Why Resistance Bands Make 10 Minute Trainer Faster and More Effective
There is no question that Tony Horton’s 10 Minute Trainer is a fast and effective way of getting fit in a short amount of time. Created with today’s over-scheduled adult in mind, the 10 Minute Trainer program manages to give you a full body workout in just 10 minutes a day. Used alone, the program would work, getting your body into shape 10 minutes at a time. Used in conjunction with resistance bands, however, the program can transform your body much quicker. Celebrity trainer, Tony Horton, developed the 10 Minute Trainer program as an answer to the ever popular excuse for inactivity, “I don’t have the time”. By successfully creating workouts and a nutritional plan targeted at busy adults, he showed that it doesn’t take hours a day to stay fit and active. Because you are fitting a whole body workout into 10 minutes, it is important to really get the most out of it. By including resistance bands in the program Tony found a way to take those 10 minute workout sessions to another level.
Resistance bands multiply the energy used by your muscles, burning more calories and building more muscle. Adding any type of resistance to an exercise makes it more productive. Weight lifters would not improve if they didn’t keep adding weight. Runners couldn’t win races if they didn’t keep setting harder goals. Adding resistance is how athletes improve. But you don’t have to be a professional athlete to learn from them. Adding resistance bands to the 10 Minute Trainer program pushes your body to reach further in its fitness goals.
If you are starting any exercise program and coming from a completely sedentary lifestyle, your body will change. Not being accustomed to moving around and being active, your muscles will respond to any exercise. Once you reach a certain level though, you will have to up the ante to keep that transformation in progress. Resistance bands will push you through any fitness plateaus. If you are entering the 10 Minute Trainer program as someone who already finds time to exercise, the resistance bands can challenge you further.
Tony Horton’s breakthrough Super Stacking Technique allows your entire body to get a thorough workout in 10 minutes. Rather than focusing on cardio, followed by a toning and sculpting session, this technique allows you to get it all done simultaneously. Further intensifying this body changing technique through the use of professional grade resistance bands will help you create the body you want in the time you can afford.
Like a professional athlete has to keep pushing their body to perform at higher and higher levels, you too must challenge your body to get the most out of your workouts. More effective than using the resistance provided by your own body weight, and much more convenient than a traditional set of weights, resistance bands are the challenge your body needs in a simple but high quality package.

thinking of purchasing 10 minutetrainer i weight 220lbs
and would like to lose at least 40 lbs.does it work.
Hey nyoka,
10 Minute Trainer is a great program and is quickly becoming one of our best selling home workouts. The reason is because it’s so flexible. you can start off with doing just 10 minutes a day (which is a lot tougher than you may think) and you can stack workouts doing 2 or 3 for up to 30 minutes a day. The reason it’s so effective is because the workouts are condensed and concentrated, meaning in those short ten minutes you’ll be moving, flexing and sweating a lot!
Check out our recent video on the 10 Minute Trainer page for real testimonials. These aren’t paid actors. It’s a great program and because we offer a 30 Day Money Back Guarantee you can try the program for yourself and see if you like it. If not just send it back for a refund or try one of our other programs if you like. Let us know if we can answer any other questions for you.
Hi…
I’m curious as to which set of resistance bands to purchase. I am getting ready to order the 10 minute trainer….please advise
Hi Carrie,
Women tend to go with the “Medium” level resistance bands while men usually opt for the “Heavy” for either
10 Minute Trainer (Standard)

or

I noticed during some of the workouts the resistance bands are attached to a door hinge. How are they attached? Thanks!
Hi Hank,
They are attached using the Resistance Band Upgrade Kit, which includes a special door attachment. Please see the following link fir details:

Is the 10-minute going to cover different exercises, everyday. Meaning I don’t want to be bored.
Hi Yasmin,
Absolutely not. The 10 Minute Trainer schedules out 5 different workouts throughout the week. The Deluxe version includes 3 more workouts to add to your weekly schedule. The great thing about the 10 Minute Trainer is that you can do either 1, 2, or 3 workouts per day. All only 10 Minutes long!

How do you know what resistance you need, and when to make it higher ? By higher i mean to make it more strong or something like that
Hi Brit,
Thanks for stopping by. We offer 3 resistance band kits available here in the “P90X Equipment” section:

You’ll find in the videos that Tony will give you ideas on when you need to choose more or less weight depending on the particular exercise in question. What that means for you may vary form person to person, but you’ll quickly figure out what you can and cannot handle.
Also, you can increase the resistance (weight) of the bands by simply looping it and standing on the loop for various routines. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
I am getting ready to purchase the 10 minute trainer and I was wondering if the Resistance Band Upgrade Kit is included in the 10 Minute Trainer (Standard) or if I need to order it separately.

Hi, I would like to know how many weeks is the 10 minute work designed for. P90X is for a 90 day period. If I workout with the 10 minute workout, with its fully 3 period (30 minutes) a day for the 4 week period… after how many weeks should I look for a more advanced program?

Hello Diego,
The good thing about the 10 Minute Trainer is that it is completely based off of you and how hard you push yourself. There is no time frame to complete, it is simply there to be an aid to your workouts. You can use it everyday for the rest of your life, or when your body is ready for more of a challenge, you can move up to a new program. It’s all based on how your body responds to the workout. It takes some people months to get their stamina up to the point where they can even finish the program and then there are some that need something more intense because they are already in pretty good shape. So, you may have to take that question up with your body after week 4. Everyones body reacts differently and only you can decide that answer.

how many calories do you think we would burn on the first week

Hi Anna,
that all depends on your intensity level. If you put more into your workouts, you will burn more calories. It’s hard to give you a solid number for the whole week. Some people workout with more effort than others.

Hi, I have done p90x before, but I am out of shape and doing 10 min. trainer to condition myself. to move on to p90x.
I am trying to try to keep track of my calories I am eating about 1200 to 1500 calories. I started at a weight of 142 pound I am 5′5″ with diet only the first week went down to 135, I have been doing the 10 min. trainer plus running and biking, I try to do all training in one dvd. plus 30 of bike and run.
I would like to know how many calories am I burning with each dvd and why I am gaining weight after I lost weight so quickly and I am def. dieting strictly.
Thank you
Bea

Hi Beatriz, for each 10 minute workout, you burn about 100-200 calories. It’s great that you lost so much in the first week. I think your body was really surprised and went into fat burning mode quickly. You diet changed and you added a new workout to your running and biking. If you are gaining weight while sticking to the same diet and workout schedule, it could be muscle gain. The 10 Minute Trainer has that super stacking method that is a combination of resistance and cardiovascular exercises. You might not be lifting heavy weights, buy you muscles are probably developing which can add up to pounds on the scale. If you really want to track fat loss, try a body fat tester. Even if you are gaining weight from muscle, the body fat tester will tell you how much fat you are loosing which might not show on the scale.
Don’t be discouraged by the scale! Keep working hard and eating right and it will turn out great in the end!

FRUSTRATED!!!! I have seen what P90X can do while watching my daughter. I however am a 52 year old female. I bought ten minute trainer to add to my other workouts (3 miles walking daily and teaching step aerobics 2X a week. I have been faithfully eating 1500 calories or less and doing the above mentioned workouts. I have not lost and have actually GAINED! I am seriously depressed about this…..I know I know menopause right? but there are women out there that beat it weight wise. I am on no hormones and trying to eat whole foods. I am 5′3 and have ballooned up to 142 from 135. PLEASE PLEASE advise. Thanks for all you do. becky
Becky, maybe you have gained muscle! Muscle is heavier than fat, and therefore if you gained muscle you would also gain some weight, but not necessarily get any bigger (muscle is denser than fat, and it also burns fat). So the real question is do your clothes fit better or worse? Do you measure smaller?
So I’ve been really interested in P90X, and just discovered you offer the 10 Min Trainer. My question is which would be the best to start off with. I am completely sedentary and am tired of being tired. Of course it would be easier to find 10 min a day vs 60 min, however which program would I see the most results in a faster amount of time?

Hi Karen,
I would start out with the 10 Minute Trainer. Just because I don’t want you to quit if the P90X is too time consuming or too tough. The 10 Minute Trainer will give you a great workout in a little bit of time, but you can also stack the workout. This just means that you can do a 10 minute workout in the morning, another 10 minute workout later on in the day, and one more at night. You can do up to three 10 minute workouts per day if you have the time. It gives you a little flexibility if you are a busy person.
The P90X will give you greater results, but you have to commit to the time. The workouts are also a little more difficult than those of the 10 minute trainer. It’s really a matter of time and level of difficulty. I would recommend that you start with the 10 Minute Trainer.

I recently purchased the 10 Min Trainer…and want to use the resistance bands. I did not realize I needed a door to do some of the exercises when I ordered it and I do not have a door in the room I will be using. Is there another way to get the same affect of the door bands..without a door? Please help! I love this workout series and want to do it but if I can’t figure this out somehow I’ll probably have to return the product.
My question is very similar to Kim’s… I don’t really have a spot for the resistance bands where I want to work out. I haven’t ordered the 10-Minute Trainer yet but I def do want to! Anyway… can I just use my 5 or 8 pound dumbells instead? I have those and use them already from time to time. If they are a suitable substitute, I’ll be ordering this!
