If you’re looking for a great new fitness program and you’re wondering, “Does P90X work, really?”, wonder no more. The answer is an absolute yes; however, as with any fitness plan, you have to commit to the program, set realistic goals and follow the nutrition plan that’s provided with the P90X workout plan. The following FAQ’s will give you more insight to the question; does P90X work?
Does P90X work to burn fat quickly?
Yes, P90X does work to burn fat quickly – If you stick to the P90X nutrition plan, as well as the exercise plan, you’ll see a noticeable reduction in your body fat percentage well before the 90 day program is over. Those people who throw themselves into the exercise program and ignore the diet will not see such impressive results.
How does P90X work to burn fat?
The P90X program is designed around muscle confusion. It provides workouts that target all areas of fitness. The variety provided in this program keeps you from hitting the weight loss plateau, which generally occurs after the first month of training, when your body becomes accustomed to your workout plan and results become less noticeable. P90X also increases lean muscle mass and it’s been proven that each pound of muscle in a person’s body burns more than 10 calories a day while at rest. Throw in a proper nutrition plan, and you’ll become a fat burning machine! However, if you decide to only perform the workouts you enjoy the most, or you choose not to follow the nutrition plan, you won’t get the results you were hoping for when you purchased the P90X program.
Does P90X work for all ability levels?
P90X can work to help people of all ability levels achieve higher standards of fitness. Of course, if you’re new to fitness, you will need to modify some of the exercise programs to make them suitable to your abilities. If you’re already in great shape, you’ll likely train with increased intensity to get maximum results from the workouts provided. Regardless of your level of fitness, you’ll get better results from any program if you set realistic, achievable goals. One of the biggest pitfalls in following a program like this is having unattainable expectations, which may lead to burnout and ultimately, failure to complete the program.
Does P90X work to improve athletic abilities?
Actually, P90X is tremendously helpful to athletes who are seeking an edge. P90X’s unique program of weights, cardio, stretching and plyometric training provides athletes with all of the elements necessary to excel in sports. Strength, flexibility, agility and endurance are all highly valued athletic skills that are developed using P90X. Again, to ensure that athletes get the best results possible from the P90X program, they need to fully commit to the program for at least 90 days. Those who don’t commit; those who pick and choose which parts of the program they want to a follow typically don’t get the results they want to see. Please see the following article for more details on How Power 90X (P90X) Can Make You a Better Athlete
So, to answer the general question, “does P90X work for everyone?” The answer is no, it doesn’t. P90X only works for those people who are dedicated to the entire program, who set achievable goals for themselves and who follow a healthy nutrition plan while following the P90X workout program. The better question to ask here is, “can P90X work for everyone?” Absolutely – as long as you are medically able to perform moderate exercise, P90X can be the path to achieving all of your fitness goals.

Hello I bearly started p90x yesterday. I’m trying to get in shape for football season which is about 1 month away. I weigh 150 pounds and I’m 5ft 6in tall. I’m not looking to lose weight at all. I just want to get stronger, faster, have more stamina, and get a really good six pack. Can you please tell me in specific what I need to do to enhance my results??????? When will I start seeing results??????? Will eating grilled white chicken, white rice, and broccoli help???? Please let me know what I can do to get in the best shape I can in one month????????? And remember I don’t want to lose weight. I just want to gain muscle, get stronger, get way faster and have way more stamina!!!!!! Please give me specifics!!!!!
Hello John,
if you are going to be working with P90X, you want to first calculate your nutritional level. Once you do that and find your level, skip the fat shredder phase and go to Phase 2. This way you wont have to worry about losing too much weight because of the little carbs phase 1 has you eating.
For your workouts, just be sure to go for mass rather than lean muscle. Heavier weights, 8-10 reps. If you can do 11, grab something heavier next time. This way you can build up a little definition in the short time you have before football. I’m not saying you are guaranteed to see great results in one month because this is a three month program, but if you work hard, especially with the weights and eat right, you will start to see results.
P90X was designed to improve speed, strength and stamina. As I said before, you wont get the full benefit of the program in only one month, but you will start to see some improvement.
To help, you might want to grab some whey protein and/or some recovery formula.

Hey, im about 5’4, 5’5 and i weigh around 120-125lbs. I am thinking about doing the p90x program i am just curious as to how much actual muscle can be built doing it for 90 days? and if i weigh about 120-125 right now and i have a fast metabolism and have trouble gaining mass. If i follow the program to a tee what sort of muscle gain results can i expect?

I’m currently in week 2 of phase 2. I have followed the schedule of workouts to a T and adjusted my diet accordingly. So far I love the way I feel. I can see a difference especially in what used to be my “beer gut”. My concern is simply in the lack of muscle growth or atleast my perception of it. I am bringing it on every weight lifting day. Using primarily pull up bar, dumbbells, and my lat pull down machine. I’m wondering if I need to drive up my protein intake and/or begin a creatine regiment. I feel tight right after the workout but within hours or the next day my muscles just feel spongy again. Please advise.

I have not yet purchesd the p90 yet. I am alittle on the scared side we dont have alot of money so I have to be very careful. But I was looking into something for me and my daughter she is 11 and alittle over weight she wants to lose and so do I I am about 60 lbs over so ya I am fat. I am more worried about if I spend the money that we dont have will we be anle to eat the food. Our taste buds are not like others alot of things we cant eat. What is the kind of food does it have? She is eleven can she do it?
Hello Katina,
This is a low carb, high protein diet. Basically you have to steer clear of sweets, simple carbs, drink lots of water and eat lean meats. Even complex carbs (whole grain) are limited depending on your nutritional level. For breakfast you might have 6 egg whites, 2 pieces of turkey bacon or sausage and a slice of whole wheat toast. Lunch might be a tuna salad, and for dinner you might have a pork tenderloin with a side of vegetables. The meal plan has more complex meals which can include swordfish, but if you are looking for a more simple approach, go for the portions approach. This way you can pick and choose from the foods you like and create your own meals.
As far as your daughter, she is a little young for P90X, but if you are there doing it with her and letting her know to take it easy and light, that should be OK. You probably shouldn’t allow her to do this program without your supervision.

Is it (in need for a better word) “safe” for a 13 year to use?
Hello Justin,
there really isn’t an age restriction set in stone with this program. It is pretty intense and if you are a younger person using this program, you should go over everything with your parents.
There is a lot that goes into the nutrition that a 13 year old might need some assistance with, but the diet is just a really healthy way of eating that will help you to burn fat and you wont be deprived of any nutrition.
Because there is weight lifting involved, you should be aware of the proper techniques. Exercising wont hurt you if you are 13, you just have to be aware of what’s going on. You need to know when your body has had enough, where your threshold is , and how far you should push yourself.

I do martial arts 5 days a week in the evening. The morning I have school. If I pick and choose the exercise from your program will I still get some results? Im not looking for maximum results since my schedule doesnt allow it. I just want to do something to improve my endurance, stamina, balance, and flexibility.. any suggestions?
Hello Danny,
adding more exercise to you day will most likely increase your results, but by how much is hard to say. Plyometrics is definitely the one to improve your stamina and endurance. Yoga X will help you to improve your balance and flexibility.

Hi, i recently seen this programme on one of the shopping channels on sky and i really like the look of p90x, im 5ft 3, 17 and weigh 168 pounds. One of my problem areas are my arms as they are quite large (with fat not muscle) My only concern about the programme would be would i build muscle on my arms ?
Hi Lauren,
this program will help you to build muscle in your arms, yes, but it will also help you to burn fat so you arms will get smaller. To keep the muscle lean and not bulky, keep the weights lighter and do between 12-15 reps. Also, if you plan to use the chin-up bar, I would use a chair and try to do more reps. This is the same concept, less resistance with more reps creates a more lean look.

I need to lose 20lbs and am wondering if P90X will help me do that or if I should do the Power 90? I can not do push-ups at all so will that keep me from losing weight if I can’t do them?
Hello Vicki,
you can lose weight with both programs, P90X will most likely give you more drastic results but you want to start out with a program you can handle. I wouldn’t want you to start with P90X and give up. I would start with Power 90 to get your fitness a little better, then move on to P90X. You could lose 20 pounds with P90X alone, but doing Power 90 first will prepare you for the intensity of the program.

Hey, so i was wandering ,im 14 and am trying to mainly work on my upperbody and a little bit in the legs . Really i want most results in bicpes and triceps. So i geuss im asking what the best is to work on everyday.
thankss
Hello Max,
are you using any of the Beachbody programs or are you doing your own workout?
If you are using P90X, for example, to bulk up more on top use heavier weights and do 8-10 reps. For leg workout days and do the opposite, no weights and do 15-25 reps.
If you are just doing your own thing, the advise would be similar. You should make yourself a schedule first to make sure you aren’t working the same parts of your body, resistance wise, two days in a row. So if you are working on your shoulders and arms on a monday, tuesday should either be a lower body workout or cardio. This will give your upper body muscles time to repair, which is needed if you want to gain any size.
A variety of bicep curls would be a good start alternating with shoulder pressing and tricep extensions. A chest and back workout should be done sometime during your week as well. For these days, push-ups, chin-ups and bench pressing up moves will do the trick. The key to gaining size is to do 8-10 reps with heavier weights. If you can do 11 reps, you need to choose a heavier weight next time.
For you legs, a variety of lunges, squats and calf raises will work. Of course, you don’t have to add weight if you don’t want too much bulk. Your body weight will provide resistance and if you don’t want bigger legs, you shouldn’t add weight at all. If you want to lean them out a bit, do more reps, up to 25.
These exercises are your basic moves but it’s all about how you approach them. Scheduling, the amount of weights you use and how many reps you do is key if you are looking for specific results.

I have been doing P90 X for forty days now and to my surprise i have lost 22 Pounds. I also run 4 miles every morning as well so that could have something to do with it. But yessss P90X does work but the main thing is you have to diet to tho. I dont follow the P90 x nutrition plan but i do diet and i diet very well and i focus on not breaking it. But like any workout routine if you dont diet you want see real good results just ok. The main thing i tell anybody if they are going to start and what is keeping me going is i set a goal and the results im seeing now and just the sheer objective of not giving up. Dont let it beat you you beat it and get rid of the I cant in your head and put im eventually going to conquer just not right away but i will beat you.
Well said Erik, and congrats on losing 22 pounds in a little over a month! Extra cardio does help you lose the pounds faster!

I am 5 ft and weigh 122 lbs.. I just had a baby, my question is can I continue to breastfeed and do this program? Will it interfere with my milk production due to the nutritional requirements? Also, I would ultimately like to be my wedding weight ( 105lb) but also build muscle and become ripped…(nice ripped not man ripped!) so do u think this program is suitable for me? Also , if I substitite the shakes with a commercial store bought protien shake will that be okay?
Hello P.M.
It’s best to wait a little while before starting a workout program, about 2 months. This way you can be sure that your milk supply is coming in at a normal and healthy rate. When you do start, you may need to take in a few more calories than what is suggested in the diet. Consuming less than 1500-1800 calories per day can put your supply at risk.
The foods included in this diet are healthy for you and your baby. If there is anything in the nutrition plan that a breast feeding mother should normally stay away from, that should apply to you as well. Overall, most of the foods in the plan shouldn’t give you a problem. Supplements might need to be omitted, but that something you should ask your doctor.
If you are looking to lose almost 20 pounds, this is the right program for you. A 20 pound weight loss goal is reachable, but you most certainly have to follow that nutrition plan. In most cases, the diet seems to be almost as important as the workouts for people who have lost in the range of 15-20 pounds. To get a more lean muscular look, you should keep your weight somewhat on the lighter side and do 12-15 reps.

Hey! I’m really pumped, after testing in school I’m going to start P90X.
However, I noticed that around the second or third phase I will be leaving for Peru for 9 days. I will not have access to a tv, and I cannot bring weights. What do you suggest I do to stay on track during my trip? Most importantly, coming back from Peru, I’ll probably feel jet lagged and a little sick. How long after the trip should I wait to start up again? Is this trip just going to completely throw me off?
Oh, and I almost forgot. I’ll definitely be doing the diet, but in Peru I can’t pack alot and will be expected to eat whatever everybody else in my class does. How should I adjust my diet to Peruvian cuisine?
Thanks so much. I’m definitely going to get P90X, I just need to have these questions cleared up first.

Hey~
I’ve been running 4-8 miles, hills, crosscountry, etc., a day for around 7 years. I’m a definite runner. I was also a multisport athlete in high school and have continued since then with a lifting/toning workout 3-4x’s a week. Problem is, I don’t think I look as fit as I am! I’m 21, 5’10 and 200lbs, but my doctor claims I carry it well. That number kills me! I’ve busted my a** forever trying to drop weight. Lowest I’ve been is 180 and most people I know said I looked sickly then.
I’m hoping the muscle confusion aspect of p90x will break through my weight barrier. I just started and am following the nutrition guide but I recently was diagnosed with a slew of food allergies: dairy, soy, peanuts/other nuts, gluten/wheat, shellfish. I’ve always had issues with meeting nutrition requirement, but now its even harder. Would you recommend I take the p90x nutrition guide to a nutritionist to customize it for all my allergies?
Any advice will be great !
Thanks
Hello Casey,
I think P90X will help you get off of that plateau you hit. It’s something different that will surprise your body.
As far as your allergies, yikes! So no dairy, soy, fish, nuts and gluten. This will be tough, but if you sit down and figure out some meals ahead of time, I think you will be ok. I’m not sure how to get around the dairy……I would normally suggest soy or almond milk as an alternative to dairy, but you can’t have either of those. You could try rice milk. An alternative to dairy cheese would be soy, but again, you can’t have soy.
When planning out your meals, start with meats and vegetables. Honestly, if you only eat meat, veggies and fats you will lose a lot of weight, but it might not be so healthy when doing an intense workout like the P90X. I think you best bet would just be to omit certain things and you should probably take a good multi-vitamin. Maybe ask you doctor what’s best with all of your allergies.

I know this is kind of ridiculous, but the only vegetable’s i can consume without puking is potatoes, and corn. The only fruit I can eat is bananas. Everything else is incredibly disgusting and I throw it up when I try to eat it. I guess I was spoiled as a kid? ha. I’m 17, 6,2, 225 lbs, I’m guessing around 18% body fat. Do you think that the lack of vegetables and fruit will effect me getting great result a lot, or just a little?
Hello Bradly,
I don’t think it will hurt you too much, but I would take a good multi-vitamin and make sure you are following the rest of the Nutrition Plan. In my opinion, the most crucial parts of this diet is getting enough protein and really limiting your carbs. This is important for losing body fat and gaining muscle.
Can you eat salad??

Hi Im 165 pounds and about 5’6 female.
I just recieved my P90x in the mail (so excited) My main goal is to get down to 135 pounds and lose the fat on belly as i really hate it and its affected how i feel about myself.
What programe do you think best for me to do (lean, classic or double)
Also i dont have a pull bar, but i do have resistance bands, but not ones that i can attach somewhere. will this be a problem?
please advise
Thanks
Hello Coolie,
if weight loss is your main goal, go with the lean approach. This way you will focus more on fat burning cardio and less on resistance. Instead of building up your muscles, you will be toning the muscles you already have.
If you get the resistance band door attachment kit, you should be able to use any bands with this to make it work. Although you wont be doing as much resistance, there will be a point where you will need to do a chin-up or pull-up with your bands attached to the door.

I am very interested in this program but have a question about the nutritional plan. I have 3 kids, one is 11 and the other two are 3. My question is will it be ok for my kids to eat the things off the nutrition guide. I don’t have time to cook 2 seperate meals 3 times a day for other members of my family. I am 31yrs old, weigh 143lbs, and am 5’6. My weight goal is 130lbs but my biggest goal is to achieve feminine muscle in my back, arms, stomach, hips and thighs. Thanks in advance.
Hello Tonya,
the nutrition plan doesn’t contain any foods that your children can’t eat, unless they have allergies of course. Yes, it will help you lose weight while you are working out, but that is because it is balanced in a way that deprives you of the foods that make us gain like white carbs and too much sugar. The best formula for weight loss is to exercise and to not eat foods that make us gain weight. You children will be much healthier along with you!

Will this help me lose weight my goal is 125. I need a beach body soon!!!! as it is June already. Hello Mallisa,
do you often run out of breath when running? If so, this might not be the program for you. You will need some stamina for the cardio workouts. You can also take the fitness test to see if you can handle this program. If you can pass the fitness test, you should be ok to take on the P90X.

This program, if followed correctly, will not only help you lose weight, but you will also get into great shape and feel better.

I am 15, 5’10″, and 235 pounds. I am about to start P90X. I want to lose around 35 pounds but I also want to maintain my muscle. I lift weights every other day and want to know if heavy weight lifting will affect losing the weight I want. Thanks.
Hello,
lifting heavy weights will add muscle weight, but you will burn fat faster and more efficiently. Muscle helps to burn fat so I guess it’s a balancing act. If you just want to lose weight and don’t care about size in terms of muscle, lighten up on the weights. If you want to continue to lift heavy, you will have the opportunity to get pretty cut up if you add P90X, but you might not lose all the pounds you want to on the scale. You body fat percentage will go down and you wont look as heavy.

Hey, I’m 5’5 155 lbs and I am currently in my first week of P90x. I mainly want to lose a little stomach fat and put on more musle mass to bulk up. I do not follow the diet 100 % but I do watch what I eat. And I also lift weights for football and I wrestle. Will P90x help me bulk up and lose stomach fat?
Thanks
Hello Alex,
yes it can. Be sure to follow the nutrition plan to help reduce body fat and if you are looking for bulk, make sure you are getting enough protein and use heavier weights. The Classic approach would be the best rout for you to take.

hi i am an above knee amputee. im 5,11 and weight about 260. i would like to get in shape and i have been looking at p90x for that. will the program work for someone who cant use a leg?
Hello Christian,
there is actually a guy in the videos doing the workout right along with Tony who is also an amputee. I’m pretty sure his amputation is below the knee, but he does have a prosthetic leg. You just have to be careful and know your limits. Modify where you need to.

I’m currently on my 4th week of p90x classic and I’m very excited to start the second phase. I’m looking to lose more weight and I’ve done fairly well on cutting back on junk foods and fast foods, would cutting out carbs help to lose that extra weight? Also, I really want to focus on losing more belly fat, would it be okay to substitute cardiox for yogax or maybe do plyometrics twice a week?
Hello Mac,
cutting carbs will absolutely help you lose more weight. Keep in mind that sugar is a carb too. You will need some complex carbs for energy while doing P90X, so a carb free diet might not work here. If you want to do extra cardio, that is perfectly fine. A lot of people aren’t too fond of Yoga X, but it really does help your body feel better and it also helps balance and strengthens your core. It’s one of those workouts that you hate to do but it’s really beneficial.

Hello. I just ordered p90x. I am 5’10 and around 135. I’m pretty sure I’m at a healthy BMI and know I’m not overweight by any means. However, I have these annoying love handles that I can’t seem to get rid of. Should I still start off with the fat shredding diet?
Hi Holly,
start out with the fat shredder phase, yes. In general, fat loss is an whole body process, so if you start to bring down your body fat percentage a little more, those love handles will start to shrink down.

ive done the p90x for 1 month exactly and i have lost about 4 lbs of weight im 6’1 and i weigh 204 but i feel like i havent lost my belly and im doin the diet and i may not eat every single thing but i only eat wats on the diet plan like if i cant buy fish ill have chicken 3 days of the week and i eat everything measured also so i dont go off the diet at all except i might eat sumthing 3 times in a week i know its only been i month but i want to know if that is normal and if wat i do is bad for me because i want great results.
Hello Jasson,
it can take longer for some to see results. Sometimes up to 8 weeks! You also have to take into account that you are probably lose body fat and gaining muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat so the numbers on the scale wont necessarily determine wether or not you are making good progress. Get a body fat tester and take weekly measurements.

I was wondering, once i have finished my 90 days of P90X, what do i do? Do I carry on working out with the same nutritional food plan?
Hello Alana,
usually when people finish P90X successfully, they will tend to continue to eat as they did while doing P90X. Not exactly meal for meal, but keeping in mind how many servings of each food group to have each day and what kinds of foods to steer clear of. After 90 days, you will know how to eat right and you will want to. This will be your normal way of eating and it will become second nature.

I had my first child two years ago. I gained 67 pounds with my pregnancy and am still holding on to thirty pound of loose, gross fat. Im only 23 and im 5’1. I used to be 100 pounds. Will P90x help m get my body back?
Hello Kris,
P90X can help you reduce your body fat percentage, gain muscle, tone and tighten. You may get an even better body than you had before if you put you all into it. Your results are only going to be as great as the effort you put into your workout. If you just go through the motions and are only giving 50%, your results will only be so-so. Stick to the Nutrition Plan and do your best every day, trying not to skip days, and you will get your body back into the shape you want it to be.

Hi. I have just ordered the p90x program and I am already in great shape with 6% bodyfat and 190lbs. I have been playing full court basketball twice a week and did the weight lifting for 4 times a week with upper body monday/thursday and lower body tuesday and friday. For my cardio I’ve jumped rope for 40mins directly after my weight training workout because I didn’t had the time to do it twice a day. I am also a type I diabetic and have been eating healthy foods but have not been on a strict diet like p90x nutrition. The question is will I see increased results from p90x or should I add something to it? Also if I decide to do the doubles program would it be possible for me to just do it in phase 3 nutrition because it’s hard for a diabetic to prevent low blood sugars when not taking at least 50% carbs. Thank you.

I way 120 pounds and am 5’8 (female)… I want to gain weight badly. Would this program be helpful for me or will it burn off the little fat that I have left on my body. I know that it is important for women to have some healthy fat. Is this program for me or should I try something else. I want to do something that will get me fit and allow me to gain weight at the same time.
Sep 01, 2011 @ 13:41:30
Hello Zlatan,
you will most likely see a change because the program is designed to be different than any other workout regimen and you body will respond to that change. If you have the time and energy, you can keep some of your regular activities in your schedule, which will only make your results even better. If you have an issue your health in terms of diet, you should do what is best for you. If you need to start off with phase 3 because of your diabetes, then that is what you should do. You should be sure that you are healthy enough to complete this program, even if that means adapting the nutrition plan if you need to.

I’m a 23 year old male I’m 6’1 280 pounds I’ve let myself go in the last few years from not playing as much sports and going through university I just bought the P90X and I would like to drop about 70 pounds and get back to what I used to be what would be the best part of the P90X to do and do you think its possible to drop that much weight in the 90 days while holding a 40 hour week job.
Thanks Steven
Hello Steven,
if you can stick to the workouts every day and follow the nutrition plan (which can be difficult for college students), it is possible to loose that much weight. Those who start of heavier, tend to lose more weight, and also males tend to lose more as well. Males have the ability to really build up muscle and muscle helps your body burn fat. If you can find the time and you can eat right, it is possible to lose 70 pounds in in 90 days.

I’m a 17 year old male, and i used to be kind of overweight but i lost like 45 lbs throughout the hole year, so now im kinda skinny, (not ectomorph skinny) and i think i need to gain some mass and shed a tiny bit of body fat, would doubles do the trick? because i heard that’s just for weightloss and not for musclegain?
Hello Ali,
doubles is good if you need to lose a little more weight, but would still like to build up your muscle mass. There is a bit more cardio, but not enough to start breaking down the muscle you are trying to build up. If you have the time for doubles, keep your weights on the heavier side and keep your reps in the 8-10 range.

I completed phase 1 but couldn’t complete all 60 minutes of each exercise. I can now and love the results I’m seeing. Should I start over at the beginning of phase 1, or should I move on to phase 2?
Hello Craig,
I think you should keep going and move on. Sometimes people need to work their way up to be able to finish a workout and that’s okay.

Dear staff,
I have been looking to start my program. I’m 17 but i’m rather skinny 5ft 8 and only 135 lb. it sucks… but i was wondering if the p90x would help me gain mass and get ripped. and i was wondering what i could do in order to achieve my goals. i’m determined to change the way i look and will follow the direction perfect. i just need some guidance. thanks =)
Hello Stephen,
if you are looking to gain mass, you can achieve that with P90X. You need to make sure you use heavier weight and do between 8 and 10 reps. If you can do 11, you need a heavier weight. Tony will tell you during the workouts what kinds of weights you should be using if you are looking for mass. Diet will play an important part as well. This is alway tricky when it comes to gaining weight because you don’t want to get fatty weight. If would skip the first phase of the nutrition plan and start with the second phase, maybe even the third phase. The first phase really focuses on weight loss so you should skip that one all together.

Hi,
I started p90x on Monday and am adjusting to the amount of calories the program is telling me to intake. I’m in phase 11 (2,400 daily calories). I feel like I’m eating way too much and actually have been feeling more bloated that I usually do. Is it all the Protein that is making me feel like this? I’m afraid I’m going to continue down this path and not shed the fat as I am supposed to.
Hello Julian,
if you aren’t really feeling great where you are at in terms of your nutritional level, you can drop down to a lower level and phase. We all react differently do diets so this nutrition plan can’t be perfect for everyone. Use it as a guideline and if you need to make a couple adjustments here and there, feel free.

Hello Tyriqueee,
if you stick to the schedule and the nutrition plan, you can lose around 20 pounds. You have to be sure and do your workouts every day and keep pushing yourself to get better each time. This program does work, but you have to use it right. The nutrition plan is key to losing weight. You need to eat just the right amounts and kinds of foods to lose weight all while fueling your body for these tough workouts.

can p90x stunt your growth?
Hello Niyaz,
people often associate extreme workouts with stunting growth in youth and teens. The truth is that the actual workouts will not stunt your growth, but if you receive an injury to specific joints that are still growing, you height could be affected. If you damage your growth plate, which is located near your joint, your growth may be stunted if not treated. Even if you do sustain a growth plate injury, it can be treated and you do have a change to recover.
So just workout smart and be safe. Do not try and go beyond your limits.

I am on the fence about buying P90x…I’m 6′ 5″ tall and i weigh about 350. I don’t no if it will work for me since i am so big. I’m sure many people say this but i am big bone. I need to get in shape because i am a firefighter. Is this program right for me?
Hello Brent,
P90X can work for anyone who works hard at it. This is a tough program, but if you start out where you are comfortable and keep pushing yourself further each time you start a new day, you will find that you can keep up with Tony and his crew. There is a fitness test you can take to see if this program is too difficult for you, but if you don’t pass, you can always try it starting out slow and work you way up to speed. If you find the exercises in the test to be moves that you would not like to do on the regular basis, this might not be the program for you.

Good luck!

I am on my second round of P90x. I went from 212 to 187 and feeling great. I am still having problem getting rid of my (spare tire) belly. I am following the nutrition and diet guide. Any suggestions? Thanks
Hello Dwight,
when you are burning body fat, it’s an all over process. So if you have extra in your belly, it will take a bit longer. You can’t really target fat loss, so you just have to keep burning more calories than you take in and building your ab muscles.

I am on my second round of the program and have lost 22 pounds. I am having problems getting rid of the spare tire. I am following the diet. What else can I do?
Hello Dwight,
unfortunately, the belly fat is usually the last thing to go. You can’t target fat loss, it’s more of an all over thing, but you can continue to build your ab muscles and burn more calories than you take in. Also, working large muscle groups like the legs and back helps to burn fat faster. So if you continue to work your entire body with cardio, resistance and eat right, you belly will soon disappear.

Hey there! I just ordered P90X and i am sooo stoked to start. I’m 19, 5’2 and around 130 lbs. I’m not fat by any means…but i want to get RIPPED. Not lean…i’m not girly enough to be “lean.” i want muscles and i want abs…but i don’t want to weigh 200 lbs either. I guess i don’t care as long as i look good. What do you suggest? Supplements? Doing the workouts twice a day? Just tell me and i’ll do it.
THANKS!
Hello Savanna,
I suggest you do the workouts once per day as directed in the classic approach and follow the nutrition plan. I would also take the recovery formula. Not only for a good protein source, but for energy and muscle restoration. In order to put weight on with muscle, you would need to lift heavy. If you want muscle definition, but don’t want to be too bulky, start with a weight you are comfortable with then keep upping the weight each time you go back and do the exercise. Try not to go too heavy. If you get to the point where you can only do 10 reps, you might be moving into the realm of lifting for bulk. Lifting light and doing more reps keeps your muscles lean, but you need to increase the weight for definition. But not too much if you don’t want bulk! It may be a balancing act, but I think you can feel it out as you go along. Just try not to go up in weight too quickly.
