Hello Michael,

taking a protein shake wont make you bulky. It does help repair muscles that you use during your workout. If you wanted to get bulk, you would need a combination of protein and heavy weights. As long as your wife sticks to lighter weights and keeps her reps in the 12-15 range, she will get a more lean look.

If you don't really want to build up muscle, go for the lean approach. This will allow you to burn more calories and help you to get lean muscle.

Hi Rose,

If you don't care to add muscle, go with lean. Classic will help you gain muscle, reduce body fat and improve your overall athletic abilities. Doubles is for those who might be looking for a way to burn extra calories to get lean so their muscles can shine through.

Hello, my wife just started the P90X program the other night and is aiming for a leaner, slimmer body. As for supplements, I am currently taking whey protien shakes, and I have recommended my wife take them for the extra protien boost. However, she is afraid taking protien shakes would make her muscles bulky. Are protien shakes appropriate for women aiming to become slimmer rather than develop a muscular physique? Also, would you recommend the lean or the classic program (for becoming leaner)?

I was just writing to get your opinion professionally on combining the program to 45 days. I currently use to work out for 2 -3 hours a day and if possible would like to speed up results since i am unemployed and have nothing but free time.

are there and huge problems with this idea

I would say that the headache was probably caused by something else. Not the workout.

Hi Sno,

it's ok to run every day if you want. A lot of people add running to their P90X routine. P90X doubles is the classic approach plus extra cardio, so you would be doing something similar to that.

Go for it!

Hi Belle,

you can do any one of the phases at any point during your 90 days. If you don't want to shed any fat, you can go on to the energy booster phase. Phase three is if you really are feeling drained and hungry all the time. It gives you more carbs so you can keep it going. Same thing with doubles. Go to phase 2 now, and if you feel you need to, switch to phase 3. Only if you need to! Otherwise, you can stay in the energy booster phase the whole 90 days.

Hi Jake,

don't be discouraged. Most people don't start to see results until around week 8. If you are going to start over, stick with the classic approach. If it's bulk you're looking for, go for heavier weights and don't do more than 10 reps. If you can do 11, you need something heavier. A protein shake or recovery drink is great to have right after a workout. It's within that same hour that your body is ready to take in that protein for optimal muscle repair and build. Keep in mind that you are still pretty young and getting "jacked" might take until you are a year or two older.

I'm week 1-Phase II (P90x Classic), but have not followed the Nutrition Plan. I'm 5'6, 110 lbs. I don't need to lose weight, but truly am 'skinny fat.' I really just want to tone up and look cut. I LOVE the program, but want more results.
1. Should I start the Energy Booster that goes w/ Phase II or start the Fat Shredder--how long and when would I switch?
2. I may want to start doubles; if so then what eating plan would you recommend starting at this point?
Thanks.

i started the p90x classic version about 32 days ago. when i looked at the photos, i saw no improvement. my goals at the end of 90 days are to have built serious size in my arms and my shoulders and my chest.
however, i want to have an 8 pack and be very defined in my back as well. I talked to one of the customer service people at beachbody, and they said i should start over. Which program would be the best for me? should i drink a protein shake after every workout? would the classic version work for a 14 year old to get jacked? and if you dont follow the nutrition guide will you still get results?

Hello Mike,

you should be careful with that. You need to eat. If your body is going into starvation mode, you metabolism is going to slow down, and as soon as you stop taking those pills, you might gain that weight back quick. 1500 calories is WAY too low for a 275 pound man doing doubles!! You should probably be eating somewhere around 3000 calories, and that's even for the fat shredder phase!!!!!! If you are looking for any kind of muscle, you have to eat more, and the right foods! Protein is extremely important!!! Your body fat is going to decrease, but you won't build any muscle if your body is starving!!!! When in starving mode, your energy is taken from the muscles. Your body actually breaks them down!!!! Please rethink your approach!!

-Mike

p.s. you can substitute plyo in to cardio x. These two workouts are similar, but are different in terms of difficulty and intensity.
