again in recent times.
My wife is 51 years of age has run in several marathons and was formerly an aerobics instructor. But she too slacked off a bit recently and got out of shape. Muffin tops – both of us.
Now for the good news. We decided to do the P90X together and have just completed our 90 days. I have to say the first week or so was tough for me, the warm-up killed me, but I persisted.
Now I can say we both absolutely love it! We are very happy with the results and will continue with the program no question. As for myself, I’ll probably start lifting slightly heavier weights (with fewer reps) to stack up a little more muscle. I’m lean at 154 lbs 5′ 9″ and the belly is gone, gone, gone…. And of course, my wife (Mighty Mouse) looks awesome. Thanks Tony and P90X.

My wife and I are about to move into Phase 3, but would like to start the program over again upon finishing. How long should we wait between the two?
Mar 29, 2010 @ 10:13:44
Hi Jason,
If you’d like to do more than one cycle of P90X go for it! You can really start as soon or as later as you prefer. Typically it’s a good idea to get back into it (start 2nd round) after about 2 weeks of rest. This way you get some decent recovery time in, but you don’t get so far removed from it that it becomes difficult to continue.
Apr 02, 2010 @ 13:25:41
I just finished P90X and loved it!…. I plan to keep going by getting P90X PLUS.
What Phase in the diet should I continue as I go into P90X PLUS?
Also, I plan to move to P90X Plus, and then INSANITY because I want to progress and not stay complacent. Is this a good plan?
Apr 10, 2010 @ 22:13:58
Hi im just about 15 and i was thinking of starting P90X i just didnt know if its a good idea because im not very fit at all i play alot of sports but i still cant manage to lose any weight, to give you an idea im 6’5 and around 280 pounds, and i have now idea what im going to do after ive finished after im done it and thats one of the questions that was holding me back from buying it, thanks.
Apr 12, 2010 @ 15:00:42
Hi Mike,
I would stay in phase 3. P90X plus is pretty intense!
Moving on to Insanity would be a nice change. Keep in mind that Insanity is more cardio and if you have build up bulk, if that’s your goal, you might lean out a bit. If you just want to stay fit and lean, this would be a good plan of action. Insanity is tough and you will need to be ready for it!

Hi im going to be 16 here in about month and just started the program. The one issue im having is the diet plan. i weigh 156 pounds and stand 6″ tall. im pretty slim and athletic. my issue is I can eat untill i pass out and not gain a single pound or make it show. should i follow the diet plan or no? Aso, do you think that if i follow the p90x workout plan i would get quicker or increased results compared to someone 10 years older then me? thanks alot.
Hi Forrest,
I think you should follow the diet plan because it will help you to make better choices and give you a new way of eating for life. Not just during the program. It sounds like you have a really fast metabolism, so you might find that you need to make adjustments as you go along. You might have to eat a little more, but you can still follow the guidelines of the nutrition plan. You are most definitely at an advantage over someone who is 10 years older. I only wish I had the metabolism I did 10 years ago!

Hi, I have 2 questions.
question 1: I am planning on purchasing the dvds within the next month. I am a broad 5’10 at about 240, I gained 50 pounds during my pregnancy…My son is now 1 and i haven’t lost any weight. I used to dance and did aerobics regularly…what kind of results could I expect after the 90 days.
question 2: Do I NEED to have a pull up bar or is resistance bands ok to use, I read somewhere online they were. I also have free weights already. 6 pounds and 10 pounds.
Thanx
Hello Christina,
if you follow the diet plan and stick to the workouts, you can expect to lose a good amount of weight. I like to say this a lot, but your results are only as great as the effort you put into your workouts.
You don’t need the chin-up bar if you have the resistance bands and the door attachment for the bands. Here is the link for the door attachment:

Hi, I ordered P90X about a year ago. I am a student and athlete, so I have not been able to actually do the 90-day program. However, I have done the P90X videos whenever I can, which is around 3-4 times a week depending on my homework and games. I have seen great results from when I first bought it, and am very pleased with the program itself. This summer, since I am not playing any sports, I plan on trying the 90-day program. What I wanted to ask is which options should I choose if I want to put on more muscle mass? I know that I should be doing 8-10 reps per exercise, but should I choose free weights or resistance bands? And should I do P90X Classic or P90X Doubles? Lastly, should I be drinking the P90X Peak Recovery Drink after weight-lifting workouts or should I choose the Beachbody’s Whey Protein Powder instead? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hey Ryan,
I would do the classic approach and use dumbbells. Resistance bands are equally good, but I would choose dumbbells over bands if you want real bulk. Whey protein powder is similar, only you might not get the same muscle relief as the recovery drink will give you. Eventually you will get to the point where you wont be too sore, so if you are more interested in the whey, go for it.

Hi guys I just finished p90x and I am very satisfied with the results that I have seen, however I feel like I want to do more! I have some problem areas I need to extinguish and I want to change up my exercise routine to confuse my body, because I believe p90x does well with the muscle confusion aspect, but I also think that your body can also adapt to the exercises as well. I was thinking whether I should purchase a new BeachBody exercise, and I was thinkig about buying Insanity. It reminds of P90X’s plyometrics times 100 haha. But I just wanted feedback as to whether or not this would be an ok thing to do? please help. and Thanks so much.
Hi Alfredo,
Insanity is pretty much like Plyometrics X 100! That would actually be a good step to take next if you feel you are getting used to P90X. Insanity is a really intense program and you have to have a certain level of dedication to get through it. That same level of dedication that all P90X graduates have.

Hello
2 questions
1) I didnt have enough money to get the p90x chin up bar when i purchased p90x at the time.. so could i just get a regular chin up bar
2) Im not looking to lose weight.. Im 5″9 142 lbs preety healthy and fit….My problem is i used to be overweight and i still have a small amount of fat covering my abs (very small amount). I want to shreed the fat on my stomach to make my abs crealy visible. So basicly should i still follow the nutrtion plan even though im not wanting to lose weight.
Hello Ryan, if you have another chin-up bar, you can use that one. It’s the exercise that counts.
Follow the nutrition plan, yes. This will help you to lower your body fat percentage and get rid of some belly fat.

I’m quite a few pound overweight, (let’s say triple digits), but I’m looking to get into better shape, I guess the question that I have is whether doing the p90x a few times through would be sufficient, or if after the first 90 days, a different regiment would be useful and or necessary.
HI David,
do one round and see where you are at. You might be pleasantly surprised and not want to do a second round! Although most people do a second round after they have lost a good amount of weight to better define muscles gained during round 1 an to lose a couple more inches here and there.

Hi Staff,
I will be starting P90x within the next day or two and i’m 17, 5’7 and about 135-140. I’m trying to gain mass as in get bulkier and more cuts and ripped. Right now, i’m in good shape, i know that. I can clearly see my abs (6) and I want to know if I can take Mass XXX protein to help me? And the nutrional plan, which one should i use to achieve what i want & would it be hard to find the food i would need for it? And dumbells, 10 pound or 15? Hope I get a quick reply because i sure do want to know. I’m psyched! Can’t wait!
Hi Henry,
I would speak to your local vitamin/supplement store expert about the Mass XXX. As far as the nurtrition plan, you should calculate your nutritional level as they will tell you on page 11 I believe, then go from there. You choose which phase you want to start at depending on your fitness goals. If you don’t like to cook or are a picky eater, go with the portions approach. I would get dumbbells that might give you a little bit of a struggle. This way you wont get used to the weight too quickly. Or you can start with the 10′s and when you can do 11 reps, move it on up to the 15′s.

I was wondering, after i finish the p90x workout (the full 90 days) & want to continue working out, can i repeat the p90x workout again, or is that defeating the purpose of muscle confusion?? In other words, if i repeat the 90 days again, will my muscles already adapt to the routines & not produce great results??
Hello Deneuve,
you can certainly go for a second round but you have to bring it more the second time. I did two rounds and found that doing the second round immediately after at the same level intensity doesn’t really give you the same gains as the first round. You have to put a little more effort in, add some reps here and there or up your weights. Maybe clean up your diet a little more. There will still be muscle confusion, but in my personal opinion, not as much unless you add a little something. You could add P90X Plus workouts, which is what it was made for.
I think it’s a great idea to do P90X maybe twice a year. 3 months on and 3 months off. A good time to start a round of course would be march so you can be done for the summer and do outdoor activities to keep in shape. Then another round starting in September to get yourself in a better position to tackle the winter laziness most of us get!

Hey guys,
I was wondering. I saw your comercial on the t.v. today and was very intrested in your program, but I have one question. What is the appropriate age to use this program?
Sincely, Jacob
Hello Jacob,
there are really no age restrictions. I would say you need to be old enough to understand the concept of this program and be able to follow the nutrition plan.

I’d love to get started soon. What do I do when I know I will be traveling for a solid week about a third of the way through the first 90 days? I can’t haul pull up bars and hand weights around the country.
Hello Gina,
you can do modified versions of the workout if you want to continue the program while you are away, or just pick up where you left off when you get back. 1 week wont set you back a whole lot, if at all.

Jul 17, 2010 @ 21:17:42
after i done the 90 days workout , should i repeat it?
or what should i do…. sorry for my bad english
Hi Xhizros,
you can repeat for a second round, or you can move on to P90X plus. You can either gradually incorporate the P90X plus workouts into the P90X routine, or just do the P90X plus workouts exclusively. If you just want to maintain the results you have gained from P90X and don’t really want to lose any more weight or gain any more muscle, there is a section in the fitness guide that explains what workouts to do and how often for maintenance.

Hey guys! gotta a question for u. Can I eat before bed? I am used to eating 6-7 times a day for best results, but the program calls for 5 meals a day. Can I eat maybe low-fat cottage cheese or something befor bed so I don’t go into starvation mode? Thanks for your time and help!!!! Another P90XER getting ready to bring it!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Bryan,
you should really wait at least 3 hours to go to bed after you have eaten your last meal. Just because your body operates a little differently when you sleep, you don’t digest the same way. If it’s a small snack, it shouldn’t make a huge difference, just try not to eat a steak before hitting the sack!

Hey,
I just finished p90x a week ago, and I’m in the best shape of my life, but I have a few questions.
1) I’m an avid tennis player, so I get a lot of cardiovascular exercise. Thus, would it be ok if when continuing I only do the weightlifting exercises?
2) Ab Ripper X is getting to easy for me; I even did ten extra reps of every exercise in Phase III. What should I do? Is there any way I can buy just the ab workout of p90x plus? )PS my lower abs aren’t nearly as toned as my upper abs; what can I do about this?)
3) Lastly, what nutrition phase should I be in?
Thanks for all of your help.

My husband and I are in our 50s and are both pretty out of shape and overweight. I have about 50 lbs to lose, and he has about 25. I know you say that results come from the effort put forth, but, is it truly possible and proven that a person could lose 50 lbs doing the 90 day program of nutrition and workout done at full throttle? Or is it more likely it would take two rounds of the program?
