We all have an area on our midsection that needs help. For some it is the spot on your lower stomach that just doesn’t seem to harden up, or the love handles that appear where your obliques should be. For others it’s our entire abdominal region! Regardless how much work your stomach muscles need, it is a challenge to find the right moves that allow you to do a thorough ab workout at home. Gym equipment can manage to hit those spots that are missed in typical crunches, but who wants to go to the gym just for their abs? Ab Ripper X, included in Tony Horton’s revolutionary system P90X, manages to hit all of the abdominal muscles in high quality gut busting ab workout at home.
The entire P90X series pays for itself in a matter of weeks when you compare it with monthly gym membership dues. However, not only is the system a good choice economically, it also adds convenience to your fitness regime, allowing you to get a full body workout in the comfort of your home.
Many workout DVDs promise to give you rock hard abs in an easy ab workout at home, but few can deliver like Ab Ripper X. Celebrity trainer Tony Horton compiled 11 signature moves and sequenced them in a way to give you maximum results in minimum time. These 11 signature moves are no walk in the park, but paired with your commitment to health and your desire for a great beach body, they will transform your abs into a rock hard 6-pack in no time.
Getting a complete ab workout at home is not only more convenient, it’s more private! No one has to see you struggling. Only you will see yourself progress from hardly able to sit up, to ripping through the DVD. Gyms can be intimidating, filled with beautiful people whose eyes fall on you when you walk through the door. When you are committing to your health, it is not a time for self-consciousness. Being able to get a high powered ab workout in your home without setting foot in a gym is priceless.
Ab Ripper X not only gives you great looking abs, but strengthens your core from the inside. You will feel stronger, walk taller, and be more confident as you progress through the routine and the entire P90X series. No longer ashamed to take off your shirt at the pool, walking into a gym will seem like a walk in the park, but totally unnecessary.
P90X was developed to give people who don’t have time for the gym the same (or even better) opportunity at a ripped body. The ability to do your ab workouts at home, along with your entire fitness regimen is not only convenient, but empowering. You don’t need the fancy equipment and expensive membership to look this good. You only need P90X paired with the dedication to succeed.

“HELP ME” I work 11hrs a day 8 to 7pm mon to fri can this work for me. i’m 5′ft 10″ 169pd will i get a 6pack in 90 days
Mar 11, 2010 @ 22:27:49
ps. what time is best for my workout, morning or after work. HELP!
Mar 12, 2010 @ 13:07:29
Hi Pat,
I would workout in the morning. Otherwise you might be too tired at the end of the day and wont want to do it. As far as the 6 pack goes, you can get one depending on how much body fat you have to start. If you have a high body fat percentage, you might not see a 6 pack at the end of 90 days.

I just started-week 1. I’m having a hard time with the AB workout. It hurts my lower back. Am I doing something wrong? I did the leg and back work out and couldn’t get the ab workout because of my back. Do I need to build the lower back up?
Hi Sandy,
that could be possible. It could be your core in general that needs work. Don’t stress too much, just keep trying. You might want to get checked out by a doctor just to make sure there isn’t a real problem back there.

I would like to start this program, but am going on vacation for a week at the end of May. Could probably keep up on the nutrition part but will have no time for workouts. Is it okay to miss 7 days in a row?
Hi Cynthia,
I would just pick up where you left off when you get back rather than skipping that week all together. Not all of us have perfect schedules and we do what we can to get in our workouts. No worries!

I borrowed the P90x system from a friend and started just a couple days ago. I am thinking about purchasing the workout but I wanted see how things would go for the first couple of weeks. I am 23 yrs old , 5’9 and and 151 lbs. I don’t want to lose too much weight (because I spent most of my adoloscence less than 115 lbs) but I do want to be toned and healthy. The first DVD I tried was the Ab Ripper, on 5/11, and today 5/13, I tried the Plyometrics. I finished all of the Ab Ripper but Iwas only able to do about 30 minutes of the Plyometrics routine because I got really tired and had to stop. I was wondering, being the size that I am, how soon could I see results, being a beginner and all.
Hello Candice,
some people lose weight the first week, and some don’t start to see results until week 8. It all depends on your starting situation. If you normally don’t eat healthy and are overweight, you could possible lose weight your first week. Just because of the drastic change in diet and activity levels. If you are kind of in shape and eat OK, it may take a little longer to see results. This program is 90 days, so you will have time to reach your goal.

Hello. I just got the P90x. I am getting ready to start. I am a little skeptical of what i am getting into! I am a 28 yrs old mother. I am so ready to get into shape! I want to lose about 30lbs and tone up! Do you really think this is the way to go?? I am excited don’t get me wrong but i am doing this on my own! so i just hope i don’t fall out of motivation!
Hi Debbie! This program can work for you if you stick with it! The number one reason why P90X does not work for some people is the lack of commitment. You have to eat healthy and you have to do these workouts every day, 6 days a week for the entire 90 days. It can be hard to stay motivated when you are working out alone or at home, but coming to a blog like this can certainly help. You can get advise, see how others are doing, and even snag a virtual workout buddy.
30 pounds is certainly a reachable goal. Keep in mind, you results are only as great as the effort you put into your workout. Give 100% everyday and you will reach your goal.

i’ve been doing p90x with my brother in law and i’m telling you it’s freaking hard! I gave up a couple of months ago because i would wake up hurting but he kept on. I wish i would have stuck with it because he is So ripped right now he has no FAT on him and me well now i’m on week two and this time i’m not giving up. My husband is coming home from iraq and i plan on looking good like Pam and the rest of the ladies in the workouts. Thank You Tony

Oh i forgot to mention i’m 29years old and a mother of 6. I’m also 188lbs and 5’5. The last time i was fit was when i was 15. I’m not going to give up this time and when i get the money i’m getting the recovery drink.

I want to try this program but im not sure if i want to spend the money on it because i don’t know if it will work I am 17 and i want tone up my body. But it is hard for me to commet to eating right i want to know how people train themselves to stay on that track. I have seen your commericals and i really like what i see. Do you do one workout CD a day or two thats what i dont understand. I want to get the ripped abs right away. and tone up my body and loSe weight fast.
Hello Nicole,
the DVD’s aren’t done in exact order, 1-12. There is a schedule located in the fitness guide that you will receive with your P90X program.
I hate to inform you, but no one gets ripped abs right away. There is a lot of hard work that goes into a ripped mid section that can’t possible happen over night. With P90X, some people do start to see a difference on the scale or with how their clothes fit within the first few weeks, for others it takes a little bit longer. It all depends on what the condition of your body is when you start, how hard your push yourself and how closely you follow the nutrition plan. If you give you all from day 1 to day 90, you will be happy with your results. Your results are only as great as the effort you put into your diet and your workouts.

I am scrolling down the comments and noticed thet the staff answers every question. pretty impressive. I am a P90X fan (acting cool ,but I LOOOOOOOOVE IT), i have done the program once and half a..ed it and then a serious second round recently and in both times I have seen noticeable change. I am in my third week of Insanity to lose the blubber that seems to not want to part with me. My question is while I am doing Sean T’s program I am affraid to lose the muscle strenght I have gained from doing P90x and I tried to do both programs at the same time but paid for it dearly. I also seem to have reached a plateau where i can’t go below 210. I am 6 feet btw. I am getting stronger and i can see definition but at a very slow rate. what to do what to do . Maybe the new P90x the mc2 ????
Also this is my diet and it is bland and consistant ( boring as hell)
240 cal, 20 p, 24g carb, 20g sugar alcohol (sucky part)
B: 2 EGGS (1 just the white)/ chicken sausage( low fat), mashrooms(handful),1 wheat toast
S: THINK THIN protein bar (gluten free otherwise I will be all over the P90X bars
L: 1/2 cup of brown or black rice plus mix veggies and Chicken (cup. cubes)
S: Apple, 2spoons of PB. and a Think Thin bar
D: usually too tired to eat, but lately protein shake or salad with Tuna(70cal)
Thank you
PS: Tony is the man, a crayyyyyyzy one, but the man nonetheless. Keep on bringing it Brotha.
Hello Yassir,
switching from P90X to Insanity can be a quite a change! Don’t worry, it takes a lot of cardio and NO resistance work to lose definition. Although you don’t need any tools for Insanity, you still get some resistance work while doing those crazy push-up like things! If you do start to see you bulk going down a bit, maybe add couple sets of curls or lunges on the side rather than trying to do an entire P90X workout. Keep in mind that some of that bulk that may be disappearing will probably be the fat on top of your muscles!
As you are getting in shape, the rate at which you are losing weight may be getting slower because you have less to lose. A heavy person will burn more calories per movement and will have more dramatic results than a person who is already in great shape. At this point, you can fine tune your body and you are getting to know which programs work for you and what your goals are. Keep up the good work!!
One more thing. I don’t think you are eating enough!!!! Don’t let you metabolism slow down from skipping meals! Not saying to eat larger meals, just be sure to fit in 3 meals and 2 snacks.
Awesome attitude by the way!

To everyone who doubts P90X works, let me tell you about a friend of mine:
He is 5’9”, and weighed in at 257 pounds.
Yes, he was FAT.
He decided he wanted to work out with me (I have had P90X for a few years, and loved it).
My friend, while changing nothing in his diet, except for lowering his soda intake by 50%, and training only 3 times a week (doesn’t have the time to do more), lost 20 pounds on the scale (yes, 20 pounds) in the first 60 days, and started actually seeing muscles when he trained.
At first, he could barely do 2 or three Ab Ripper X exercise, and 20 minutes of plyo was too much.
Now?
He does at least 200 to 250 reps in Ab Ripper X, and can do almost 40 minutes of the Plyo on a good day.
For him, the results are phenominal, and they motivate him to keep training every week…
It works, don’t nobody doubt it…

Hi Megan,
as far as I know, you have to order online or over the phone with a credit card. Sorry!

I am 40 years old and new to exercising. I have a friend that has only good things to say about your program so… I am interested. I got a gym membership and I have lost over 40 pounds on my own (my muscles are confused just by working out at the gym!!!). I want to get into a little better shape at the gym before I try an intense program like this. I wanted to let you know that I am very impressed with the level of communication that you offer to people. You have responded to almost all of the posts on here. That tells me that you are really wanting to interact with people to help them achieve the maximum results that are possible! I have been reading what people have posted and, from what I have observed, the only negative things I read are from people who haven’t even done it! Anyone that has tried it with some effort has had results. I’m going to take the next few months to prepare for the program and research the diet and supplements that is included in the program. Plus, I want to learn the exercises before I actually start performing them. Do you think I have a good plan? I’m going to start the program on my birthday, October 10, I will be bringing it!!!
Hello Jon,
I think you have a great plan. P90X can be involved and some people can get a little overwhelmed when they first open that box! Planning ahead is always a good thing. If you want to get your body prepared for the program, start running and stretching a little each day. This way, when you start the resistance training, you chances of pulling or straining a muscle will be lower and your chances of getting through Plyometrics (killer cardio!!) will be much higher!
Good Luck!

Hey Faz,
sorry but we cannot ship internationally. I am not 100% sure, but I don’t think Beachbody has an outlet in London.

Hello I bought the p90x and the Nutrition says i should intake about 2600 calories. I weigh bout 174…. I want to have lean muscle and good abs… is this the right amount of calories?
Jan 17, 2011 @ 23:17:28
very confusing on what you need to start this program, I’ve read pull up bar, bands, yoga mat, then I read if you have free weights (dumdbells) you don’t need the bands, the price doubles when you add things up. I have free weights – do I just need the program, pull up bar and mat? Thanks
Hi Buzz,
if you have free weights, all you would need is the pull-up bar and the mat, yes. These are the necessities.

Hi ! I’ve just had 2 c-sections in the last three years….my latest being 6 months ago. I’m 32, 5.3″ & 180pounds, so yeah , preetty well rounded ! I’ve been DYEING to get this wieght off & honestly all the talk about the p90x being a preetty intensive program is actually scaring me off. I would go ahead & buy this BUT i’m just just scared it would be too tough for me since i’m completely out of shape & this seems not to be for beginners…. Do u think if i just tried it 4 days a week with a decent diet it would work ?? HELP ME !
Since u usually do answer most questions ( which IS impressive) i’m hoping i’ll get an answer to mine aswell.
Hello Shaz,
if you are unsure about the program, you can take the fitness test. If you can pass this test, you can handle P90X.
http://www.extremebodyworkout.com/pdf/p90x-fit-test.pdf
It’s really not a program for beginners, but you can however start out at a slower, modified pace and work your way up. If you want to start out with 4 days instead of 6 at first, work on getting to 5 days, then eventually 6. The diet is key if you want to lose weight. If you start this program and realize that it really isn’t right for you, return it within 30 days for a full refund minus shipping.
If that’s the case you might want to try Power 90 In Home Boot Camp. There are a lot of the same ideas as P90X, but not as intense and is great beginners.

Good luck!

Hello I bought the p90x and the Nutrition says i should intake about 2600 calories. I weigh bout 174…. I want to have lean muscle and good abs… is this the right amount of calories????
Hello Woostley,
this calculation is based on your weight and the amount of calories you will be burning while doing the P90X. The amount of calories you will burn on average with the P90X is about 600 which makes you daily intake higher than normal.
