Hello John,

as long as you don't eat a full meal right before you workout, that half of a protein bar (or it's substitute) would be fine.

Hi,
I don't have any protein bars or recovery drinks but I was wondering if I could substitute anything for it? Also I am starting P90X today so if I work out in the morning would this scheadule look ok? 5:15-5:30 wake up, 5:30-5:45 eat half a protein bar (or substitute), 5:45-6:45 work out, than finish off protein bar and eat breakfast? Thanks in advance!

Hello Deriek,

it is important to have any recovery/protein drink within an hour after working out. This is time when your muscles are most ready to take in the protein for recovery and growth.

Hello Ty,

I would do some research before using a product like N.O. Explode. It does claim to give you high energy that will last a long time, but it is a stimulant with a ton of caffeine in it. I am not knocking the product, I would just be sure it is safe for you to use first.

Hi Aaron,

I would do it after. You always have a warm-up before each workout anyway. Doing cardio after resistance or after a full workout can increase the calorie burn during your jog.

Hi Mike,

resistance bands are supposed to be as effective as dumbbells. In my opinion, as I have used both, the resistance bands are a little different because there is that pull on the way down. A 15 pound band is way easier to handle than a 15 pound dumbbell. You also have to take in account how you are stepping on the band and how much give yo have. It's tough to say which is better. Some people say the bands are better because of the resistance on the way down, but dumbbells are harder to handle and require more control which can work your muscles more. If you are looking for mass or bulk, I would say to use dumbbells. Not that you can't get that with bands, but to get a really heavy resistance, you would need a 50 pound band or better.

Hello,

I am strongly considering this sytem, but have some serious time concerns (like a few others on here) regarding waking up and fitting in breakfeast before a workout. I work rotating shifts, through the day and the night, for 11-12 hours. I will need a boost to get me going other than coffee (which I dont drink). My question:

-can I substitute "no-xplode" pre workout for the coffee as recommended above along with the half a protein bar? I find I just dont have the energy available without anything to eat before working out, but dont want to vary from the nutrition plan if I start this program. it has few calories, so I would guess it wouldnt affectthe diet plan too much. Thank you very much.

Hi Carol,

When you feel better, pick up where you left off. Taking a yoga class twice a week in place of Yoga X and X Stretch would be fine. Great idea for those who want to customize this workout and take it out of the home!

I would like your most honest answer. I'm planning on P90X, actually I am ordering it tomorrow. I would like to know which apparel would give you the better results; using the resistance band or actuall dumbbells?

I was just starting week 4 of P90X Lean when I came down with the swine flu. I have now missed 5 days of workouts, hoping to feel well enough tomorrow to start back up again, at least with X Stretch. I was wondering what impact missing these days is going to have and how I should adjust. Should I start where I left off or continue on as if they hadn't been missed?

Also, I was wondering if there is any impact on switching which workouts are done each day. I already attend yoga classes every Tuesday and Thursday so have been switching my workouts around so that a P90X stretch or yoga workout lands on each of those days (I've not been taking any rest days).

Thanks for your input!

Hi! I`m 25 5`7 and 160 lbs. I just started P90 yesterday, and I have a few questions.

I`ve been in kickboxing for years but I found that cardio was/has not been causing me to shed the desired amount of fat I wanted/needed. I`m wondering if using the standard p90x classic will cause me to shred fat and tone up more/quicker/faster than the P90x lean? I`m assuming my body is used the cardio and it has peaked.

I also am wondering, if I was to divide my 60 min workouts that 1 or 2 days a week require me to workout in the mornings, if it is ok for me to divide 30 mins in the am, and 30 mins at night? I normally work out evenings, and have been for years. Working out in the morning (about 20 mins after I wake up) gives me headaches, makes me feel ill, etc for hours after the workout is done. ..This is why I wonder about dividing them in half on the days I need to work out in the morning.

And lastly. Is it ok to have a cheat day in terms of eating and drinking 1 day a week, as long as I am working out every day? Would that really be so bad in terms of my results?

Please help! :) Thanks a ton!

Hello Thomas,

You don't need to take all of those supplements. Keep taking the multivitamin as indicated on the label, but taking the creatine, recovery drink, and whey might too much. The recovery drink already contains whey protein and creatine. Have a recovery drink after your workout, and if you want get another supplement in, you could have a protein shake for a morning or evening snack. Try not to over do it.

I need a little help in figuring out when to take all the different supplements. I have protien power, creatine power, the recovery drink, and a multivitamin I am suppose to take twice a day (not together). I am just starting to do P90x again after two months off (moving and an injury kept me out) and want to get ultimate results!
